As most of you know (or who know who I am), I'm pretty much a silent partner in the JA at this point, but that doesn't mean I don't care. So here's what I'm wondering... in the absence of a new Jedi Knight game (c'mon Lucasarts, hook us up!), what can we do to keep the JA alive and thriving? Do we expand into other games? Do we simply exist the way were are as a "family" and accept that the training part is diminished as the game fade away a bit (let's be honest, it's been over 3 years since JK:JA came out)? Let me know what you think and how we can keep this place alive and keep the awesomeness that's been around for almost 4 years going well into the future.

I'm too lazy to scroll down and see who talked about Quake I with AA and bloom, etc. Quake has a MAJOR advantage: The source code has been out for at least a couple of years. JK2/JA source code: out since....well never.

I've also noticed that theres no JK2-era staff left (DAMN YOU REORGANISATION). I suppose the staff around could try to bring it (JK2) back but I guess I'd probably be like "bah this is all staged with you damn kids and your rap music."

As for JK2 classes: someone just needs to ask and I'll run my kickfighting, explosives, and blue stance classes. I guess what needs to happen is people need to stay interested, and what better way than...well...never mind. Still, I'm excited for a JK2 revitalisation.

I see, as many people have pointed out before me that everything except a suitable new game/mod is just a temporary fix/stopgap for the unactiveness/enthusiasm in the JA. I havnt played JK:JA in ages and since I got my new pc I havnt even installed it yet. Obviously waiting around on a game isnt really a great option. Modding wise, Having played pretty much all the recent games I reckon a Dark Messiah mod would be the best bet, as its melee system is the best I have ever played and its the most fun. Not to mention the endless possiblities of the physics engine and the adaptation of the 'telekenesis' spell into a 'force' and lightning shot etc. Of course I make it sound so easy, but I have really no idea of how much coding and work that would require, but certainly mapping wise at first only a simple layout map with existing textures would be fine.
It certainly would be great to be playing with everyone here again, I love this place and it certainly has a place in my heart. oh and Hello again everybody :)

It is indeed a tough situation. The only real possible successful long term change that could be made is switching games. The only problem is there is currently no star wars game out that meets the criteria of the JA, so the only option would be to chose a non SW game. That is where the main problem lies. You could never get everyone to all agree on a new game to shift focus to.

People probably do not want to hear what I am about to say next but sadly is a possible future. If the JA does not find a new game or some way to make jk2/jk3 successful again in the near future, the JA will most likely slowly deteriorate and have very few active members left. It is already started to happen. The servers have not been near as active as they have been in the past

I ask everyone to be open to change because if you are not the JA will slowly crumble until no one is left.

Well i won't be free at all really until after the 25th at the earliest, stupid exams. :(

To address Masta's comments: Personally i wasn't really thinking of this idea in the long term. I agree that it won't completley re-energise TJA, however i think that even if it only draws players back for a week it will be worth it, after that we'll just have to think of something else to keep everyone entertained. :)

I quite like some of the ideas being put forward here, however i think that in order for this to be truly succesful then it needs to grab the attention of the newer members, members who play JK3 primarily, if the JAK+ could arrange a series of events that cover a week (some tournements do work), and make it more than just a case of playing JKII again, then hopefully the 'event' will get the numbers it needs to prove succesful.

A class for JKII could be part of this, it would only have to run for a week or so, depending on interest, yet it would offer something a little different from the current norm.

However this really needs to be put forward as a news bulletin if the staff are serious about trying the idea, it is much more likely to fail if the only information and q & a is in this thread in my opinion.

Personally, i cannot see how this is supposed to be the saving grace for the JA. Re-trying the implementation of a concept which has failed countless of times in the past seems to be quite a risky endeavour, and i'd estimate the chances for success minimal at best.

Most of the periodical jk2-resurrection movements are met with great public support at first, and mostly climax even before anysort of action has been taken. The general euphoria and momentum caused by such resurfacing of nostalgia usually doesn't even make it past the first week. In this case, the rolling snowball shatters on the smallest stone.

Maybe if we had some publicity from the JAC's and other JAT's it would pick up more recognition. That would definatly help it flourish a bit.
Yes, but would it suffice? For how long would it be able to stabilize interest and activity in jk2 - especially with people getting seriously bored with jka already?
I'd estimate that even if you guys would mostly succeed, the jk2 servers would show sporadic activity for maximal a month or so ~ and would return to being completely abandoned right after; putting us back into the very situation we're in atm.

However, i cannot say that i have a better idea myself. Sadly, most of the multiplayer-compatible SW games out there don't seem to be on par with jka quality-wise etc...

Hi everyone.

Yes, me again.

I personally think you should go one more step further and dedicate one of the servers back to Jedi Outcast. So we don't just have to play the game at class times, but whenever we feel like it.
Of course it'll be a problem picking a server. if it's in America, people from Europe will have sucky pings and vice versa.
But after some discussion, I'm sure that we can come to a conclusion fairly easy.

I'm always up for a fight in JK2 to be honest! ;)
We have a dedicated JK2 server, it's called [JA]Home and it's always up, check the servers page.;)

Well i was on JA home for about 20 minutes and no one showed.

What we need is a JAT who's been around a while to host a JK2 class. Xanatos tried to last year but it didnt work. Maybe if we had some publicity from the JAC's and other JAT's it would pick up more recognition. That would definatly help it flourish a bit.

C'mon Staff, we need some red/yellow/blue stance classes and maybe a movement class :D

Edit: I just noticed that all the instructors are from the JK3 Era. Maybe a reason things got a little quiet here is because the upper-management totally focused on JK3, hence the stirring of oldbies at the name of JK2.

Time to get some JK2 instructors!

THIS IS AN AWESOME IDEA!

I'd like to mention that the single saber is also "broken" with JKA along with the mutiple saber styles, some stances more than others. JK2's saber system is much more consistent and free of any saber "exploits," but happens not to have any multiple saber types. You should be focusing your interest on bringing back JK2's cleaner, glitch-free saber combat system instead of thinking that eliminating multiple saber types is the solution to this problem. JK2 just happens not to have staff and duals.

ok, then we'll change it to "say no to multiple saber types unless you are going to release a game that does it properly"
