I was just doing some work on v3... and those of you who know me really well will also know that I get really silly ideas from time to time. But some of those ideas turn out to be awesome, with a little effort. Lol Anyways, I was mapping a part of v3 and I sort of built a part of the map in a really cool way that I was pretty happy with... but then I realised that as awesome as the area looked, it didn't fit in with how the rest of the map looked. So I started crying.  Then I thought... Wouldn't it be awesome if we had like... a few different "Official" JA maps? All based on different planets. Then each JA Server would be named after that planet, so instead of "JK3 Home", we'd simply have "JA - Dantooine", "JA - Yavin IV" etc. The different maps could also have different specialities and such, so if you wanted to duel, you'd go to Yavin, if you wanted to use the Force, you'd go to Dantooine, if you wanted to use guns, you'd go to Corellia etc. The individual maps wouldn't be as big as v3 (which I will still build anyways), but they'd definatly serve their specific purpose. So depending on what mood you were in and what you felt like doing, you could visit different Star Wars planets, all of which have a "Jedi Academy" on them.  The only problem I can see with it right now is US Vs Euro. So maybe each Academy complex should have at least one Dueling room, so that you can have a proper duel, no matter what planet you're on. It would turn things into Role Playing more, so it's gonna feel closer to being in Star Wars. The best thing is that it serves a training purpose, too. With a map dedicated to, for example, Force usage or Movement, we'll be able to train better in there instead of having one map that has all aspects but only to some extend. The downside is we're gonna need lots of servers: 1x EU server for FFA/Duels 1x US server for FFA/Duels 1x Classes server 1x Force Training server 1x Movement Training server 1x Gun Training server That's a total of 6 servers, plus the fact that either EU or US people are still lagging, since there's, for example, just one Force training server, which can't cater for a low ping for both. Also, I didn't include the use of a CTF or possibly a Flight Server yet. This also causes people to 'scatter' over the servers. Those are the pros and cons I can think of for now. Im liking the idea, but Im not sure just how practical it´d be. If we can pull it off, it´d be awesome, though! _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. I think it would be nice, when some of these maps are finished, to test how keeping a server on rotation goes by using projects (if it isn't under use for other testing). As Jaiko mentioned, if each map has a certain aspect that it emphasizes, but also includes the other aspects, that would be rather neat. Awesome idea! I think Eica had a good plan - have different maps in one rotation rather than separate servers. We have enough troubles getting the few servers we have full.  Rotating them periodically would also help by flushing out abandoned NPCs and such. If people want to play on a certain map, it's easy enough to get someone to change it.Oh, and I would love to see something similar to the Movement map (maybe a smaller version, or a little cut-n-paste) in an official JA map. How about if the maps all had aspects for each, such as a wide area for FFA's and dueling areas for force usage etc but each map had a different functional use? I think Virtues idea is great and would give a much larger feel to the JA. I dont think virtues proposing taking the larger elements out of the new maps as opposed to giving extra features for certain areas within them. Wouldnt it be cool that you could use force sensetive objects within a given map.....or utilize and extra special FFA area for guns within different star wars enviroments all under the JA banner. Also, putting the maps in rotation would mean that if somebody wanted to use guns while on the map specilising in force, they would have to wait until the map changed. I think it would be better if it were just one map. Not to say it isn't a cool idea, but I'm not sure how it would affect activity. The many different planets may highly increase activity, but if not, the people using different servers depending on what they are training may lower activity, which isn't something we really want right now. |

Hmm... i love it... but i just think we have a hard enough time getting people on one map if we split it up like that there would never be enough people in one place. thats just my opinion still and awesome idea. tho maybe you could keep the weird stuff on the map so theres something different on the map add in some weird or cool roomsthats just my thought Kessler _______________ May The Force Be With You |

Sounds cool and all, but im agastain it 1. Having everyone on one server is better than two groups at two servers. (The more the merrier and also easier to keep 'peace') 2. Server changes if you eg. stopped FF duels and want to go and play some guns. (Also spending time trying to ask people who wants to go with you etc.) 3. Virtue will finish v3 faster without working on this project. Would be lovely to meet in a ONE big group on ONE big map! Well that's all.. for now! I'm waiting for some e-bash. Interesting idea. But it's pretty hard to have one server active nowadays, let alone three new ones. I think the idea of the academy map being set on different planets is good. But I'm not sure the JA would really be active enough to use three new servers regularly Maybe if the maps were set on rotation on one server?
