people looking for a padawan try looking in the looking for the master section and ask someone if they would like to be your padawan.

I can take on a unofficial Padawan.
I'll train you with a Single saber, and a saberstaff. I'll teach you the Light Side of the Force.

I will also teach all three styles with a single saber. Mail me, or leave a message at my profile.

If someone still wanna fight JK2 NF duels with old bird like me, gimme a shout in my profile. I've been inactive loooong time in JA, but I've kept (most of) my skills up to date in duels. Perhaps there's something I could show to you and of cource, I could also learn new tricks :)

I'm one of the few who wanna keep JK2 alive, so join me and send me a message :)

Nice one again Tido...another reason why I'm your fan :D

I just wanted to add to Tidos comments. Finding a master is like finding a best friend. You dont go around asking everyone to be your best friend. It just happens. There is commitment from both sides, both in respect and both in trust.

There are 15 JAK's, 11 JAT's, 5 Staff, 5 Council members and 7500 members - 1770 active. The chances are that you will learn most things from the classes and other students or padwans - NOT a bad thing....if only 10% are anywhere as useful as Tido then there are 177 Tido's out there:D (Sorry Tido....I had to add that bit...:P)

When I joined I was cr*p...I always got my backside kicked...now...I get it kicked in STYLE.

This place is about the students. We make or break this place....and you lovely people are doing a marvelous job sharing and caring...this is why I love this place!

Keep it up everyone.

VIVA LA ACADEMY!!!

You don't have to have [JAK] by your name to help out around here. Knights are awesome, but it's JAS/JAPs like us that either make this place great or make it worthless.

I think I speak for a lot of students in this:

Getting an 'official' master is tough and takes time. You don't want to spend all your time here just relentlessly pursuing JAK+ to be your master, so I recommend you first turn to other students for training.

I'm sure you are familiar with the term 'unofficial master' - where someone who is not a ranked member takes you as their padawan. This is a great thing and just because someone doesn't have a [JAK] by their name doesn't mean they are less of a master.

However some of the more experianced students are a bit hesitant to 'take a padawan'. I personally do not take unofficial padawans. I DO however, have students that I help, train with, and generally keep an eye on. The vast majority of the student body is the same way. We do not yet feel like we are really 'masters', but we are more than happy to help newer students achieve.

For you new students, heed this message. Your fellow JAS are an awesome resource for learning. Don't worry so much about finding a master right away - over time it will become more clear to you who your master should be. Until then, work with the other students to advance in skill. Make friends and enjoy yourselves. Feel free to contact anyone for help - that is what the JA is all about.

Lets look at it from a Knight's perspective: there are two new students. One has joined and learned that Knights, Trainers, etc take Padawans and train them. He really likes this idea and spends his time looking for a master. He goes to all the JAK+ asking them (occasionally multible times) if he can be their Padawan - even if the JAK+ has never met/heard/seen them before. This puts the Knight (or other rank) in a very uncomfortable situation: having to let some poor chap down. The Knight doesn't know the student; much less if the student has an attitude that the Knight approves of, what the student's intentions are, or if the student is even going to be there next month. The student's intentions are good, but his goals are misleading him.

The other new student spends his time training with his fellow students. He is involved in sparring and discussions on how to improve. He has fun and is getting to know the other students. He recognizes the value of classes and attends them. JAK+ can relax when he comes to talk to them because they know he isn't coming to ask them for Padawanship.

If you were a Knight, who would you choose to be your Padawan? I think most would choose the 2nd student. For a Knight (or other rank), taking a Padawan is a sacrifice of time. It's important to them that their sacrifice is not wasted. That's why Knights wait until they are confident that the student is 'trainable'. Good luck!

Maybe now would be a good time to mention...

