You know, I;m wondering if the Council people ever think things through real well. You close threads that are jokingly, and even SAY so, that they are "tongue-in-cheek". You harp on anyone who might offend YOU, but never mind how you might offend the little guy. You're the Council. You're the head instructor. You made the JA Mod. Big deal. You should be subject to the same thing. Regular guys post an offensive pic...whoo boy, dive for cover. But a Council guy posts a porn link in IRC, well, he's still around. You get all the unbalanced crap out there, and what's wors, it's not unbalanced because you are right, but unbalanced because you guys don't think. And then you send me a "this is not the place for it, Ulic, file your complaints with the Council." For the 20th time, I have. You guys slip away with the whole "we're not perfect". Well neither are we. But we get the two warning limit. You guys must be on your tenth. I also know for a fact that I've pissed off the Council. I'm almost certain now that Huxley is against me, he has been for a while. And the undeniable fact: you make rank by sucking up to the Council. That's how I made Knight in 2 months, but since I stepped down and refuse to suck up to such incompetence, I'll never get back to Knight. So you point at me for racism stuff. It was joking around. What about all the blonde jokes, or priest jokes? Where's the offensiveness in that? Maybe I'm just being a bitch. But I'm tired of the rogue, random acts of the Council. So close this one too. It threatens you, the council. You can't stand to have someone point out the fact that the Council may not be effective as a whole. It's a game, but you can't make accusations against me that are unbased. I don't like some hot-shot Council member, staff, Master, whatever, swooping in here and calling me something I'm not, and just wielding their power like a club. I can list the offenses of Council members, JATs, and Masters. I wouldn't have to try so hard. But go against the council like I have? Wow. That is far more worse than the sum of all the transgressions the Council has done. So you call me what you like. Call me what you think. I'll can call you fascist. I'll can call you a "repressive regime." So what if YOU aren't? You don't care if what I'm referred to is a lie, so why should I care if this new title of the Fascist Council is a lie? Good luck fixing it. I trust you'll do just the same poor job as everything else. But I've better things to do. Like prep my research for the UN. Oh, that's right I forgot. According to you guys I'm an idiot who doesn't know anything. I'd represent you guys at the UN, but such idiocy is frowned upon. Actually, I'll represent the good students. I'm closing this thread. It's just becoming a pissing match between a small number of people, and it keeps getting worse. If you all feel you have something constructive to add to the public discourse then feel free to make a new thread, but otherwise... Ulic, JACs, we've all made our points, we all disagree, and we've all gotten way too angry, upset, offended, and personal about all of this. We're all wrong in some ways, and we're all right in some ways. Ulic, I'm sorry you were offended. You can take that as an olive branch from a council member or you can take that as a weak attempt to smooth things over. I hope you take it the first way. But things have gotten so far out of hand that it's now just childish, petty bickering from BOTH SIDES. We JACs haven't been angels in this argument, but so far I see neither side as extremely willing to bow down to the other sides wishes. If you have anything else to say on the matter please direct it to the respective inbox of whoever you'd like to say it to (and I'm talking to everyone here), but beyond that please, we've all made points and all of the points have been taken into consideration. Now lets move on and try to have a small amount of peace. (Note to Ulic, I can see your first objection coming, that I'm trying to sweep this under the rug. I'm not at all, I just don't see the point in everyone continuing to badmouth each other. Hmm, where'd that close-thread button go again? I wont waste your time writing anything long Ulic, but if your original thread posting was really so tongue-in-cheek and non-offensive, then you shouldn't be so offended by it being closed. Lots of people have turned the other cheek to forum post closings, but you find it neccisary to create a large scene voicing your opinions, pointing fingers at EVERYONE else, and yet never even pausing for 1 moment to consider all the junk that you have done and your piss-poor attitude that you KNOW you have had for months on end, never letting ANYONE in the upper ranks help you or convince you of anything but your own personal righteousness, which you blatently show off in this thread posting, as well as the other incidents I have been involved with you on, and of course, your inability to admit when you are even out of line. Have fun at the UN, its a shame you had to turn out like you did. I remember back when you were much more 'chill' in the beginning. Then something happened, dunno but you changed for the worse, and took it out on people that you didn't need to. You have personally offended me, on several occasions. I remember several incidents of talking to you directly on the servers about your actions, and you failed to even give me the credit of acting rationally or talking properly to me, as your old friend. So I don't feel the need to apologize or take anything back that I have done, or said. I stand behind my last post, and there is nothing else to say about it from me. Enjoy your stay at the UN. I hope your future endeavors learn you well, and you don't step on the wrong toes at the UN. Because rather than a simple thread-closing, you are liable to get much more severe consequences for breaking rules and being obscene and out of line. I hope you have learned from your experiences here, and will at least consider yourself being wrong, since I'm yet to ever hear an apology for any incident you have ever been involved with here at the JA that I have personally witnessed, or had to deal with second-hand. As for your funny usage of Dictionary terms, this isn't a public forums section. This is a private one. If you look to: http://www.itts.ttu.edu/documentation/laws/lpc4.html and read about the Internet laws on public and private forums, and what constitutes which, you will find that a website, that you must sign up for, and has a screening process, and has MODERATED forums, (which is exactly what I was doing) are private, not public, and fall under general rules that the private institution decides. Furthermore, if you don't like the ideas and the way things are run around here, no one is forcing you to stay. I'm sure we will see many many more posts from you before your attempted leave of absence on Sunday, and after that point, I have a sixth-sense that there will be more posts popping up for the rest of eternity. Especially since the post you made was CLEARLY