Concerning Vladarion | |
planK - Jedi Council |
Over the past few months it has become apparent to the Jedi Academy's senior staff that the apparently tragic events that lead to countless tributes being made to Vladarion and his memory have turned out to be untrue.
With this in mind, the JA has opted to remove Vladarion from the Hall of Fame. Action in regards to the "the_academy_v3" map memorial will be taken at a later date. On behalf of all of the JA's administrative staff involved, I would like to apologise to all of those affected by the initial events which took place in 2003 and lead to the various tributes made. The JA believed all correspondence in regards to Vladarion's apparent death to be genuine and sincere. Keep ALL discussion of this matter on this thread. Any new threads on any section of the forums regarding this will be closed. Any posts made on this profile or anywhere else found to be in violation of the JA rules will be deleted and the poster will face official warning or closure of their site account. Flaming, disrespect, trolling or any other rule infractions will not be tolerated and dealt with accordingly. This is a delicate subject. Treat it with respect. Thank you. |

That's f------ ridiculous...
What kind of person would go through the effort of faking their death, or that of a loved one, over a video game? I can't say that I've ever invested emotionally in my dealings online, and in this case over Vladarion, but I realized the gravity of someone who was well liked, and respected by his peers, passing away. Likewise, I saw it appropriate that a virtual memorial was erected.(A mistake in hindsight I suppose) But telling me it was all a lie only gives credence to the philosophy of remaining personally, and emotionally detached in most circumstances regarding the internet. If you haven't called them up on the phone, and spoke to them often on topics of a personal nature, you really don't know them. But what do I know? _______________ Comments Owned- Darth Mike's100th. im not surprised that he said he doesnt know TJA when he was asked (recently?). i mean when he faked his death i guess he was willing to detach himself from this place completely. and lets see... how many years have passed since then?
he didnt care when he did that (or maybe he cared so much that it ate too much of his time, then again i didnt know him so thats not for me to say), he didnt care afterwards and he surely doesnt care now. neither should we. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. mike mike mike, you know full well this would bring my arse out of the shadows. For you to expect me not to say anything hostile on this matter would be like trying to take oreos from a fat man's hand, ain't gonna happen...
*Takes a deep breath* The heinousness (dont care how its spelled) of this is immense. I attended/spoke at this c#$kgobbler's internet funeral. I actually spoke with this seed guzzling douche canoe and became friends with him as did a few others I know. The sheer fact that anyone would feel compelled to put good people through such a thing is the act of an .... yeah, ill stop that sentence there. people who know me, know what I was gonna say. It's my firmest belief that this man should have his reproductive organ removed, attached to his forehead, tie his hands, set it on fire, and make him watch whilst repeatedly getting kicked in the face with a golf cleat. FOR STARTERS! I deeply apollogize to everyone that has read this, but, better for me to type it in a forum than go to jail for actually doing it. (those who know me, know i would) I for one do not wish this guy well, I hope in fact that his house dies and his mother starts on fire. (stolen from tallepyon) delete this if you will but I will repost and it will get worse. This is as tame as this subject will get for me. |

It's a strange situation - despite all the goofy stuff, he was never anything less than a pleasant person to be around, and I certainly don't wish death upon anyone but I can definitely understand why some people are quite upset about this.
I also understand and relate to a lot of comments which were made in jest about this situation that were removed, but please keep in mind that some older members of the JA community are pretty hurt by this and there's a certain threshold in regards to humour and making fun of this situation that shouldn't be broken. Anyway, no big deal. Let's get over it. |

Just a friendly reminder. And just for the record, I have full admin access to this site while we get ready for SWTOR, and don't have much of a problem with closing people's accounts for a few weeks if they can't handle themselves with a bit of maturity here. The one about Vladarion Memorial that is about no combat etc. After all, you wiped other information about him. Rather better to delete it before changing stuff for Dante. Clearly no one wants to remember how TJA was deceived. Right now many might think that he was a very good troll. Anyway, idea to change memorial to Dante is quite good. Frankly, not many players play JK3 nowadays, so it is not that urgent. The Academy should focus on The Old Republic, as the game is really good and not grindy, compared 2 WoW and such. For now everyone should be happy that the guy is not dead. Think about it, he has a wife and a child. Wish that he did it just to get over with the game, not to troll people. Good input my young padawan! I think it was a way for him to exit the community or gaming in general. The evidence I've seen really points to it being legitimate. _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist |

As for the SWTOR stuff, keep your eyes peeled for news in the coming weeks. |

We're 100% positive. I obviously can't elaborate on how we are so positive, because we don't want anyone else identifying or contacting him. Obviously, there are hundreds of thousands with their names, but we are 100% certain of this. |

I wasn't around back then but I can attest to how Vladarion's apparent death was still something that resonated years later when I did join. We've spent months checking, double checking and triple checking this. And then we did it again.
The internet is a strange place, and many use it to live out fantasy. Myself and others have been guilty of this. Personally, I think this is a case of Vladarion becoming too engrossed in gaming with the JA community, perhaps affecting his personal or professional life, and needed a way out. I can understand to a degree, but I actually contacted him and I didn't exactly get a positive response. Anyway, while I fully understand your doubts - and believe me, I wish it wasn't true either - we've not taken this lightly and it was an incredibly difficult discussion to have behind the scenes and figure out how we were going to handle this. It's an emotional subject for many of the older members of the JA community, hence why we were so adamant that this subject be treated with respect. This sucks, but the internet is a weird place, and it happens. |

Yeah, I'd like to ask the same question. I don't mean to second guess anyone as I'm sure you've done your research, but something's bothering me about this. Vladarion's described as being a friendly, helpful and overall examplary person. He has kept this attitude up for at least several months during the time he was active. Assuming his attitude was a genuine/sincere one based on this, it's rather out of character for someone with such a great attitude to do something so terrible. It may not mean anything, but it's just something that doesn't add up to me. Anyways, I wanted to post this here and not state it anywhere else, because this thread has been designated as the place to discuss all this. That's... wow... Rather lost for words here...
Are you 100% sure it's the same person? I mean of course the odds are slim but there could be another Dennis Allen married to a Kimberly somewhere in the same region? I know of at least one couple in the province where I live who shares my, and my wife's, name. You have undoubtedly put much effort in finding the truth on this matter before making an official statement about it, however it just feels so wrong to me... Adding to that, I can fully understand if this is not something you wish to discuss on this forum. Yeah, so to make this clear, Vladarion is in fact alive.
Earlier this year several JA members found Vladarion on facebook and Dennis Allen turned up (Vladarion's real name). To put this in perspective, Vladarion allegedly died at the end of 2003. Facebook was created in 2004. Further, you can find evidence of him commenting recently in January 2011 and he also responded to Mike around the same time, claiming to have no knowledge of TJA and to leave him alone. He not only has the same name and details as he did in 2003, his facebook page also features his wife Kimberley Allen and his friends are completely different to his wife's, so it's clearly not just some page set up by his wife in honor of his death or something. Vladarion has deceived the lot of us. Many thousands of past and present JA members, and even those who are not members. For that, he is a total, inconsiderate douch. Either his wife got upset that he was spending so much time at the JA and decided to write a load of fake stuff about him dying, or Vladarion wrote it all himself and faked the e-mails from his wife. Either way it was a sick, sick joke and unbecoming of all the things that were written about him. And now we will honor someone who is actually deserving of our respect: Dante Valmont, who we actually know is genuine. And guys who were hoping your poems and tributes would be read by Vladarion... well they just might have. This comment was edited by Virtue on Nov 03 2011 09:55pm. |
