Activity is waning in some or alot of areas. This depends of course on whereabouts you live, your time zone etc. But generally, people have been saying recently that whenever they come online, the Servers are pretty much empty. So I ask you this: What would you like to see around here that could help beef up activity in the JA? Please be detailed, I don't expect you to have to write essays or anything, but please don't just post saying stuff like "We need more events!" or "We should have some scheduled fun sessions!" Tell us exactly what it is you'd like to see here. Or things that you think would help boost activity on the servers. So... I dont like the idea of titles and ladders at all. However, tourneys sound good =x I was a big fan of HW's pit-duel tourney class back when he used to teach. What about if we schedule an academy tournament where the instructors can arange the duels againt people of simmilar skill level as they have the best guage on ppls skill. I have the JA Comic comming up. sunday the frontpage will be released and prolly do a page a week afterwards cause it takes a while per page 1st page took over an hour to setup and take all the shots... after that I have a meeting with sednox to describe and talk about the script for it and the actual layout.. then he has a few goes and we talk about what each is missing and a few changes. then the final picture release of it. I log on randomly on the weekends.. my sunday.. everyone elses saturday to sunday. so if you want to help .. gather at least 4 people to be ready in game and poke me in IRC to see if I'm awake. and be ready to be bored out of your mind by standing in one spot and getting me to move you 3 cm's to the left or right.. heh. once this gets off I'll totally set a proper time each week I'll need to take screenshots for it. _______________ .Lag Bro to Xanatos. I wanted to write more but let me get this one out there real quick: A Calendar. I know it sounds rather simple and our classes already have them, but this is something the JA really lacks. If we want to be more active and have more activities, we need a good way for everyone to see when *everything* is happening so no-one is left out. So as an example, I can login to the site, and in one glance see this week there are 3 classes, a hydroball tourny, an irc trivia game on tuesday, an instagib thing on saturday, etc. I guess my mindset is, if the JA wants people to create more activities, it needs to be as easy as possible for them to make it happen. I'll write more later! |

Id like to see more masters... I dont even bother looking for someone to take me in as a padawan or hope for it to happen anymore. I would also liek to see peopel on and im sure other would.. teh secret is you stay logged on and then someone else checks their favorites sees someoen on and gets on. But they dont see someone on so they go join another server on their favorite's list.. its basicly psychology. Some good ideas coming in here. For some reason, some of the smaller ideas really appealed to me... like shows in the bar. I know it's silly, but that sounds like it could be funny as hell if it's done right. Personally, I'd like to see Acey Spadey do a stand-up comedy show in the bar. As for expanding our horizons where gametypes are concerned, I couldn't agree more. The Aurochs are our guys for that type of thing, maybe we should start looking to them to start setting up official JA "Alternate Gametype" sessions. Maybe we can even have a bunch of them teaching an official CTF and/or Siege Class here. As for flying.. I'm glad people are starting to get interested in that again, I'll have to cook something up where that is concerned. Maybe we should also get a bunch of the mappers that are here in the JA and get them to make a Co-Op map each... that way, not only will I have alot more maps to choose from for my Classes, but we'll also have alot more stuff to do for fun - it doesn't have to be just for classes. "We should have some scheduled fun sessions!" That's just what I think. More specifically, I say a big FFA every two weeks to a month would be good. I'm not sure there needs to be more classes to be honest. I think there are as many classes going on now as there ever have been during the time I've been here. In fact, it's been old for about 2 years now. Atm it's just way too Saber duel focussed. I agree that CTF and Instagib have lost interest. Part of it is that people haven't been taught these types of gametypes. But, we have to consider that not a lot of us guys in the Academy know CTF that well. Unless some old-timers would like to bring it back, nothing will happen. Instagib can get going again and is fairly easy to teach. CTF team would be pretty neat though. I personally like Siege. One of the gametypes a lot of people don't try at all. Javaguy once had a Siege class, but after that, the interest died. A couple of us (Katan and DM) play Siege together every now and then. People just need to be willing to open up their minds to the other aspects of JA. As for tffa, there is 3th's tffa class. 3th is busy atm, but some of Aurochs take care of that class. We usually have a good turn-out and a fun time. Aside from that, I guess we could have real tffas every now and then for those that who do not attend that class. One problem with tffas is the fact that only a JAC can change the server settings every time to properly set up a tffa. If we could get a simple script that sets up a tffa easily, it would definitely speed up the process whereas it might take 15 minutes to grab a JAC and give them the server setting commands. Heh, vehicles are fun. We've had a couple of flying sessions on WP, but there are usually too many people so everyone has horrendous pings. If we put a flying map on a separate server, maybe Projects, it could work. Good ideas Dac. well thatll probably sound dumb but... finish v3! one of the reasons why saber dueling gets boring is that duel mats are just duel mats. lack of environment bores you out of a skull. now dont think that im starting another discussion about the map. its just lack of new things to do. for example some days ago i was more interested in playing recent open jedi project mod version coop mode than goin to JA servers. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. No seriously. Perhaps you could cover more than the Jedi stuff in the game. CTF classes. Alot of people (Like myself) already said they pretty much suck at using guns. Since it's an academy, why not have certain teams within the JA who train together for CTF matches/tourneys within the JA.
