The True Meaning of This Place.

O'Liin Onasi
First and foremost i should state my intent, that everyone in this community should read this.

Those of you who actually know me here, will probably say "I cant belive O'Liin is actually saying this!" when in fact this needs to be said.

It is time that WE ALL (including myself) stop this childish BULL SH**.I'm talking to mostly every one who as post on the forums in the past month,or anyone who has been involved in the toubles that are occurring(including myself once again).

Now I dont have a problem with anyone here.No one.AS I read Grad's post, for the most part,I, agree with every point he makes,,,save one. We are not a clan.We are more a familly. Some here,I,would hold as my brothers or sisters in reall life, and other to be honest, fathers, cousins, aunts, uncles, and mothers.

Some may say ,"WTF IS HE TALKING ABOUT!",but those of you who really know what the True Meaning of This Place is,will agree with me whole heartedly.

The True Meaning o This Place is not, foolish bickering,,,child like members who try to start trouble,,,admin abusers,,,or highly held members of this place slamming others.

It is my belief, that these words might not change everyone's mind. That is not my intent. My intent is to make those newer members see,,,see what this place was,,,what it should be,,,and what it could be.This place WAS a truely meaningfull place. It held moments in sum members lives that will not ever be forgotten.I have memories of this place, that will stay with me forever, and I KNOW that there are others who agree with me fullwith.

Now I have been back and forth over writing this,as I believe I may end up being banned ,or shunned by the rest of this place. Now i want to reiterate my point on my possible banning. I dont believe that the JAC's are cruel people who just ban for fun.I mean that they may not like what im saying, and decide that i am not welcome because of my opinion, and I would accept their decision on that,so should it happen. So,,,I have finally chosen to say it.I love this place.I dont want to be banned.I do NOT want to miss out on the goods things that have happened, are happening, and will happen here, but I cant take this any longer.I have chosen that if i am banned then maybe my words will stay. So,,,Please If I am banned because of this,,,PLEASE let this post stay where it is.For all to read.

It is time I get to my point.Everyone who believes that this is just a game is plain about wrong. You know who you are. Those of you who say"Stop taking this thing so personally" are F****** idiots. Forgive my harsh words, but you have no idea what his place is about,or perhaps over the months you have forgotten it.So,,,,,let me remind you.

Please take this to heart.Everyone who reads this,PLEASE read this and think about before you say anything.

The True Meaning of This Place is not the game,it is not the way you train,it is not teh ping,it is not the fps you get,it IS NOT the fact that sum1 said sumthing you dont like.

The True Meaning of This Place is,,,,,the communication we have with each other. It is the involvement, the diverse cultures interacting peacfully while the world around us is at war with ITSELF. It is a safe haven for those who cant get along with that world all the time,or even any of the time,or for those who just need to releash a bit of the usual life we all have. It is most importantly this. The very interaction, between each other. The very fact that any could come here and be welcome. No matter who they are in life,or what they are called,or whether they are shunne by this world or familly or friends,or even themselves. This is the only place I know of.It is also, just as important as anything,NOT a group of ppl who cant get along,IT IS HOWEVER the only place i know of that has alomost every creed, race, gender, and culmination of locations, all bundelled into one very (I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH)WONDERFULL COMMUNITY.

So Please, please, for the sake of every brother and sister here.Let us stop this, and continue on in the truest meaning of this place.

He cut off Darth Vader's hand and kicked him down a flight of stairs. He got his @$$ zapped by lightning from the geezer Emperor, stood up and said "s'at all you got b!tc#??"

The Academy Troll is a valuable asset with bumping forgotten threads of varying importance! There must have been some major bickering at the time this thread was created.

I think Sete is right:) this place is wonderful if you want to learn more about the game, but as O'liin says: It is the atmosphere and interaction we have that REALLY means something:) I can only say O'liin is a wise man and that he may live well and for long:D

I played Jedi Outcast for over a year, and I got a bit of help, but I never really got to understand the game, or get good at it. Same when Jedi Academy came out...until I joined the Academy. :P

Well, it depends on how you look at it, I suppose. The basics of all the styles are extremely easy to learn. After a few weeks of playing, everyone is bound to know what a butterfly is, or a scissor. There aren't actually many combos in the game - you can learn pretty much all of them in a few weeks, too.

But from my experience (and I admit that my only teacher was Virtue, but you can't call that a limitation ;)) there's a more complex and more satisfying way to play the JK3 game. The chaining of combos is only the tip of the iceberg - movement training, tactics, timing. The exercises required for the more advanced training are probably not detailed in the game manual (ever tried running through a minefield while your trainer keeps force pushing you around?).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, in the past, trainers have given me a lot of unique game experiences that can't be easily discovered in a solo game, or from your manual, or from JK2. The people here at JA helped me to get the most out of my JK3 experience. It's not a matter of documentation, in my opinion. :)

Back when JKO came out there wasn’t much documentation on the game to teach you how to do the moves and what powers countered each other. It was learned through trial and error or someone helped you.

JKA offered more documentation on the game and made the moves easier to make. Plus, by then most people already played JKO and knew how to do most moves. So converting to JKA was rather painless.

The point I’m making is, less people need help on playing the game. Therefore, less Trainers are required to teach.

Still, 200-300 people to admin is still a whole lot. If you think about it, if you're the teacher of 300 people put together 10 classes of 30, and you have eaisly one of the hardest shit to put up with.

I find it funny how the JA continues to say they are presiding over 10,000 members. Id be shocked if there were 500 active posters and players.

whats your point? :)
its the fault of those inactive members that they are inactive not JA's .

My point is, that we get all "you try being an admin for 10,000 members, we're only human" responses when someone has something to say in regards to the admins or jac's or w/e, when in truth, it is only a small fraction of that number.
I'm an admin for a group that technically has 3400 members, however, the numbers are nowhere near that. Just rebuffing a common excuse.

Back when we first opend we could do that kind of thing, point a guy out of the crowd, say "you're awesome! want to be a teacher?", and get a JAT that way. That worked great when we were sub 1000 people. Nowadays with as many people that come through here we need to verify they really know their stuff. If you'd believe it we ran into a time where new students knew more about the game than our trianers. It made for a rather silly school. :P

Incidentally, leaving your thoughts on threads like these is a great way to get yourself noticed by us. We can't be on the servers 24/7, and sometimes places like this is the best way to get to know you guys.
I understand QC, Quality Control, when I see it. I also understand supply and demand. So you don't want to supply us with sub-standard training just to meet a demand. Ok so it is us that you are thinking of?

I am the worst case scenario, I over think and talk too much. Sue me! I have also been a contributor to major websites and communities, none worth mentioning, to the point that I nearly divorced over it. Thank gawd I pulled out of that dive. Ever heard of Americas Army? I got lost in that, HomeLAN Alliance, TWL, AALadders, ran a couple clans the works. In the end the experience turned out to be, pointless.

In this game I find a few things that I really love. Its a game of skill, not just right place right time like FPS'rs. It is based in a mythology that I know very well. Oh and its violent!!! YEAH!!

I'll hang, I'll chill, I just don't like bein a mushroom. You know in the dark and feeding on SH!T. I guess thats my problem, although I see it as an attribute.

What this all boils down to is the same as all posts before this... RESPECT...
I've seen a lot of posts like these in my time here. And seriously.. they stir up something for awhile maybe a month or so, after that everybody goes back to his/her business as before... face it... you're not gonna change the way the JA is... you either like it or you don't. With that being said, can we just get on with our lives and start having fun again?
