2: Considering these two team's contrasting styles at this World Cup it will be intriguing to see how they both approach this game. It looks as if there will be no change on Portugal's part though, with two of their players going down inside the first 90 seconds.

45: Ronaldo beats two players superbly but then his ugly side resurfaces as he dives disgracefully looking for a free kick. He is up like a jack in the box as the ref waves play on but nevertheless escapes a booking.

such acts unfortunately are also counted as fouls. Tho i must say it's rather stupid rule, it's a rule.
other example can be that when some1 touch the ball with hand. it's normally not deliberately but there are penalties for that.

lol I'm not trying to defend the England team at all costs, in fact, I dont think what happened to Rooney was what caused us to go out of the tournament. The reason we went out was because we didnt play good enough, in any of our matches. Sven picked the wrong squad, played the wrong system, and some of our biggest players were anonymous.

Now does that sound like someone defending England at all cost

Rooney didnt 'stamp' on anyone, he put his foot down to keep his balance, and Carvalho was lying there after he had fallen down from trying to pull Rooney over. Just an unfortunate incident, it happens.

I watch a lot less football now than I used to, due to the amount of cheating, its disgusting.

And anyone calling Italy a defensive team clearly hasnt watched them play once in the whole tournament, as they have had some of the most attractive attacking football of any team there.

hmmmm i didnt like italy for their defensive style too ,but errrm this championship they play equally well at defense AND offense. now look at how france won against portugal. whos playing defensively now eh?
and if totti sux so what? i could even hate the whole english team coz i think rooneys face looks like bulldogs. thats would be dumb coz rooney is a good player and thats why some ppl love him.

I couldn't have said it any better myself. Obviously, because I agree with you, I'm going to say you're right. But seriously guys, he is right. That's exactly what happened and it's what most of the world now think.

Manipulating the refs isn't just a part of the game, you're not supposed to do it. Which is why people get sent off for diving etc.

The ref was contemplating awarding a free kick to Portugal after the Rooney incident, that's all, not even a yellow card - but Ronaldo interfered - his aim from the start of the match was to get Rooney sent off because he was a threat, that is bad sportsmanship and it IS cheating.

tbh I feel really sorry for ronaldo, he's just playing a game and he's got people bashing him about his every move. Poor guy.

I don't think the Rooney thing was bad at all, so what if he was trying to get Rooney thrown out, manipulating the refs is all part of the game. Rooney pushed him, which was a stupid thing to do, he was allready in the frying pan after he mashed that guy's balls. The way I see it Ronaldo played it smart and Rooney didn't. Getting mad at him about the wink is just stupid, he got shoved, he was perfectly justified in gettin back at Rooney. And for all we know he was winking at his gf in the stands anyway. The "Shush" is even stupider, that was almost certainly just him moving his lips. I don't see what's wrong with him crying over losing, when soccer players do it all the time.(once again, Beckham.) Same with him crying about falling over, almost every time someone falls over in a soccer game they are faking/exxagurating it, which again is to manipulate the refs. It's especially silly when they start calling him a cheater.

Aside from that, I honestly Portugal should have won today. That penalty was.....questionable. Seemed to me like the ball was on France's end more often, and portugal got more shots. Also seemed like they were handling it better, making some nice plays. I thought it was cool when Ronaldo got booed and then right away pwned liek 3 french guys

What a crybaby, he'd prolly start crying when his shoelaces loosen up on the pitch. I hate 'players' like that, "passion for the sport", whatever you want to call it lol.

Though I said Portugal was my favorite team for the cup, I'm glad they didn't win today.

Constant Schwalbes, asking for cards etc.
With all those names on the field, you should play ball, instead of falling down whenever someone is about to make physical contact.

France deserved to win that match, and I'm glad they did.

Now hope they beat those whiny Italians.
