Ok..I'm curious. How much have you all progressed since you first logged onto the internet to play jk2 the first time ever..
how bad were you? was anyone you met helpful? what was your first good experience in the only world of jk2.

I remember mine, After floating through a few servers and getting totally whiped out many a time, I stumbled upon a clan server where they were still building a map. hehe..they had only one spawn point and it was hillarious at how many people died as soon as they spawned. hehe. it was the first ever server where I started getting a good amount of kills. I havn't heard from them in ages. It was the JC clan. and they actually built their own server and client side mod. the aimod. I was impressed.. I even asked a few to show me some things and they teleported me away from all the killing and tried teaching me the basic moves and combo's. heh..and boy did I suck big time. I couldn't DFA let along do combos. and from there well. anyone that knows me on the servers can testify that I know what I'm doing. even though they might not :P:P

so..share your moment with everyone.

I took a while, first thing I did was join the Academy, where I stayed on the forums for months before going on to the servers. Unlike you guys, I really had no one to help me, half a year later, here I am, very much improved in every way, though that's not saying much.

I've improved WAY since i first started.
In the first place my lag, cause when i first played JKII online i still had a 56K modem.
I was playing CTF and i always wondered how they did that weird move (RDFA, but didnt know it at the time) so i asked someone there and he taught me the move. I knew the basics when i joined the JA from my clan like the dfa's,lunge, backstabs etc. But i learned the most here at the JA.

I have had jk2 since august, but I didnt join the JA till december. I was a total noob between this period. I couldnt even do a front kick or dfas at this time. I didnt even what a combo was. Than I heard about about the JA. I signed up for a few classes. I got better little by little. I than got promoted to learner. Took some more classes. Got even better. Right about the time I was ready for my journeyman trial the rankings disappeared (It made the JA much better when the rankings were gone). Since than I have improved little by little. Than eventually DB took me as one of his paddys. He is the main reason I very good at using guns especially the disruptor. Since the old days I have also made many new friends. I thank everyone who has ever taught me or has made me laugh at their jokes.

When I 1st got the game, I played the SP mostly. Then I tried to get some of my buddies from my old job to buy it and play(we used to play Quake2 and SoF after the boss left for the day), but they're not really Star Wars Fans. So I just figured b4 I hit any servers, I'd practice w/the bots. At that point, I'd just keep my sabre-styly on blue and just move around and hit the attack button a lot, and they still kicked my butt!!! Even when they were on Padawan level. Then somehow I found the JA, and good ol' arcuss showed me the DFAs, wall-walking, etc. and when he became a knight, took me as his Padawan. In those few weeks, I had improved A LOT!!! I still was pretty bad(and still am), but I could at least take it to the bots on Jedi Master level.

That's the story of my n00b-dom!!!

Eh, im too lazy to explain the whole story, but ill do it anyway

When I first got this game, I just went from server to server getting pwned. THen the duel of the fates (ffa_episode1) map came out. One of the jolt.co.uk servers happened to have it playing, so I went there. That became a pretty popular server, and I met a few friends there. Namely Shadow Sith, Eclipse, Trad Redav, and Corran. Funny thing is, we were all in the same clan at one time. Then I joined a clan called -ReK-, a bunch of potheads from the Netherlands lol. Anyway, then i quit jk2 for a while and started to play MOHAA with a clan that was #1 on the OGL realism ladders for about a month. Then I came back to jk2, but the server that i played the DOTF map on was dead. So I emailed Trad, and he told me about the JA, and I joined in December (December 15 i think). And then Trad was sucked into the evil powers of SWG, never to be seen again. Well thats my story :)

Well, it ALL started way back last May at Celebration II (Star Wars Convention) when I came across this game on LAN. The graphics were amazing, and I PWNED!!!(Mune? pwn? Nooooo) I got to 50 with everyone at 5, except my friend who was somewhere in the 40's. And, so, eventually, I bought it. Logged on, looked at "Darkside Deuls 1". I thought, "well, gotta start somewhere..." So I logged on. I was in spec floating around looking at the dueling map and these two guys go at it. I lossed and lossed and lossed and lossed. "Wow! This place is pretty cool!" That was my main hang-out before I came here. And, now that I've gone back, I realize; Most of the people there are using stuff like binded moves or yawspeed. None of it's real skill at all.
But anyway, not much has changed since that first day. I still lose, and lose, and lose, but this part's different: and win. So, I still don't have much going for me, but it's still a bit fun! And I've learned one huge helper: counters are your friend.

