A... A... Activity?

yes, activity. do it like me: grab a beer, hop on the empty server, tune in some music and wait a bit. an 2,5h later: Clicky!

So please everyone who is whining about low activity: stop it and actually get on the servers. People will join when they see others online. If you are still unsure take another look at the picture and at the simple instruction on how I did it.

sincerely yours with mucho <3,
Laz

I heard there were 10 people on last night! Too bad I missed it. I've been re-watching the old Star Wars trilogy the past few days. Tonight will be the re-airing of the pro bowl, so I can't make it early tonight either. After that, it'll be hard to get rid of me :P

P.S.: 10 people = the 2011 record! :D

There is absolutely NO fighting or agressive action unless agreed upon. If someone is attacking you against the rules, don't fight back. That simply lowers yourself to their level and further irritates the situation. Tempers rise, names are called, and bans are handed out when this happens, so take the high road. If someone is bothering you tell a staffmember. If it continues, report it to a staffmember, switch to spectator or take a break to calm down.

Along the same lines, it is not allowed to attack someone while they are typing (unless the typing icon appears while you are in the middle of an attack).

JAK+ is still following this rule and enforces it... Laming isn't allowed even if the intention of lamer is good... IF friends need to fun lame each other, don't do it at front of JAK+ ->

Reason; you are giving an example that rules are question of interpretation while in fact rules are absolute...

Laming isn't allowed, period...

Btw thanks guys, Dash's solution worked for me! :)

Awesome, good to hear you got things working!

EDIT: Rahn, Mike, I couldn't agree with you more concerning people's behavior and rule enforcement and
such :)

Yeah, I mean it doesn't bother me all that much if I'm on the server with my old pals and they stab me in the face, but when I'm trying to duel someone (albeit outside of the in-game duel engagement mechanic) and a complete stranger comes up and starts hacking at me, I take some objection. Especially with a couple of the JA's staffers on hand. :P

From what I can tell it is overall more liberal with rule enforcing. We often randomly slash at each other, but no one would do so if they knew that you are seriously disturbed by it.

In general people stop when you ask them not to kill you just for the heck of it.

The interesting part is, that even a shout in global chat like "STOP LAMIN ME!" is nowadays mostly a joke rather than a serious request.

So before each and every bit of possible funny nonsense gets "JAK+"ed, I guess we observe and wait for complains more rather than immediatly jumping into action.

Let me describe it once more with a short example:

-Imagine you are the fire brigade and a couple of years ago you acted on your own once you saw a fire.
- Then a year ago you only took action when somebody called you that there is a fire, because people were unhappy that you were patrolling the streets with the siren on all day long.
- Finally since a couple of month you do not even react immeadiatly when somebody shouts "FIRE" because it's been mostly a prank call lately, so you wait and see if the fire calls come in a couple of times by different people, then you get up to take a look. And IF it should really be a fire, then you get out into action.

Uh... I hope I have confused no one, because I am not too sure If I am not confused now as well. (where did I put my Maher pills, they usually help)

Yeah, you baffled me! :P

All I'll say is this. If you walk into a room and see two people playing chess, you don't pull up a chair and start putting your pieces on the board.

He cut off Darth Vader's hand and kicked him down a flight of stairs. He got his @$$ zapped by lightning from the geezer Emperor, stood up and said "s'at all you got b!tc#??"

Yeah, I hopped on the euro server for a while yesterday. It was nice to see actual people. :D

Admittedly, it was more like being on a public FFA server than a JA server, considering how people were behaving...but I guess after this long you gotta take what you can get? ;)

what problems do occur on your end? I myself run a 64bit Windows 7 and have no troubles with JK3 whatsoever - so maybe we can find out why your OS is stubborn :)

It crashes on the splash screen. I'm also on 64bit Windows 7. Wahhh!

I also had that problem and I found a solution that worked for myself. I posted it here.

Mike, I had the exact same problem and it probably is a driver issue. This solution here worked for me, but it obviously depends on what type of video card you're using. (Mine's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.) I hope this works for you too :)

It's good to see there's activity. I hope to be around over the weekend some more, but since I have a pair of tests coming up next Monday, I don't know if there'll be sufficient time.

P.S.: 9 people = the 2011 record!
