| Admins: how to *really* be one? | |

sometimes i wonder what's the point of being an admin. i mean, i've seen enough to say that there are some, *almost* abusing their "power". So naturally, i asked myself: "how does one become an admin?" I overread somebody saying something about modifying the .cfg files... but that means that practically everybody could be an admin. plus, if i create a server, i won't be allowed to execute the admin commands except the ones that are *no good* against lamers... nowhat? _______________ as long as there is light, there is darkness. if i won't win fighting i will win dying... |

Purpose of an admin is to maintain a positive atmosphere on the server. To do this, all you need is kick and ban. Some mods offer nice extras which can be fun, but are just a waste of space if you wan't the game to stay consistent. I say this because the most popular is JA+, which while it adds a lot of nice goodies to the game, it adds an autoblock feature to the duel system, screwing it up quite hard. _______________ Fervent supporter of duelling - leave a message if you would like to battle! Also other admins can, if that command is enabled, grand other players the rank of admin and not even telling the password. It's not a bug. People use mods where they set up admin passwords and what commands each level of admin can use. If it's not your server, you'd need to know the password to log in with. Best way to become an Admin, is to make your own server, download a Admin Mod like JAR, set the passwords and voila |

Youll get admin rights on a basejka server when you get to know the rcon password.If you are running the server yourself, you can set the password in the server.cfg i guess.If youre not running the server yourself, someone has to tell the password to you in order to get admin rights. _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! It depends on the mod you are running on your server what sort of admin commands are going to be available to you.Everything you need though is the rcon password to kick or ban someone from the server.I think you can set it up in the server.cfg...not sure though.
