Okay about time I edited this thread after 1/2 year of life. Can you imagine SW if there was only the Dark or the Light side??? It would *definitely* _STINK_! However, which is more powerful? I think it's the Dark Side: => More Jedi fall to the d/s than Sith/Dark Jedi go to the l/s (MANY more) => Look at the duels (in the movies). You see the Sith being calm (prolly fighting more than one Jedi) and the Jedi being ready to shit on themselves  => The d/s force powers are offensive (used to kill  ) whereas the l/s force powers are defensive. And we all know the best defense is offense  => NORMALLY, when some Jedi fights a Sith the Sith has the Force Power advantage. Not many Jedi can absorb D/S Force Powers. They must be really trained, and that's unusual. OK Yoda is the force beast (I mean he handles the force like no-one else can, hmm, maybe like Palpatine, just maybe, but prolly a bit more) so he was really cool defending against Dooku's force powers. But, see, Dooku was less trained than Yoda in the Force and still he could attack him alright without losing (lightsaber fight is something else, not concerning the Force Sides). So as you can see less trained D/Sers can beat the hell outta a Jedi using the force alone  (don't include Yoda eh)=> And well, after seeing the movies, haven't you noticed how much cooler the Sith are than the Jedi?  ******BTW: Who wants to see a Yoda VS Palpatine fight on ep3!!!???****** _______________ Your friends of today, are your enemies of tomorrow. I think the Dark Side has different powerfull Force abilities. Like the Fight between Dooku and Yoda. Dooku used lightning, but yoda did not, he could reflect it or absorb it but did not use a power that was similar to it. That makes the Dark Side strong, but not Stronger. The dark side uses their power more for destroing things, and the light side does not. The darkside does not make you go beyond your potential, it merely brings out your full potential because you no longer practice the restraint taught by the lightside. The down side is that you dont control darkside power, it controls you, you basically become a slave to it. A very wise Jedi with a powerful mind, like Luke Skywalker, can harness their true potential while staying in the light, therefore keeping their sanity and control over the situation. So, while much more difficult to harness, I believe the lightside is stronger. Also, your comment about offense and defense is simple semantics, it depends on the person. Adding to Xylo. The Dark Side is like a drug, it can enhance you beyond your potential and what not. However, the longer it courses through your vains, the more energy it requires. Palpatine=Long Term Effects of the Dark Side's Grip. IT's true. IN the rpg, you have to start making hp checks after youve converted to the dark side, every time you lose to a check, you lose vitality. The dark side does kill you. The light side does not, though in the NJO, luke stresses how exhausting it can be when tapping deeply into the force, himself nearly collapsing after saving Jacen from the Yuuzhan Vong in Dark Tide PArt 1. However, there is no end in the light side. A paladin knight is born through the ultimate sacrifice, there he loses his physical form and becomes one with the force, generating a spiritual form, hence, Obi-Wan. However years after ROTJ Obi-Wan tells luke that his ability to maintain his spirit form is diminishing, and he slowly fades away. Therefore, rather than rot myself into a friggin prune (palpatine) I would choose the noble light side, despite its harder path. _______________ -If a Jedi ignites his lightsaber, he must be ready to take a life. I think that thier equal. true more jedi do fall to the dark side, but falling shows that they have weak minds. it shows that they cannot resist temptation. Haveing a strong mind, thinking clearly in battle and in life, is nessisary. therefor, the jedi are equal to the sith, just in different areas. sith are stronger physicly, jedi are stronger mentally. Both sides have to be equal. The d/s certainly isn't stronger, as evidenced in the duel between Yoda and Dooku. In addition, the Sith aren't always calmer than Jedi, also evidenced in the duel between Yoda and Dooku. In that fight, you had the pinnacles of light and dark Jedi, and the Force itself was in balance...It was the skills of the duelers that made the difference. Also, Yoda was much more calm than Dooku, which gave him the upper hand. Yoda had been around long enough to know that a light Jedi had nothing to fear from the dark side. Someone made the remark that the dark side can kill the user...but the Force itself, regardless of side, does that. In the EU, one of the students at Luke's academy (Dorsk 81, I believe) used enough light side force power (the collective power of all of his fellow students channeled through him) to blow a fleet of Star Destroyers completely out of the system. He was also killed in the process by the sheer power of the light side. In the end, the two are equal. D/S is tra5h, L/S pwnz joo. really now though, we've discussed this before and everyone knows that darksiders suck because they have to try and cheat to do anything and they still lose. Its not our fault that the only l/s that is showcased btw is not cool. l/s is just as easily awesome as d/s it just doesn't make for as good of a movie if the main character is just a badass who can't be beat. Well Jaws not every jedi can be as strong as dooku or possess the experiance to resist a dark force powers. Yes in some ways the dark side is stronger but The light side was able to train themselfs to sheild or resist the harming effects of the dark side. Wel, like Obi says, depends on your point of view. for example: If you see that there are only 2 Sith Lords and the jedi have a real problem with just those 2, than the Dark Side is stonger. If you see that The Jedi have defeaten the Sith more than once, than the Light Side is stronger, But I agree with Bail, they are even strong. And the strengt also depends of the person itself. Like Obi-1 was not strong enough to defeat Dooku alone.