And the first game I ever played multiplayer was a game of CTF at Chicka's house.

Well,

I first started playing on the zone, and you know how most people say zone=for noobs. So I would go in and out of different servers for about 2 months. I didn't even know how to do any of the DFA's. There was this one server I would play on called Ground Zero(on the zone)and I think they are in JK2based list now. Anyway, I would play on the Ground Server server, and those admins were horrible, if you would beat one of them, they would abuse you with slap and change your name. It was pretty sad.:P Finally, one day I met someone from a clan called RTC and, he taught me DFA's, combo's, and some movement.

Boy I skipped alot of things that also happened, but that would take up too much time. :D

Ah the n00b days.... Well, I had a bit of an advantage over most because I was an avid player of Jedi Knight 1. So I had long understood the basic saber tacits and importance of strafing in combat. So, when I first saw Jedi Knight 2 at a LAN party and got a copy by the next one I was the best of the servers. Of course, by the third party there were people who discovered how to use pull, kick, and red over head to kill you real quick but I remained #1 by 20 frags at all times. Then I finally decided to play online. It was 56k so that made it hard, but I also realised people where doing things I didn't understand. What was this flying lunge? How were they ducking and lunging? I was on... I think it was the Jediknightii.net publuc server and they were runing the deathstar map when ::DEC::Garlic::SC:: (I think that was it) pulled me aside in the throne room. There he taught me proper kicking, and dfa. I spent the rest of the night with him teaching other n00bs and we fought to keep the room safe for them to practise in. That night I also fought and beat their clan leader (with my newly aquired skills) and so I was inducted into their clan. Unforcunatly their clan seemed to disappear within a week or two and I never saw any of my good friends again. It was only a little while after that while searching for info on Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy, I came about here. I was disappointed for a day or two while my app was processed but I talked to DJ on mirc and he quickly handled it. My time at the Academy has been lots of fun (especially on my new cable connection) and I was very happy when a few people brought my aside to teach me blocking and a little more about ydfa. Thank you all for making me the almost but not yet leet player I am.

{Edit:}Oh, thanks to Bandit for teaching me proper kicking style. Also to anyone else who taught me and I forgot your names.

acey, JC!!! was it like [JC] ? can you tell me any names ? that was my main clan, please tell me this is the right one :D

now, I played since day of release and I still reckon I learned more in my first week of playing than I have all the time I've been playing since. I was a Jedi Knight veteran so JKII seemed to fit with me, and I already knew how to play. I was quickly a GREAT player. Unfortunately nothing stays that way, time passed and everyone catches up :D

Oh the n00b days... that was not so long ago :)

Well my story begin 6 - 7 months ago when I finished the SP of JK2 and said: "Man that game was so good... it's gotta be amazing in MP!"... so I went in search of a good server to play and wandered on public server for a while... But one night I found the RJ Clan server... I knew I sucked bad, but on other server I could get a few kills... but on this one, the clan guys were so good I decided to stick around and the learn the "ropes"...:) I spent one month going there as much as I could... but, again, one day, I knew I needed something else to get better... I was getting owned so much, I knew something was missing... and then I stumbled on the JA... joined and I will always remember how I was greeted by Dani and NightCrawler... they were so helpful, and they even offred me a tour of the Academy (v3 back then :))... so I hanged around, took classes, got better and then when I thought I was ready, I returned to the RJ clan server to show off my new skills...:)

When I first started playing more than a year ago, I was an uber n00b. I went to one server, jolt 2 I think, which had episode1 map, the best days ever were spent there. I joined the ST clan, rofl. All we did was pull back slash, or kick back slash, I'm ashamed of my n00bness back then lol. I also learned how to float down from the top cat walk all the way to the bottom, that r0x0red. Anyways, once ST fell apart I continued playing there until then end of the summer when all went wrong while I was away on vacation. The server changed and everything. So I started going to different servers until eclipse found and brought me to the JA. But while I was going to the different servers I became better and better by watching people and learning from their styles. I made the biggest improvement in the JA because I went to classes where I could learn some things that could help me. Where I learned and grew up as a jedi pupil :)