This thread is for people who are interested in training a padawan, and don't have anyone in particular in mind (otherwise they'd just post on the person's profile). If you're wanting to BE a padawan, go post on the "Looking for a master?" thread. OK? :)

Alrite Taking Acey's insightful post into mind here are the specifics:

GameName: AngelD'Kana
Saber: Single And A Little Bit Of Dual Sabers
Personal Style: Crimson Rain:P(A combination of Red Stance with arial movement splashing in yellow where appropriate for a strong offense/defense combo :D)
Other Skills: Yellow Stance, Movement, Force
Timezone: GMT -5 (i will take on as far as GMT -7 to GMT +1 depending on how willing you are :))
Prerequisite: Be dedicated I don't want someone who is going to quit because they cant get something right the first time, knowledge comes with time :) have patience that is all i request from you :)

SIDENOTE: it has come to my attention that many of you have been asking how to become a D'Kana and the response often given is to become the padawan of one THIS IS NOT ENTIRELY THE CASE. While u have to be the padawan of one, merely being the padawan of one doesnt automatically make you a D'Kana. So if you see this as an oppertunity to be a D'Kana and only that, then turn away now :) this is a chance to make a friend and to learn the skills for the game :) Your attitude is what dictates whether you become one or not, some will recieve the name at the time of joining this name can be removed from you if ur attitude falters but it can also be given mid training as their attitude changes and unfolds :). So please when u take me up on this offer look past the name D'Kana and see the offer i am making for what it is :)

IF INTERESTED PLEASE POST ON MY PROFILE ILL GET BACK TO U ASAP :D

I'm curious as to how this thread has turned out. sure I'm all for students sharing their knowledge of what they know of the game and how to play it either a certain way or multiple ways.
From my opinion I believed this thread was mostly for JAK+ to post if they are taking a padawan with certain specifics so they aren't spammed with messages in their profile, Messages through IRC or even ask many a time and occasionally nagged while in game. Also hopefully this thread has stopped most of those " I need a Master/knight/teacher" threads that seemingly kept popping up each week in the forums and either ignored or posted the same couple of posts within it.

I see a padawan not just as someone that has a Master, and not someone who is more than a student. I've seen many a normal student advance the ranks faster than padawans of knights and trainers.

I myself in my time here as a student for a year have been the padawans of two great trainers. the first was Luke Skywalker. and the reason I stepped down from that as I believed myself unable to keep up with being his padawan as I was unable to meet up at the same time as him. This also happened with Lord ExarKun another kickass trainer. we were able to meet up for a couple of trainin sessions and yet RL interviened and our training sessions came to an end. There is nothing wrong with stepping down from being a padawan and returning to the tag of a Student. it does not make you a failer or less of a dueler or gunner. depending on your preference.

There is no point in being a padawan if your on totally different times as your master

Secondly I'm all for Students sharing their gathered knowledge together and meeting up to train together. I'm even for the occasional un-official Padawans that have popped up all over the place. although I seemed to have noticed that people believe that by posting here people will flock to them vying for their attention to share their knowledge of what is offered.. hence this quote from a post
Quote:
*cough* everyone is ignoring my offer..

Just because no one responded to the offer doesn't mean they are ignoring it.. I suggest with students wishing to take on a training partner or even an Un-official Padawan. Post here the specifics of what you have to offer. like your personal style and attitude, what information and skills you wish to share. like this for myself in a way..

Gamename = Acey Spadey
Saber = Dual
Personal style/attitude = Dual Acrobatic (Dual skills combined with plenty of movement)
Other Skills = Demo/Movie Making, Screenshot composing and taking/ general game practice/ tips for private training/ Movement training/ Dual training(combos/movement/specials).

so that is just an example.. Also get to know who you want to train with. it's no point adding them as an un-official paddy when you finally get to know them and well.. basically don't like their attitude and dump them a week later or ignore them.

so take care kiddies and be wary what you post and preach and promise.

Well ppl guess what...I've decided to take on a SECOND padawan.:D My reasons for this are the help i feel it will bring to my padawans to train them together than one at a time. If you have someone learning the exact same thing at the exact same time as you then you will have someone to practice and train with on the specific aspect of what ur learning :) It is because of this that I think you as a padawan would get alot out of this seeing as i already have a padawn already , NomiD'Kana :). With my intentions set and my promise of a worth while training made i copy my specifications from last time:
I wont take on just anyone. If you are interested then please leave me a post on my profile. I only ask that you be somewhat active so that i can get the chance to know you and what kind of person you are. I teach Single Saber both Red and Yellow, SOME Dual Sabers and both force sides however lightside preffered. now I want to take the time to point out that being a padawan is MORE than being a student. I will gladly help teach anyone who requests it BUT i wont take just anyone on as a padawan :) Also u can let me know if u see me on a server :)
I REQUEST YOU POST ASAP SO I CAN POSSIBLY FIT U IN ON MONDAY FOR TRAINING WITH ME AND NOMI :)
