Ok Here's a post with some usefull links. I will keep updating this as needed. If you don't know about this site and you are a Windows User you need to know about this. This site will patch your os with any of the bugs in any Windows OS. http://www.windowsupdate.com A good piece of software to have. This will scan your computer for any kind of spyware that any freeware or shareware program that you download and install. http://www.lavasoftusa.com or you can try spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html *NOTE* Don't have both installed or they will say each other is spyware. I like spybot better. A good free anti-virus program.. If you don't have a anti-virus I recommend you do. http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php This site is good for information on ISP's(Internet Service Providers). It alos has a great little toolset for testing your internet connection and the forums are helpful for tweaking your pc to get the most out of your connection. http://www.broadbandreports.com Do you have windows XP or 2000 and a great video card? Seem to be stuck at about 60FPS, even though you say like com_maxfps 120? Simple fix http://www.ryanmh.com/files/reforce.zip is a fix for a Windows Bug that locks your frame rate at 60 fps when you can get higher. All you do is unzip that run it, click auto populate, hit Apply and reboot and boom FPS allover the place _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. Is there someway to get windows 2000 to emulate windows 98? I'm askin 'cause i have a game (OLD ) and its build for windows 98 when i had windows 98, it worked fine, now i dug up the game, and it wont work! I think its because of the OS change. I searched High and low for updates and pachtes for the game. Cheked out ALL the tech support, Nothing. THe game is called "Rock Raiders" its made by the "Lego Interactive" (Yeah i know, its a childish, 5-year-old kinda thing. But its mighty fun Edit: THanks in advance _______________ Quote: Fizz: Omg, one of aratans paddies Bro to: Jacen Aratan, D@RtHM@UL, Sednox And Bail *w00t* ! Lerp: Quasi-acronym for Linear Interpolation, used as a verb or noun for the operation. "Bresenham's algorithm lerps incrementally between the two endpoints of the line." Its also probably used in the BSP Tree generated for a level, to tell which node a player is in, or is about to be in for rendering pruposes. _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. I've run into it twice so far: once in the JKA source code: "[stuff] // to prevent client from lerping", and something about it in a description of the BSP format. _______________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

What's "lerp", or possibly "lerping"? What about "slerp"? You could also try the card in an alternate PCI slot. Though rare, ports do occassionally go bad. That or you might not have completely gotten the card into the slot. Or... you know.... 56k could just SUCK!!! I'm such a lucky boy... _______________ I must not fear . Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. Quote: HELP oh knowledgeable Orion! My modem got fried (or so I think it did). So I went out and bought the cheapest 56k PCI Internal Modem I could find. I asked the shop assistant if it was adequate, and he said it was. OK, so I got home and stuck the card in, installed the drivers, et al and connected. The modem dialed, etc and connected (which is much further than my previous modem got) and then it just stopped after sending like 300 bytes and recieving 1500. Nothing happens, nothing works - although it is still connected. Any ideas? Your problem is you bought the cheapest modem you could find. Send it back. Don't listen to the sales people. All they know is Grunt grunt. Scratch scratch. 56k is good. Your phone lines weren't built for 56k data connection. The best modem out there is one of the external serial based modems. Those things are solid as rocks. Its all hardware based. None of this software based PCI crap crap. You should pay at the very least $50 for a modem. Anything less is asking to get a bad connection, period. I'm not saying that you can't work at all with a cheap ass modem. Hey you can technically drive a car with 4 flat tires, right? If you decide to keep you modem there are a few things you can do to fix this. Lower your com port speed to 38400baud. It's probably somewhere around 128kbaud or something. Disable error correction. Make sure there's no conflict form you modem with another device. Delete and re-create your dialup networking connection. How to do all this is dependent on your OS. Call your ISP as well. They may have something fancy set on their modem that messes with yours. Tried the baud to no effect. I'll try the error control thing... Oh, BTW, I wanted to get something cheap as I've just spend a large amount of money (for me) on getting the PC actually working. Thanks for the advice, if it doesn't work I'll take it back and change it. _______________ Website |

Orion! I just wanted your opinion on this. I was reading PC World magazine, and I came across an article telling you about something you could install between your MB and processor that allows you to use a faster processor than your MB supports. They recommended it for P4 systems that came out in like 2001 or so (like mine). Dell's site says that my MB will support up to a 1.8Ghz, yet this place says they can boost it up to 2.6Ghz. Is this something you recommend? Here's the link to the site. I posted this here so others could benefit from this info. Thanx man! I promise I won't play Hacky Sack with your head on IRC anymore. _______________ Midbie Council Member #2 - Profile ID 2073 | Member of B@rtM@ulS@ar | Owner of Monty's 2000th comment & D@RtHM@UL's 8100th comment | Former Padawan of SilkMonkey & Arcuss JA Goaltender & NHL Fan | Fellow Rush fan to Axion|Plo Koon is my oldest JA friend Post your RL pics HERE! | Post you JK2/JK3 screenies HERE! |

/me throws a brick with cVar written on it at chosen one.. thats what a cVar is Cvars are registered variables, which gives the ability to Game/mod creators to allow the public to change current settings to almost anything. However, the mod creators needs to create each cvar and where to place them. For example in the JAR mod there is the cVar g_mEnforceDuel, This cVar if Set to a value of 1, will allow for as many Private duels as you want on a server. If it is set to 0, it will be like basejk, only one private duel at a time. _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. That's caused by the "pure server" option being set on the server. It runs an MD5 of it's pk3 files (it generates a number based on the file size of the pk3 files) and runs an MD3 of your matching pk3 files. If the MD5's dont's match the server thinks you're using a hacked pk3 and kicks you out. Why does it do this after getting disconnected? Beats me. Maybe it writes somethign to the pk3 on the fly... _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |
