Here is where I found the terrain system http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/data/gamehomepages/game_homepage_id.php(que)id=5509 Forceful new info on the Xbox and PC follow-up to Raven Software's Star Wars shooter, Jedi Outcast 16:27 Out of the blue, Raven Software has revealed some new details on Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the developer's follow-up to Jedi Outcast. What's prompted this outburst is unknown, but rumours that a fan has been influencing Raven with the power of the Jedi mind trick are so far unfounded. Would be good if that turned out to be true, though. Anyway, new Jedi Academy details that have emerged focus mainly on stuff that Raven is doing on the graphics/visual front. Top of the list has to be the implementation of a ragdoll skeletal system, meaning that we can expect in-game character models to react realistically to blows and collisions with scenery. While specifics haven't been discussed, a ragdoll system in theory would make lightsaber duels incredible. Imagine, not just being able to block lightsaber attacks, but being able to smack aside your opponent's lightsaber, opening up their defences for the kill. Force powers such as Push, when used on other characters, would also look fantastic. First-person combat would, of course, take on a new angle as well, players potentially able to hit enemies in the side and spin them around, shoot their legs out from under them and watch them hit the dirt face-first and such. This, coupled with Raven's per-pixel hit Ghoul II technology, should make combat most impressive. As well as Ghoul II, Raven is also using something called the Ghoul infinite Model modification system in Jedi Academy, technology that will further enhance character models. Additionally, its own ARIOCHE terrain system will be used along with the ICARUS II scripting system in both singleplayer and multiplayer. Multiplayer levels can now feature scripted events. Jedi Academy is certainly shaping up to be a far more impressive title than Jedi Outcast, Raven pulling out all the stops to improve substantially on the previous Star Wars shooter. The follow-up will most certainly be one of Activision's/LucasArts' big games at E3, so we'll be bringing you more next month. Stay tuned.
