I will try to respond to your problems and questions as soon as possble. Sorry I cannot answer any Mac question I haven't touched a Mac in years.. Ok Here's a post with some usefull links. I will keep updating this as needed. If you don't know about this site and you are a Windows User you need to know about this. This site will patch your os with any of the bugs in any Windows OS. http://www.windowsupdate.com A good piece of software to have. This will scan your computer for any kind of spyware that any freeware or shareware program that you download and install. http://www.lavasoftusa.com or you can try spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html *NOTE* Don't have both installed or they will say each other is spyware. I like spybot better. A good free anti-virus program.. If you don't have a anti-virus I recommend you do. http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php This site is good for information on ISP's(Internet Service Providers). It alos has a great little toolset for testing your internet connection and the forums are helpful for tweaking your pc to get the most out of your connection. http://www.broadbandreports.com Do you have windows XP or 2000 and a great video card? Seem to be stuck at about 60FPS, even though you say like com_maxfps 120? Simple fix http://www.ryanmh.com/files/reforce.zip is a fix for a Windows Bug that locks your frame rate at 60 fps when you can get higher. All you do is unzip that run it, click auto populate, hit Apply and reboot and boom FPS allover the place _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. Hey there Mighty Onion! Question for ya: My uncle was using his computer on Saturday, no problems. He went to boot it up on Sunday, and his computer doesn't boot all the way through. He brought it into the BestBuy where he bought it and when they hooked it up, it worked perfectly. When he hooked it up again at his house, same thing. He claims that his monitor doesn't get a signal and the numlock light doesn't light up on his kbd. He hasn't added anything to his system or added any other appliances to his house. Is it possible that a dying monitor could prevent a machine from booting up? I've never heard of that before. I haven't gone over there yet to see what I could do, but I figured I'd rather go there with some "ammo" to fix his problem. okay, I've got a weird problem My internet provider has this kind of service so you can see how much you've downloaded that day the numbers are huge while I'm not downloading anything Kazaa is closed down, and all I do on the internet is visit this site (and spam the forums  ) and drop by on IRC for a few hoursCould it be this site? Or maybe IRC? Or is there some program/virus that can cause this? okay I have another weird problem When I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, I notice that I have a program called Apropos, and it is never responding. When I close it, it reopens itsself, because if I wait about 2 minutes, and press CTRL+ALT+DELETE again, the program will be there again. I have that program to remove adware and stuff like that (see link above) and it recognizes Apropos.. But the program can't get it off the pc, since Windows is using it. So I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and close it, and then try to remove it with the spyware program. It still doesn't want to do it. What is Apropos? And how can I solve this? ya it should work just fine. assuming your motherboard is new enough to support it and you have enough slots also the pc runs faster the less slots of ram it has to read from. so if u jsut wanna get 2 512's it will make ur pc operate better, you might not notice it but it does _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. I'm planning on going into something to do with computers as a career, and I have to write a paper on it next semester, any ideas? Anyway, my problem. Sometimes when I exit out of the AIM buddy list window (just so it goes into the system tray) I get the blue screen of death and it says the problem has something to do with win32k.sys. A+ Certification - Nice little cert if you want to just study and get a job as a lower tech. Usually $50 for the test. I have an ebook on a CD from when I was thinking about taking the test (Its legit, don't worry y'all) if you're interested (and if I can find it, its been awhile). MCSE Certification - Higher up, more money. Nice if you want to become a higher up admin guy. Only problem is that this training gets real old real fast as Microsoft does whatever diddly they do. RHCE Certification - Red Hat's little thing. Very nice as a lot of servers are using Red Hat today (Although RedHat is messing with the way they do things and they've dropped support for some of their products lately). Now, if you want to uber, go for the CCNA. If the price is iffy, thats what student loans are for. CCNA's tend to be the ones that pay off. If you want to get even more rediculous than that, then take some assembler/C++/kernel coding courses and go for a coder/linux sysadmin position. Companies tend to pay a lot of money for someone who can write custom kernel patches for them. |
