First and foremost i should state my intent, that everyone in this community should read this. Those of you who actually know me here,will probably say "I cant belive O'Liin is actually saying this!" when in fact this needs to be said. It is time that WE ALL (including myself) stop this childish BULL SH**.I'm talking to mostly every one who as post on the forums in the past month,or anyone who has been involved in the toubles that are occurring(including myself once again). Now I dont have a problem with anyone here.No one.AS I read Grad's post,for the most part,I, agree with every point he makes,,,save one. We are not a clan.We are more a familly.Some here,I,would hold as my brothers or sisters in reall life,and other to be honest, fathers,cousins,aunts,uncles,and mothers. Some may say ,"WTF IS HE TALKING ABOUT!",but those of you who really know what the True Meaning of This Place is,will agree with me whole heartedly. The True Meaning o This Place is not,foolish bickering,,,child like members who try to start trouble,,,admin abusers,,,or highly held members of this place slamming others. It is my belief,that these words might not change everyone's mind.That is not my intent.My intent is to make those newer members see,,,see what this place was,,,what it should be,,,and what it could be.This place WAS a truely meaningfull place.It held moments in sum members lives that will not ever be forgotten.I have memories of this place,that will stay with me forever,and I KNOW that there are others who agree with me fullwith. Now I have been back and forth over writing this,as I believe I may end up being banned ,or shunned by the rest of this place.Now i want to reiterate my point on my possible banning. I dont believe that the JAC's are cruel people who just ban for fun.I mean that they may not like what im saying,and decide that i am not welcome because of my opinion,and I would accept their decision on that,so should it happen.So,,,I have finally chosen to say it.I love this place.I dont want to be banned.I do NOT want to miss out on the goods things that have happened,are happening,and will happen here,but I cant take this any longer.I have chosen that if i am banned then maybe my words will stay.So,,,Please If I am banned because of this,,,PLEASE let this post stay where it is.For all to read. It is time I get to my point.Everyone who believes that this is just a game is plain about wrong.You know who you are.Those of you who say"Stop taking this thing so personally" are F****** idiots. Forgive my harsh words,but you have no idea what his place is about,or perhaps over the months you have forgotten it.So,,,,,let me remind you. Please take this to heart.Everyone who reads this,PLEASE read this and think about before you say anything. The True Meaning of This Place is not the game,it is not the way you train,it is not teh ping,it is not the fps you get,it IS NOT the fact that sum1 said sumthing you dont like. The True Meaning of This Place is,,,,,the communication we have with each other.It is the involvement,the diverse cultures interacting peacfully while the world around us is at war with ITSELF. It is a safe haven for those who cant get along with that world all the time,or even any of the time,or for those who just need to releash a bit of the usual life we all have. It is most importantly this.The very interaction,between each other.The very fact that any could come here and be welcome. No matter who they are in life,or what they are called,or whether they are shunne by this world or familly or friends,or even themselves.This is the only place I know of.It is also,just as important as anything,NOT a group of ppl who cant get along,IT IS HOWEVER the only place i know of that has alomost every creed,race,gender,and culmination of locations,all bundelled into one very (I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH)WONDERFULL COMMUNITY. This idea has been brought forward countless times in the past, and rejected every single time. The reason: standardization. DISCLAIMER: I do not pretend to know what the staff think, nor do I intend to put words in their mouths (keyboards?). The following is simply what I have observed in my time here. The JACs want official classes to be taught by trainers who have been with the JA for a while, are familiar with its ways, and have had at least minimal instruction in the basics of teaching. Admin access isn't strictly necessary for teaching purposes, but if you do the teaching thing, sooner or later you will start getting troublemakers - that's just the way of things. While I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who conceivably could step in and teach a class with no problems, the majority of people do not make good teachers without some training first. This especially applies to the younger set. Think about it - how would you like to sit down for a class taught by a 12-year-old who had never tried to run so much as a birthday party before? Add the troublemaker factor to that, and you'll understand the reasons for the JAK+ process. As has been emphasized repeatedly in official and non-official posts: being an official Knight or Trainer is not solely based on knowledge of the game. It is far more to do with having a certain amount of knowledge of the game, and having the tools (metaphor) to pass on this knowledge; and equally about being a good role model for the rest of the JA, having the ability to problem-solve, mediate disagreements, and such. The rank of JAM was created to house those who display this archetype exceptionally well, such as Jaiko and Jaina. I believe that all the current JAKs and JATs fit the positions very well, and that the future ones will be no less appropriate. Personally i dont see the need. As far as the repopulation of the ranks is going its all running smoothly now and running to plan. I'd see such a move as a degredation of the service we want to provide which was certainly not the effect the staff purge was inteded to have. There are those that certainly treat this place and people as family, that is great, awesome and wow. There are those that connect here and develope awesome RL friendships. There are people that butt heads and truly hate each other. Sounds like family to me. I am sure that I am one of the afore mentioned "trouble makers" I am sure the King saw George Washington and his crew the same way. I am not starting a revolution though, I wanted something else. Olin and I have had, tense, moments before, mostly due to his chosen profession, which I admire and equally fear due to my RL experiences with the police. He has said he is new to the force, police force that is, and has much to learn and I wish him safety and success. There are alot of people that are defending the JA family, while I truly understand I do not fully understand why so many people fear change. Change is healthy, resistance is futile. Really it is. The JA definitely needs to get back to its roots of providing training to all who want it. It should do so in a manner that doesn't require its membership to make extraordinary efforts to get said training. It may be necessary to change the responsibilities of the trainer rank in order to get a bunch of trainers ready in an efficient time frame. I have nothing but good will towards those who spread good will, and a harsh hand for those that don't. I agree with what Oliin said. I'm pretty new-ish here, but I have played alot of online games. I usually get sick of them right away because of all the annoying people who are just plain distressful and dissapointing to be around. Then one day I browsed upon this site. I played the demo, and played a friend's single player version, but never even bothered with online play. Then after reading around the site and seeing the classes, I thought "oh that's cool, but it's probably not taken very seriously." Then I read about Vladarion. After reading about him, and reading so many of the responses from the people, I knew what kind of community this was. It wasn't some Counter-Strike Pyschos all eager to do everything in their power to have the highest number of kills near their name, but it was a community based on people. People who want to have fun, teach and learn, and just enjoy themselves with the others around them. After all this I bought my own copy of Jedi Academy, just because of TheJediAcdemy.net community. Ever since then to this day, I enjoy my time at the academy, and the people that make it up. I would hate to see the Academy go all because people have forgotten how to get along. One last thing: I just want to say I really appreciate all the time and effort the staff here has put into this. I know a little bit about how hard it is to set up a thing like this and keep it running (especially if you aren't being paid for it.)
