Ihonestly dont see wat's wrong wit Piracy, if the US Bans Piracy, wat are they gona do if we dl stuff from foreign countries. Plus, ppl can always burn CD's, c'mon, admit it, who would pay 50 buck for a game, wen u and a friends could both pay $25 and then burn the game, maybe it could be 4 frends, and u all pitch in $12.50, and burn the game. Honestley, i know i would.  ok, yeah, i know it's bad. but still. And another thing, Why should artists who sing songs, make millions of dollars, compared to a person who works neary 9 hrs a day, and gets only hundreds. and rappers, they smoke weed and do a bunch of shit, but they make probably 2 albums, and right there, they have about 50 million dollars, doesn't seem fair. oh well..that's just my opinion. _______________ 'He who walks with wise men shall become wise. I know that. I've been following the MMO scene since 1997, I know more about why MMO companies do certain things than 99% of the people in the JA. The reason I said MMOs and P2P games is because while there may not be any P2P games that aren't MMOs, there are MMOs that aren't P2P games. |

I am referring to people who NEVER buy games and only download warez versions. MMOs are the only guaranteed way that the company gets the money for the game they made. |

Rauc, pay for play games are mmorpgs. they are making it pay for play cause of the support cause of the people that work on patches and keep the servers up. they pay them money and that money comes from us. The warez has nothing to do with it. I know many people dl games not just betas but full because they want to see if the game is good or not. i buy games but let me tell u about a game i bought. the name is enter the matrix. i wasted about $50 on it. after one day i finished the game and the game totally sucked because it was too short. I think thats why people download games to see if they worth it or not. Also, how can a game be leaked from outside? _______________ ...... Funaz, if Ravensoft/Lucasarts didnt care that people were stealing their software, why would they care that a bugged beta had been leaked??? They DO care that a buggy game is doing the rounds, because it gives a poor impression to prospective PURCHASERS of the full game, and also because some ppl would play the beta and then not bother BUYING the finished product! These guys work their asses off to make the kind of software that communities like ours are built on. Often looooong nights away from families and loved ones etc. Now, I'm not claiming to be a saint with regards to copyrighted stuff, but I agree with what GHarris said about buying the finished product. If you love a game enough to dedicate so much time to it, to the point of joining an organisation like this one, or a clan or whatever, then the game developers have done a great job and deserve to get paid. If enough ppl thought your way about 'warez being part of life', then the 'warez' would soon dry up and we'd all have to get another hobby (God forbid, we might have to go OUTSIDE!!! *shudder*)  P.S. I'm not defending greedy, money grubbing scumbag organisations like the RIAA here, or the tactics they employ to try and stamp out piracy. Yes, there will always be a % of ppl that 'pirate' stuff, but I think if u can afford to buy a PC/Broadband connection etc, you can afford to spend $/euros 40 on a piece of software that gives you so many hrs of fun!! _______________ "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds" Bhagavad Gita & J. I downloaded the beta, and I have nothing to be ashamed of. I am buying the game when it comes out, so what the heck does it matter if I get hold of it now as well? I have very little to do at the moment, but by the time the final game is released the summer holiday will be over and I won't have much time to play it. That's the only reason I downloaded it. come on people, warez is part of life. I haven't paid for one game in over 7 years, including jk2. Same for music and movies. I think they're reasoning for going after people who downloaded it is pretty much a scare tactic. Since these people have gotten the game know where to get it from. You tell them to say where it came from and they'll be left alone. Then they'll go after the people who are really breaking the law.