tongue-in-cheek and was a joke, and simply nothing more. And you have the inability to just accept the truths and current situations in your life, and rather piss and moan about them, making irrational statement and prejudices, thereby completely negating all the comments you say that 'the council' is doing. I think that would be called hypocrisy, but you can double-check me on that if you'd like. I'm only writing as a matter of opinion, and it does NOT necessarily reflect the views of this community, the council, or the person typing this comment. It is only the opinion of Huxley. So far, I can see both ways. I don't know exactly what Ulic said, but from the reaction, I'm taking it to have been pretty serious. From the nature of what others said, the comment was not funny and was most definitely posted in the wrong forum. As for sucking up to become Knight: I guess I would know all about that. I'd just like to say three things: Firstly... What some people call sucking up, others call being nice. "Oh Bob just favors you because you suck up to him" is _usually_ another way of saying "Bob is nice to you because you're nice to him" and is the sort of statement generally uttered by someone who is _not_ nice to Bob. Some will say that it's solely a matter of opinion whether a person is just being nice or sucking up, but I don't think so. There is such a thing as being insincerely nice in an effort to curry favor, and that's dishonorable and worthy of the epithet "sucking up." But whether someone is engaging in that behavior is not a matter of opinion--it's objectively true that someone either does or doesn't badmouth me behind my back when he's nice to me when I'm around, and it's an accusation no one should make lightly. I'm not aware of anybody at the Academy doing that--even the people who are ocassionally ill-mannered are at least up-front about it. Secondly... It is possible for a minority or even an individual to be right when everyone else is wrong. However, in matters of getting along with people socially, if everyone thinks I'm being a jerk, 33 years of experience tell me that the answer is unlikely to be that there's something wrong with everybody else in the world except me. wow,........ bananas?!,.. ,..sry,.k,..in a serious way now,..i know that i have nothing to do with the prob. here,..with the exeption that im a student too,..but ,...i just found this post today ,.and read all the comments on it,..to understand the situation,...so,...to give my 'neutral and last minute informed' opinion(that i hope it help in some how,...),..what i know so far ,..its about the prob. between mr.Ulic and the JACs,...while reading the comments i kinda saw that the ppl (most of it,..i think..)understood Ulic situation(and enjoy bananas..),...the 1 to be false acused,..at least i did,...but i dont think about some 'evil' council stuff,...what i do think,...is in the mistake of a person (or ppl)on this,...but my real 'neutral' opinion is that we ALL know that ur not a racist or a sexist,..and i think ,..thats a big part of the isssue,..now,...the other part,..the apologize 1,...i think it fair too,..but as u said,...that u would like to be the kind of guy who represents students,.to be the 1 closer to them,...then,..u should care about what THEY say  ,...and as i said ,..i think ,..most of ur fellow partners here think that ur not a racist and ur not a sexist, and that was all some kind of miss-understoodment,..so,..to end my comment,...gl on ur UN stuff _______________ '...its better to light a candle, than cursing the dark,...' -> 0_< This comment was edited by eljeton on Jun 04 2003 12:50am. |

Ulic, Whispy has corrected her calling you racist into sexist which is correct. I read her post before even seeing your little libel suit threat and before she corrected it and knew she meant sexist. Its completely obvious to anyone thinking at the time of reading what she meant since all her references of it come from her being female. I think you're sexist as well so are you going to go and sue me as well? Also I am the one that said "Why don't you just start accepting KKK applications too." That was because of your slave thread. I know there are functions where there are slave for a day auctions as fundraisers and such. But I bet they don't make references to cotton fields at those locations. That's probably the reason people complained. Your tongue in cheek joke hit just too close to the line of offensiveness for some people, probably because of your cotton reference. Which is why I mentioned the idiotic KKK in my previous post here. I included right after that "It would just have been a joke right?" Did you understand the reasoning behind that? If you had included that you would have taken your joke just one step farther. I bet some people might have found it funny but they would have been the distinct minority and the people offended would have been the majority. Just one more word can be the difference between humor and offending. Once that happens you cross the line. Here's the problem though. Not every person's line is at the same distance. Those people that were offended had a line a little bit closer than others. Hux received their complaints, decided it was better to close the thread and let it fade to the bottom. He could have just deleted it or warned you too. I mean if the council is so against you why are you still here? Shouldn't they be looking for every little slip you make and be ready to warn and ban? Other people have gotten threads closed for far less Ulic. Just because it was a thread you made and it was closed doesn't mean that Hux needs to apologize to you for doing what he thought was the correct action to take at the time. All right, we'll chill. But just to close this up, my requests still stand as such, stemming from the libel thing. See below posts to get the fill jist of it. But here the expectations are again (which will be done in meetings, I understand) I also want to note that, just noting, I will be internet-deprived as of this coming Sunday. I would think that at least a couple items on the list (maybe apologies) could be settled before I leave for the UN. I'll expect no less than four things: (I'll edit point #4, for if the first 3 are done, reorganization might not be needed.) 1. Whispy's apology 2. Whispy's voluntary or involuntary removal from Council. 3. Hux's apology (which I think he's done, but he could be clearer) 4. Harsh examination and (edit: possible) reorganization of the Council. May I make a suggestion? Unless anyone has anything REALLY important to say, lets just let this topic rest. I'm not going to close it, but I do feel that all pertinent parties have made their points and exhausted their arguments. The JACs and JATs have a meeting coming up in 2 weeks (that's the soonest we can get everyone together) and before then we'll try to have a JAC meeting, but beyond that nothing will be "decided" in this thread, and by letting it die hopefully things can calm down a bit (without ignoring the dialogue we've had).
