Ok Here's a post with some usefull links. I will keep updating this as needed.

If you don't know about this site and you are a Windows User you need to know about this. This site will patch your os with any of the bugs in any Windows OS.
http://www.windowsupdate.com

A good piece of software to have. This will scan your computer for any kind of spyware that any freeware or shareware program that you download and install.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com or you can try spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
*NOTE* Don't have both installed or they will say each other is spyware. I like spybot better.

A good free anti-virus program.. If you don't have a anti-virus I recommend you do.
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

This site is good for information on ISP's(Internet Service Providers). It alos has a great little toolset for testing your internet connection and the forums are helpful for tweaking your pc to get the most out of your connection.
http://www.broadbandreports.com

Do you have windows XP or 2000 and a great video card? Seem to be stuck at about 60FPS, even though you say like com_maxfps 120? Simple fix http://www.ryanmh.com/files/reforce.zip is a fix for a Windows Bug that locks your frame rate at 60 fps when you can get higher. All you do is unzip that run it, click auto populate, hit Apply and reboot and boom FPS allover the place :)

Doppel: First If you plan to get a brand new AMD mobo and Duron CPU, your gonna need new RAM, since with the ram you have right now the motherboard slots wont take it, but if you get an older, around the 1ghz mark you will be fine. and to the other thing your gonna have to get a small hdd to back everthing up. Windows can get really bitchy and complain and moan when you install a new motherboard and try to boot the OS.

Rei and Wolfwood: Try either getting newer network card drivers, or reinstall your current ones, sounds like a problem with your TCP/IP Drivers. but if none of that works.. might have to reinstall to fix that.

er...

Doppleganger, I don't THINK you have to reformat. I changed out motherboards/processors less than a month ago. You just need to reinstall Windows. Just make sure you have everything backed up, including all the stuff in....

MY DOCUMENTS
MY MUSIC
etc....

If you move stuff to a folder called C:Backup, it shouldn't be harmed. Everything else should be there, like the JK:JA save files, it's just that you have to install the actual program again. You settings and save games should still be there. It's like that with all proggies. You'l just have to reinstall things like you games/apps, Microsoft Word, etc. Bu datawise, all the files are there, just that your registry/windows forgot that you have them installed, since you made a new one.

Well, I gotta go. Later. This is just what I did, and it worked. But make sure you make a CD with all the updated drivers. It does get tricky to do it without reformatting the whole hard drive, but it can be done.

Dopleganger: Time to format. :(

Sory but you need a cleared HD and to reinstall the OS to run it in a different computer. Also gotta set up the BIOS and such.

Buy another HD and you can save yourself the trouble. Just pop in the new HD and install an OS on it. Update the BIOS and then pop in the old HD. Then you can access the old HD without a reinstall. But you do have to buy the new HD. Go to a computer store or buy online a 10 gb HD for like $25

Xip:

I've reconfigured my computer, reformatted, or reinstalled Windows countless times. The drivers are what you should need for your computer, so I'd suggest just uninstalling the driver for the CD-RW. Just do this in device manager. Then, reset. Windows XP should have the drivers loaded, so you'll boot up, it will say "new hardware found", and hopefully add the right one for you. In addition, you can get a driver off of the internet, and see if that one is an update.

But that's what has worked for me. Just uninstall it, and let the Windows auto-install put it back in for you. Unless, of course, WINDOWS puts it back on as a CD-RW. Then, I know how to fix it, but not really how to describe the process. You can try that, or wait for Orion to post a response.

I have an old PC (PII350) and I was going to upgrade to an AMD motherboard with Duron processor and just reuse the memory and what not. My question though is aside from just snapping the parts in their place is there anything I'd have to do with my hard drive that I have now? I don't want to loose anything on the hard drive that I have because it has my wives school work on it and I wanted to just give it to her to use just for that. We've made back ups of everything important but that would take allot of time to find and upload so I'd like just not to have that hassle. Thanx!

My CD-RW is no longer recognized as such by windows. As well as it no longer autoplays when I insert a CD. It indicates that I have a CD-ROM and to access a CD I must right click on it in explorer, double clicking only tells me that I must insert a CD. It began doing this when I installed Alcohol 120% and Daemon tools. Well, I uninstalled both and the stupid thing still tells me that I have a CD-ROM not a CD-RW. I've searched all of the onboard help files and can't seem to find a solution and I don't have the installation disk for the hardware. It came preinstalled. I have a sinking feeling that this is a super easy fix but I can't seem to find it. Should I just uninstall it and get the drivers from the website? I haven't done this because I don't know if all of the correct files will be included or just the updates. Any help will appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Almost forgot to tell you I have Windows XP with all available updates:alliance:

Fate: first off, you kinda need the character map for this. First, look up the keystrokes for the characters that you will use frequently (for example, the ç is keystroke Alt+0231)

To type it in, hold the alt key, then type in the number in the numpad (numbers above the letters dont work for this).

Hope this helps!

In responce to the below:
Yeah, seems to be a bug present in JK 2&3 that makes it somewhat incompatible with the NT based OS's. Not much you can do about it except /reconnect

I used to have this problem a lot myself but it just went away. :)

Hey Orion. I'm having some weird trouble with JK2, but I think it's more related to my PC. I'm running Windows 2000. All of a sudden, whenever I'm in a multiplayer game, I get the server disconnected message and my lagometer goes green...however I can still send and receive chat messages. If I try to go to spec mode, I'm ok for a few seconds and then it goes green again...but my ping is still around 70. If I type /status I get "The server is not connected" yet I can still surf the internet.

I've tried reinstalling. Reinstalling JA mod, cleaning up the folder, everything...

any ideas?

Hello again Orion. I took your advice to upgrade my computer and installed 512 MB of RAM and a Radeon 9200 128 MB card and JK:JA runs and looks amazing. On to my current problem.
