A JA Christmas

Hey guys! What do you think of having JA musicians throwing down some xmas tracks and then having JA Radio play it for us all to enjoy? Each person will pick a classic xmas song to do in their own rendition and then submit it to me to be broadcasted. Then on one day (Christmas) we'll broadcast all day JA members giving their best! Just an idea right now but we'll have to move fast if we want to do this!

Deadline is going to be December 22st!

The JA Xmas Currently Features
Casual - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Janus - The Night Before Christmas
Tido and the Teamspeak Mutts - Christmas Is Going To The Dogs
Virtue/Eica/Kensei - Merry Christmas Everyone
Smiley - ?
Tido - Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Kenyon - Where Are You, Christmas?

Audacity, its good quality, freeware, and even saves to MP3.

Right, I can't sing too well, but I can try to lay down something with my electronic drums and my mic. Maybe then, Eica, you can stick something with it. I'm trying to think of a good song first. Unfortunately, I don't have sheet music for anything! :P

Good point 3th.

Windows sound recorder should be just fine. By googling you'll find a thousand different wav->mp3 converters, and even good ole Winamp can do the job with a little tweaking.

I'm just such a perfectionist when it comes to hisses and crackles and such.

But yeah, sound recorder is good, providing that your mic is decent. (So that it won't be just static with a melody that we'll hear).

for this event, the windows sound recorder will be just fine methinks. i have big plans for the "mix with file" option :D

then ya just have to drag the .wav file to itunes or something to make it an mp3 for sending over the interwebs at a more managable size.

This is just my viewpoint into Smily's dilemma. It would be great if other people helped out too, since I only use and have ever only used Cool Edit Pro, which is a professional (and commercial) music editing software.

The easiest way is for you, Smily, to pick up some software that allows you to record your voice and save it in a WAV-file. Then you could send it to me (or upload it to some convenient webhost) or someone else who is good at "post-production" ie. taking out all the hisses, sctraches, clicks, pops, howls, teehees, bananas, washing machines and dead ex-presidents.

Basically for the solo of my song, I need all of the TS crew to record a bark. I'm going to put it to a melody and use that for the solo.

duh? HELL YES I DO! I don't care if it's you and your little sister playing spoons. I just want everyone to contribute their creativity! :D

BTW, Cas. For those of us not as musically technical as you, can you give them some tips on recording?

Cool idea, it might have to be a bit simpler a song, or it will be hard to record the guitar in time with the music. What would be best is you doing drums first, then mix in the guitar, then singing :)

If you guys write a song, set a tempo, stick to it perfectly, and then mix it, it can work!

As for making them available for download, yeah we'll make the whole show and the songs available.
