Regarding servers

I've noticed all the servers to my knowledge now use basejka. This is great, but it's not as fun as when we used JAE. In JAE, we could have multiduels and such, use emotes etc.

Now with basejka, it seems all people do is train or ffa, and the dueling is just about worthless when there's no HP regeneration/multiple dueling allowed.
Here's my idea that could keep all sides happy:

Basejka : JAA Longhorn/Jaktorow TFFA
Basejka : Classes Servers
JAE 1.02: Home Servers

Basejka on the JAA due to the practice needed for JAA's competition. Also on the classes servers so that the students are learning on an unmodded server.

JAE on the Home servers, as to my understanding, the Home ones are meant to be more fun/hang out servers, where JAE would better suit that.

That actually may be a good idea. JAE has the tools to better teach.

It is _IMPOSSIBLE_ to make a server mod without messing with the game's physics in some way. One extra line of code, and bam, new damage system. Basejka+ mod is an older server mod. All the developer did was add a couple of rcon commands for TFFA, and the damages are amazingly jumpy with almost no block at all.

The point I guess I'm trying to make, is that JAE is NOT basejka, but it did a hell of a good job not changing the gameplay beyond belief. The only thing that I see a major change in is the blue lunge; almost always a one hit kill.

You could also say that this setup is better:

JAE: Classes Servers
Basejka: Home Servers

This way, people can learn on JAE with the aid of its teaching-friendly features and actually utilise what they have learned, train themselves and get experience on basejka.

I personally would prefer this setup too.

What I really want to throw in here is that you please do not forget one aspect: the JAE mod was made for the Academy, with the purpose to provide students with an environment that guarantees you a friendly and informative gaming experience, plus providing the teachers with all the tools they need to keep the learning experience in classes slick and clean.

Of course we all know that the mod is not perfect, but this is by far not Chosen One's fault who did a great effort on this. I do not want to start another JAE/Base debate. I just want to say that the JAE mod IS suited for a Jedi Academy because of the points I stated above.

I do not mind however, when there are some servers who feature base (as I am with Sete's suggestion on this one)

Just my 2 cents here :)

JAE is also the JA's official mod. After all the work Chosen did on this since 2002 in jk2, we're throwing the mod away after the project is finish x.x

I'd say stick with base. The fighting is much more clean, and that's the most important part to me. Learning should be done on basejka.

You can duel without actually engaging - just get an opponent, find a room and start fighting. When you need more health, you can use force heal or drain or if you're in a dueling room, you can go and pickup some health from one of the corners by the door.

JK3 Home and Classes still use JAE.

I kind of agree with you...

However, I have yet to contact higher up's to have 89.185.239.61:29851 [JA] (Euro Classes) server added as official JA server, as it's not mentioned anywhere on the website as of yet...

The name can be altered of course, however when all servers were out, I simply named it as such, so people could have classes and place to play at. This server will be running for like a year and if interest continues, I'll renew it once the agreement with the provider expires.

However, that's not subject of this tpic. I do agree that JAE mod is more fun, while yeah, learning and training should be done on basejka... not up to me to decide that tho. :)

Just my rant to the topic!
