So, North-Korea has a missle lined up for fire ... The US threatens that North-Korea should remove it, or action will be taken, while North-Korea replies that it has a right for a missile with which to defend themselves against America. Cold war? Cubacrisis? Anyone? _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Quote: I try to have fun with my friends and try to make a difference as best I can. What does making a difference mean? Quote: Democratic People's Republic of Korea According to my history teacher, whenever the country calls itself a Democratic People's Republic, you know its Communist. Atleast, I belive thats what she said; it was a few years ago XD. Hmm. Ulic that is an interesting thought. Just soI understand correctly, are you pointing us in the direction that NK's 'test' of the USA's missile defense was rather, infact, pushed upon NK by other countries -such as China or Russia- so that they can effectively test out the US's ability without being the aggressors, and thus not getting the blame if a war were to break out, and also not getting the full brunt of a counter-attack? If that is the case, then I think that everyone should be far more paranoid than they pretend to be, and if its not the case, then well, perhaps we are too paranoid. _______________ When you become an actor, you become the person, and you dont act anymore. Quote: why would you want to talk about this via the internet on a forum full of star wars nerds? Ahem...because not all of us are Star Wars nerds. Some people, like myself, have had the privilege of working and studying at the United Nations in NYC. Don't underestimate the backgrounds and diversities of this group. I'd be interested in further discourse about what his true motivations are. And what is going on behind China and Russia's doors that they want to talk? It is posible this is more than just some dude beating his chest, something else is going on here. North Korea wouldn't really do any such moves unless they knew someone else would be there to help them. North Korea has gotten most of their missile technology from Iran, and Russia and China are the ones who sells Iran their technology. Why would North Korea do this? What if these tests by NK are to test our missile defense system, and this has not been the first attempt to test the U.S. defense system. In April 22 2006 Russian bombers flew into the United States zone of the Artic Ocean undetected by radar or visually, and Russian officers were more than happy to tell this to the world. http://en.rian.ru/russia/20060422/46792049.html Why would Russia, if they are our allies and friends as some suggest, want to do this for? If Russia was our friend and ally, they would have not done this, and now out of the blue NK appears to be doing the same but this time with missiles? It is true that many of their missiles failed, but if China or Russia did this directly it would be a declaration of war, one which noone would be able to deny, so instead, and exactly how they did with Iraq, and are doing with Iran, they are using their puppets to do their dirty work. Perhaps in hopes that the United States would make the first move, or just to test our defense capabilities. Now that's just an interesting line of thought. I only bring it up to spur discussion. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. This comment was edited by Ulic Belouve on Jul 14 2006 05:13pm. |

Quote: Chances are though, even as think as the North Korea leader is, even they wouldn't pick a fight with the top military country. The problem is that every time his (the leader, beloved or fearless or whoever) pockets start to feel a little light, he starts squeezing his economy for more and more. Once the country starts to look like its going to cave in on itself, he starts to shake his guns at whoever looks like they would be most easily conned into offering a foriegn-aid package. Quote: Unless America makes a way to defend against nukes, fighting North Korea directly is suicide. The results would end up with America as one big mushroom cloud and North Korea the same. Chances are though, even as think as the North Korea leader is, even they wouldn't pick a fight with the top military country. Yeah no sorry. NK was aiming at Hawaii, and their missiles failed within 40 seconds. America would not be harmed by anything North Korea could throw at us. We also did activate our missile defense system and it would be interesting to see how that works in a real situation, not that I actually want that to occur. Which means North Korea would be te nuclear wasteland, we wouldn't. And the only ones claiming North Korea has a nuclear weapon is the North Koreans. They also have a very large military, and likely are aware that a lot of our military is currently occupied in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bumped because I think this topic could use more discussion. Anyway, I was talking this over with a friend over dinner last night and we got this great idea going on in our heads. First of all, China, a "critical ally of North Korea", in one of thier bluntest statements to date, has officially told NK that testing thier arsenal would be 'a bad idea.' So we figured, just in case China doesn't start tugging on NK's leash enough to get them to stand down, why don't we just turn to Japan and say, "Ya know guys, we think its about time you re-armed." Pull our troops out, and help them re-build thier standing army. I swear, it would make every country within a thousand miles defecate in thier legislature. edit:// On an unrelated note, the materials used in fueling said missle would undoubtedly corrode and decay the the housing and internals of a Taepodong ICBM in a matter of days. SO, even if this fueling did take more than three or four days to complete (I'm no rocket scientist, ask someone here thats in the military about it), then the rocket, unless emptied of its fuel, (thus an abandoned launch) would be falling apart by now. If I'm completely wrong on this, please let me know. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. This comment was edited by Sared on Jul 03 2006 01:00pm. |
