I have heard rumors, stories, tales that astound and amaze, of a video card made by the blacksmith ATI. ATI has aparently forged a card so powerful, that he has endowed it with the name......Radeon! He has fused this new Radeon with 512 megabytes of RAM, enough to destroy any graphics engine we know.... This is my quest: to find the One, and to, by some means, aqquire it. If you, dear traveler, would help me on my quest, you would be most appreciated.  _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

Sared: Dont be silly and buy 512 Megs of Video RAM. I've read several tests that said that even 256 compared with 128 didnt make much of a difference. Read this review of the Geforce FX 5900: http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030512/index.html And to quote the most important part of the conclusion: "Today, NVIDIA is once again proving that it is a company that can learn from its mistakes. A mere three months after the troubled launch of the FX 5800 Ultra, we are seeing the introduction of a successor that addresses and fixes all of the weaknesses of the original part. The memory bus has been widened to 256 bits and the GPU has been treated to a number of refinements. Although NV35 runs 50 MHz slower than its older sibling, this is virtually unnoticeable. The fact is that the enormous bandwidth of the improved 256-bit memory interface can easily pick up the slack and then some. Now, the FX 5900 is able to outpace the Radeon 9800 PRO in all relevant benchmarks and can reclaim the performance throne for NVIDIA. Actaully Beast, the Radeon 9700 All in Wonder has 256. However the Radeon 9700 Pro does have 512 (its the only one with those amount). However if you really really wanna rock, go get the newest Fire GL from ATI. Its a computer animators dream (im still saving up for it, when they were showing it off at the Game Developers Conference it had a price tag of $3,000 |

First... Sared, sorry to disappoint you but you've been deceived... maybe by the dark side of the force... but ATI's strongest card has only 256 mg onboard. Second, I would recommend getting an ATI card (I have a 9500 Pro and it's doing great even with the newer games like Vietgong)... but everyone has their idea made up about the 2 company (Nvidia vs ATI) and nobody wants to hear the things the other side has to say... but that's how it is done in the fantastic world of graphic card... Viva ATI... Hmm, sounds good, still, I would at least like to FIND this new Radeon I keep heariong about, I mean, COME ON! Why wouldnt I jump for anything with 512 megs of onboard?