Ah yes, the n00b days. I remember those. So, when I first joined the JA, I had no skill whatsoever. I didn't know how to strafe left or right, so whenever I dueled, I just spammed forward attack (in yellow stance). The first day I joined however I didn't duel anyone. It was like I wasn't even there. No one spoke to me, and I just stood in the Matrix, not doing anything. The second day was the first time I actually dueled, and most of the people that saw me fight thought I was pretty pathetic. But one of them wanted to help me. It was Arca (before he became JAK). He started by teaching me the special attacks. I got the lunge down easy (I had used it in Sp, and the RDFA didn't take long either. But the YDFA. Oh, the YDFA. That took me 25 minutes to master. But, Arca was patient. Actually, he was afk for 20 of those minutes, and gave me permission to practice on his body. Unfortunately, he had to leave right after that. (So, I wasn't any better at dueling, but I did spam the special attacks.:D The third day, I was standing in the matrix (again), and I watched someone fight. He was good, and he won almost all of his duels. Then, during a break in the duels, I watched him do some fancy looking combos. That person was Chainer. I had no clue how to do those, so I asked him. And he said: Get the f*ck away from me you stupid n00b. Actually, he brought me to a different room, and spent alot of time teaching me combos which improved my dueling alot. Ever since then, I have been real helpful to new people that I see on the servers. So, after being taught by Chainer, I watched these two people repeatedly duel each other in the glass room. These two people were eljeton and p][ke. I finally got up the courage to duel one of them, and eljeton owned me (good job el:P). Then, I went back to the Matrix and dueled Chainer. I lost, so I came back and dueled him again. I won by switching to red stance. In my next duel, I fought a guy with a colorful name (forget who) and won by sticking to red. Then, I fought Darth Jell-O, and beat him too (haha Jello beaten by a n00b), once again using red. My last duel of the night, I fought Chainer and lost, but I had found out which stance I wanted to use: red. So, I was a heavy duelist for a long time, but I have since changed to yellow. Weeeeeee, this makes me think back to the good old days. But were they good? My opinion on some days doesn't mean they were good for everyone, does it? Well, before I go off topic I must thank Acey for making me all nostalgic, and I like thinking of some good times that happened way back then.:)

I started playing JK2 online after I got ADSL January 29th.

I sucked incredibly much, didn't know any specials so I spammed blue and tried to backstab all the enemies. Lol, that was times. Still didn't know anything (got kinda sick of the lame pub servers) when I joined here February 24th. :)

Ah, the newbism back then.... now I've gone from newbie to n00b. ;)

hmmm
I began playing the MP game with my neighbour on some mini-LANs..(that is, me moving my computer over to his place, or he over at my place) Anyways, the only thing we did was duelling or playing FFA with bots (!) (no wonder my neighbour got sick from the game :()
when I first got ADSL (march 03 or sth) I began playing on the internet, going from server to server.. I had found a site on the net explaining the RDFA and the lunge (tho I was not familiar with their names), so I had practised them a bit.
By coincidence I went to a clan server (HS) (not a big clan) which were accepting new folks atm. I saw how they accepted this other guy and how they were teaching him stuff and I was amazed. I joined and was assigned a master and was told to go to a web-site. That day I got to learn how to _rightfully_ do the DFAs.. But some days later, the site and their server went down for a long time, and I never saw the master I was assigned again.

At the same time as their server went down I stumbeled upon the Academy..(back then academy.jediknightii.net) I wasn't sure if it was a clan, so I kinda was in doubt what I should do. So before I signed up, I read all I could find here on the site (About us,Rules,FAQ) and found this thread on the faq: http://www.thejediacademy.net/faq_answer_page.php?f_id=5 so I thought it was safe enough to join.. And tada, here I am :D

Edit: right, I sucked and still suck at the game :D
