some time ago i found a pretty nice cmd.
well most of us know it actually so its no secret.
cg_ThirdPersonCameraDamp x x-value of yer choice.
there are more cmds like cg_thirdpersonspecialcamera (which is not special at all).
the question is... why cmds like cg_thirdpersonalpha etc (90% of all cg_thirdperson cmds) are cheat protected?

yes, the values between 0 and 1 for cg_thirdpersoncameradamp are different, higher values mean the camera responds faster to movemnt of character model and mouse, lower values make it slowerer responce. as for a zoom script, it would be very easy (as aratan pointed out) to make a script that would zoom in with cg_fov and make your mouse less sensitive at the same time, at the push of a key. so you could zoom in, look around with a less sensitve (more accurate) mouse and then press another key to zoom out and return to normal sens. :D

My (home-made) zoom script > *.

Zooming is only really useful for spotting players far away, though. Not for aiming in any way whatsoever (the only gun I can imagine it would work for, is the disruptor primary fire). And about your post right after mine, back in July, Sazabi: yes, you can look around corners in 3rd person games... but can you look around corners 50 metres away? You can with cg_thirdpersonangle and -range.

You've got to bind sensitivity, not sens. Binding short versions of commands doesn't work. :D

OMG, Im sucha cheater!

No it does not work, as u cant bind the 'sens' command. Or at least i couldnt :P

cameradamp effects are not the same :)
just try to jump and run as fast as you can.
the range between model and 'you' will increase greatly.
there is difference between 0.3 and 1.0
i think you must be kind of dead to not notice the difference :P with 1.0 camera is totaly bound to your jumpin, 0.3 camera has some freedom.

..If you use cg_fov with a low value to 'zoom in', your mouse sensetivity doesn't alter as it would with a normal scope. It'd be very difficult to get a clearly aimed shot with a fov zoom 'cos the crosshair would move about so sensetively.

0.3 is default, but until you set it to 0, the camera doesn't loosen. Basically, anything above 0 seems to have the same effect as the default.

Yep, its .3 for me too. Some ppl use 1 as default, or it brings them back to default, or something of the like, I dont understand that completely. For me, /cg_thirdpersoncameradamp .3 is default too :)

fov might work as sort of a zoom in tactic but i am not sure.... never tried.

However i must correct Gradius (=P) the default value for cg_thirdpersoncameradamp is .3 not 1. mess with values lower for a less responsive camera and higher values for a very responsive camera. :D

Aye but like I posted, I feel its cheating, as a concussionrifle doesnt have the scope the disruptor has ;) *ZOOOOOOMS IN WITH REPEATERRRRR* :P

Ooohh that sounds sweet dash, I'm gonna go on the servers and abuse it and tel everyone you said it was ok :P Seriously though, if that works, that could prove to be a very useful and effective tactic.

Hmmm, well u can jump high and do cg_TPCD in the air, so u get a nice overview... but the camera will always be looking into your own direction. Its pretty hard looking around corners, I dont know if cg_TPCD is all that effective... Im nto sure on this =/

Anyways, u can use /cg_fov 10 or something LOW, to 'zoom in.' It'll allow you to take a pretty accurate shot with a... concussion rifle as if it were a disruptor rifle. Maybe thats a way to cheat  (EDIT: I dont actually recommend doing that as it sounds a lot like cheating to me LOL)

Not exactly sure why those others are cheat protected. But there are 2 camera modes that can be used.

cg_thirdpersoncameradamp 0 - Set it to 0 to turn it off and have a fun time trying to move around with it. Set it back to 1 to fix everything.

cg_thirdpersonspecialcam 1 - Set it to 1 to have the camera move around you as you do a special such as a kata, butterfly, and barrier. Set it back to 0 to turn it off.

i think you could manipulate camera distances/angles and "cheat" to see where enemies are in a CTF or TFFA type situation i would imagine. that's the first thing that comes to mind for me anyway :)
