Lately I've noticed a lot fewer applicants coming in then I'm used to seeing. I'm used to getting like a dozen or 2 a day, but now we get about 5. I know we're a little corner of the JK2 community. What do you guys and girls think is the best way to get this place known around there? If you like this place then tell your friends, but I'd prefer to avoid spamming forums, the Zone, etc. Post your thoughts!  _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

Well Cloak, you want more oldbies on the servers? You maybe dont know what you're asking for. Having played this game for over a year, and been with the academy almost all the time is just way long. The oldbies already did their part, it is YOUR job to keep the serfer alives now. Be happy we visit at least the forum  On the other hand about more JATs and JAKs, I completly agree. There are some things beeing discussed about more JATs/JAKs right now, but it will take some time. Patience. Well, I would like to do such a Recruitement tour... I agree with Jake, there are times where the game might not put a spark in your face,... but could it be b/c u just stick with 1 aspect of the game? We should play on pubs more BUT there are lotsa members that get on IRC and just chat and say "were a community now"(not trying to call ne1 out),& they don't get on the server and play/train. Remember this place was made for us to become better JK2 player/and to teach others to become better. There are lots of members that need help as we speak. If u really like the game, then there should be nothing better than watching a new student adapt your trainning and use it effectivly. All of us newer students are happy and proud to have a master and to get trainning. The past week or 3 i've only saw a few JAT,JAK & even oldbie players on the server, U guys gotta be the example for us. I would love to be a part of a recruiting staff if someone wants to get together and do this. It would be awesome to have more than 3 or 4 people doing it b/c it's pretty flattering when there is a group of us using our trainning effectively in demonstration for courting new members(i'm not saying go slaughter every1, but just prove our abilities in the name of the academy). I also like the idea of a master and his paddys particapating in this *cough-SS-cough*. Being that my master is awesome. I am on almost everyday btw 10:30 pm & 5:00 am GMT +0(thats 5:30pm-12am eastern standard time) and various times on the weekends. EDIT: I am not trying to step on anyones toes but there are also alot of inactive padawans now. I *think* that the JAT,JAK that have those inactive paddys should take on new ones who are more active. I know some very popular servers. I play on them a lot and lotta ppl know me there so i can ask if they wanna join and wear my tag so other ppl see it etc. |

i see this problem, too. what if JK3 has very different skill requirements ? i never said anything about brushing jk2 to the side. the game will continue to be popular for some time. what i mean though is that we shouldn't worry so much about recruiting for jk2 when we have a good, solid base of students for it. that way, when jk3 finally does come out, the JATs will be ready for because they will have had less classes to teach, and more time prepping for the transition into jk3. |

we have about 3600 members, and about 1500 active. We should focus more on quality than quantity, indeed. I'd still say playing on the public servers is the best way to spread the word  I have seen many people join the academy, just because they asked me about the JAS tag in public servers.Even if its fun to play on the academy servers, we shouldnt "isolate" ourselfs by owning playing on our own servers. Instead, it would be a good idea to get into a public server with a group of students, and behave with honour. That way, people will start to notice us themselfs. The idea is not to "get into a pub and own some noobies". Its to show how wonderfull the academy really is. |

well faded if the Academy suddenly turns to jk3, what about all us players who stay with jk2 or can't affort jk3 just yet. you gonna just turf us out and forget?? I know it's going to be hard for the transition, and many ideas which will and won't work. perhaps a sistersite leading off this for the jk3 players and perhaps someone could introduce one server for it when it arrives, but this academy was built for the game jk2, you can't just brush it off for the next. I intend to stick around here for as long as this survives and i still have a connection. Concerning public servers and advitising. I make it my duty to visit an australian server and drag along a few academy students. hehehe..my 450 ping turns into a 200 ping and everyone elses 200 ping turns into 450ping. hehe, and it really shows that my training pays off. I do this once a week. If you want to join in, seek me out. and trying pinging the server at 203.13.37.56:28080 . ususaly there isn't much people there. but when a few people get on and play. others filter in. from one time 2 academy members and I went in by ourselves. 20 mins later we nearly had a full server. and yet i was the only one with my JAS tag. comon don't be shy. if you want to join in, ping the server and catch me online. plus don't winge if you ping about 500. so what. I had faded_angel in there with 600 ping and even Flash with a 800 ping, and they were both doing well. _______________ .Lag Bro to Xanatos. Adopted Twin to Bubu. its qaulity not quantity (although lots of nice things is better than only a few nice things I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again, people are too enclosed within the academy and don't play on publics often enough to get the vibe of the community or down there in the 'nitty gritty'. I think going to clan servers would not be a good idea, as most people there will already be in clans and think they are the muttz nutz, the dogs danglies and the hounds hampton. But public FFA's such as Jolt, Blueyonder, Games domain, Barrysworld are all full of lesser skilled players (n00bs to put it bluntly) who are ripe for the plucking, every other thing they say being "can I join a clan ?". I second the idea that we should hang out on the public servers more often. Here's an idea: You know how you have some days when you just can't win a duel and others where it seems like you walk on water? If you're having a really good day, really "in the zone" and mopping the floor with all the students at the Academy, hop out to a public server and mop the floor with some people there. And wear your tag! I also like the idea of getting more links to the Academy site. One other thought: Is the quality of the Academy really dependent on the rate of new member applications? My alma mater, Wittenberg University, had about 600 graduating students the year I graduated, but a hundred years before it had something like six graduating students and was arguably a better school then. _______________ My signature is only one line. Um, I think it's not simply the advertising but the game itself. JK2 dies and waits for JK3 A method to become more popular is maybe to ocntact big sites like PCgamemodes.com or jk2files.com and ask them about a news post or something. Another opportunity might be to do some "recruitement trips" on big publics like jolt.uk I would love to lead such a trip Having 5 guys with their proper JA-tags and just telling the guys at the server about us. we wouldnt need to be too agressive there, just tell them who we are, what we do and what they gotta do for signup. hm, Jake, that was a typo... I wanted to type [JA?] be it JAS, JAK, JAP, JAA... either of them... and if I meet ppl that are from the JA they usually do not wear their tag. I always wear my tag - and ppl have asked me after it - and I thought - I hang out little on publics - but I know most of the clans that barely have 50 members - and we are over on thousand (!) and ppl dont know us !?
