Well guys, here goes, I am announcing the start of a Red Only Tournament which will commence on Friday 9th of January.
All Entrants must apply before the 6th of January 2009. I am putting this thread up now, so there is plenty of notice for those who don’t regularly check the forums. If this tournament is a success and runs smoothly, then there could be Yellow and Melee ones to follow, with the potential for a 2 v 2 in the future. If you are interested please Sign up below. All members of TJA community are welcome. As well as the Aurochs. Please could you cite your time zones when you sign up. The Rules are; Excessive use of Extensions is discouraged. No Force Powers. No Poking / Wiggling etc. (No Mercy lol). Preferably get a Ref to over see it. But its not Essential. Initial rounds will be best of 7, increasing as the tournament furthers. It's still a good idea to put out all the rules when you can; you want people to know what exactly they will be going by.
You might want to request timezones early so you can organize matches accordingly. Some people might not log on to the forums for a few days and it could delay things a little. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." This comment was edited by Augusta_Mintaka on Dec 26 2008 02:38pm. |

Quote: Although I can't make it (a lot to do next few weeks) I could suggest a few things to shape the tourney up a little more.
A bracket system for people to view could help people figure out who they fight next easier. I believe http://www.bracketmaker.com/ should suffice (although I have never used it before). Having everybody post their timezones can help out. Putting people who are close to their own timezones will speed up the competition's progression. You also want to consider technical rules like when somebody is inactive, how long until they become disqualified. Try covering all the bases you can think of. I think you can also consider how you would get demos of the fights. Everybody likes seeing a good fight and it's good to have if anybody ever has a problem with a match. Thank you for your suggestions Amik, I have already looked at bracketmaker, I havnt used it myself either but it looks reasonably straight forward. As for the time zones and inactive entrants, I was gonna to mention those on the closing date for entrants. The situation with awarding of byes will be much the same as the TIT tournament. Also with the rule of "Excessive use of Extensions is Discouraged" I will request demos are taken if needs be. Unless the bout is watched by a referee who possesses enough knowledge to able to call whether attack was fair or not. Thank you very much for the suggestions though . It is unfortunate that you wont be able to enter but hopefully if this goes well you can enter the Yellow, Melee or 2 v 2, which might happen in the future. _______________ <MaherSenatu> guh... you are just... I'm in also but that "no extensions" rule is not one I agree with. I understand you guys (like the Aurochs) don't play with exploits but c'mon, let's be serious ... extensions are not exploits. |

I'm not sure banning those moves is a good idea. Perhaps you should just say "excessive" <insert move here> is discouraged. Have demos encouraged since it's a good thing to have if fights are ever disputed. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |
