Jade Jedi - Retired  |
In approximately 3hrs I will be heading to my barracks to get ready to board a bus to go the the airport. From there we'll be flying to Darwin in preparation for a possible deployment to East Timor. Once there we will wait for further word to board another aircraft to fly us to Dili, East Timor's capital where we will begin peace keeping operations to restore order to the country. Well guys this is it, after all the going and staying over the past week or so I'm finally off. I don't know how long I'll be gone for, hopefully not to long. I'll be thinking of you guys and I look forward to seeing you and playing on the new map when I get back, if Virty has it done by then. I heard a bit of bad news the other day saying that we're going to stay here until November, nothing has comfirmed this as yet so I hope it's not true but I wont be surprised if it is. This may also be the last time I get to the internet for a while as I may be moving to a new A.O soon. Once there I'll try to find some where that has internet. Still here guys, the protests have finished for now but it is expected that there will be more. We had to go to a murder seen the other night where a guy was stabed over an argument about a girlfriend, anyway it was'nt a prety sight, the whole family was there and they were pretty emotional then we had to carry the body down the hill to the transpot to take him to the hospital. Had a busy night last night doing security for some friendly protests which took us till midnight. Last night was to also be our first fresh meal, but due to the protest we didnt get it till we got back, luckily it was still warm although I think we would have eaten it any way, we had a steak and a sosage with some salad. Best of luck to you mate. Can't imagine what a deployment like that can be in the army. Just think of me on my sub with three meals a day and a warm (but bloody tiny) bed while you're out there!
