Ok Here's a post with some usefull links. I will keep updating this as needed. If you don't know about this site and you are a Windows User you need to know about this. This site will patch your os with any of the bugs in any Windows OS. http://www.windowsupdate.com A good piece of software to have. This will scan your computer for any kind of spyware that any freeware or shareware program that you download and install. http://www.lavasoftusa.com or you can try spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html *NOTE* Don't have both installed or they will say each other is spyware. I like spybot better. A good free anti-virus program.. If you don't have a anti-virus I recommend you do. http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php This site is good for information on ISP's(Internet Service Providers). It alos has a great little toolset for testing your internet connection and the forums are helpful for tweaking your pc to get the most out of your connection. http://www.broadbandreports.com Do you have windows XP or 2000 and a great video card? Seem to be stuck at about 60FPS, even though you say like com_maxfps 120? Simple fix http://www.ryanmh.com/files/reforce.zip is a fix for a Windows Bug that locks your frame rate at 60 fps when you can get higher. All you do is unzip that run it, click auto populate, hit Apply and reboot and boom FPS allover the place _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. I got a question for ya: The last couple of times I reinstalled Windows, there was always one "unknown device" in device manager. I tried reinstalling the driver for it with different driver CDs to no avail and I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. My system works fine otherwise, so I just always left it and had no problems. Is there a way to figure out what exactly it is? I'm planning on reinstalling Win again probably next week sometime and would like to take care of it b4 then. Thanx Orion, you rule!!! edit: Rei, I just bought a Radeon 9200 for $100(don't know how many Euros that is) and I'm really happy with it. TY for the help BUt omg I looked at the prizes, an ATI radeon is like omg omg omg 300 euros (290 dollar or something) and that Geforce is on the internet for 350 dollar but I can get it for 140 dollar. Is the difference in quality very very big or is it just small? |

ok done with the game and im bored so time to answer a lot of questions. First: Ryder: Have you changed anything right before this started happening? If not you could have either a virus or some sort of spyware, to get rid of spywear get this program, http://www.lavasoftusa.com. If you dont have a Anti-Virus i highly recommend you get one, heres a good free one. If its none of those it could be a problem in Windows somewhere that could either A) be fixed. or B) Require a format of the pc and reinstall of the os, ie lose everything and start over. Rei: The Nvidia cards are good and so are ATI cards. Right now if you want a really good card, as much as it hurts to say ATI is the best right now.. The GF FX Cards are dissapointing. I am not very happy with Nvidia at the moment. I believe they have shot themselves in the foot, but anyway. A ATI Raedon 9600 or 9700 is the better quality equevilant of the nvidia 5600, can't remember which card .Jedi Jenko: heh just re-read ur post. and umm you got a really old video card there. with that kind of card you probably have 2x AGP, if you have a AGP slot at all. i know those cards also came in PCI Form. Janus: You you shouldn't need to check your router. Apache most likely things port 80 is in use on your computer. Are you running IIS or the Microsoft personal web server? Check your porcess list and also run "netstat -an" in a command prompt to make sure port 80 is really in use. VB.net may have installed some dumb web server. If you wish you can always run Apache on another port and foward port 80 on the router to that port on your system. The outside world wouldn't know the difference. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

OK hey, i haven't been on JA.net 4 ages lol. anyway umm im runnin on XP and i have a problem with my gtaphics card, when i go to play Multiplayer (JK2) it says 'GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem' so i looked in the troubleshooting document and it said how to sort it out. so i tried it, i downloaded a driver for my Rage 128 card. I tried to install it but it said that the driver wasn't suitable for the adapter or something. Gives us a hand! I tried all the drivers and looked on the LucasArts website but no luck so far. Do you know alot about Apache HTTP Server for Windows? I've tried installing it and it gives error messages that port 80 is already in use. Checked my router and port 80 is listed for HTTP. What application uses it though I'm unsure. HTTP obviously stands for something web related, I have a feeling its Visual Basic.NET on my comp, but not exactly sure how to check it. After 6 months away I sit down to play JK2 multiplayer and lo and behold the damn thing won't start. I get a "recursive error after: user interface is version 7, expected version 6" message. When I try to start single player I get "bad parameter in external weapon data 'firing force' message. Orion not been here lately, but I'll ask something. My stupid father. He loves his GATOR program. I want it off his computer so I can stop fixing the errors every time I come home. Plus, It's not your fun program, either. So, if I can find a replacement, he'll use it, only.... He has all those passwords and stuff on Gator that he doesn't remember. Internet explorer won't work, which I couldn't careless about. Its the fact that anything that loads like it wont work. Eg. Msn. Gamespy front page. Anything that gets booted up with internet explorer, or that type, doesn't work. Ive no idea why. Been like it for awhile so I use Opera. But I want to use Msn 6, and gamespy. Any idea on what the problem could be? Changed setting? |

I'll toss in. You want to get the latest Avance Sound Manager. I have the same stuff on my motherboard too, but went with a Audigy later on. Search for the latest one, and you should be ready for the next step. So...once you have THAT installed, go to the little icons on the bottom right side, with the clock and stuff. Find a blue icon or so that says "sound effect". Click that, and you open a window that says AC97 Audio Configuration (or something similar). Go to Speaker Configuration, and select the 6 channel mode (5.1). Apply. then, go to speaker test. You should get them all. Else, Mr. Smartypants can help you out. He'll know better than I. Ok Mr. Smarty-pants. I have an issue that, if you're able to solve it, I will call you Mr. Smartypants without a trace of sarcasm. Here goes: I have an albatron KX400+ pro motherboard in my new computer. It has an onboard audio capabilities for surround sound. I bought the 5/1 surround whatever speakers. the first issue is this: the system only utilizes the 2 front-side speakers and the subwoofer. That's not too terrible, cause it's better than nothing. Anyway I know that it CAN use the center and rear speakers, cause the mobo disc had a software utility for testing/configing the surround sound n the machine as well as drivers (Avance AC97 audio, if it helps). Is there a way to get the rest of my system to use all 5 speakers and the sub? Secondly: Sometimes the audio device doesn't work. Just flat out refuses to start. It says in the device manager properties that the device refused to start (code 10) I dunno what that means, but I know it means trouble. I can clear it up by just deselecting+restart/reselecting+restart the "Do not map through this device" option (damned if I know why  ) BUT I know that it is not a problem limited to Windows XP. I can boot into Linux and it has the same issues; it just sometimes won't start.So that's that. If you can help: Wonderful! I love you! If not: BAH!! Damned vagrants always clogging up the streets! I think I figured out the problem...but I don't know how to solve it. Jedi Academy says I have the IP address that my router has given me: 10.0.0.4 But the ip-address of our network to the world is a different one. Ehm...I tried to run a server for JK:Ja..end the same thing went wrong as always with JK:JO. They are all LEGAL versions of the game...so no warez shit. When I create a server I have the IP of localhost. I am behind an ADSL router for 4 other computers here at home. Maybe JK:JA automaticly gets that IP address and ppl can't join me because of that. orion i see u bad ass popular man!!! anyway, i just installed an OLD game (df 1) to my PC which runs on WinXP (LOL @ ME for doin that)... i do the setup okay, but when it comes to Sound i got a little prob... My soundcard is by default ON the motherboard and not some seperate new sound card (what i mean that the sound card "holes" are where the mouse + keybrd holes are)... Anyway, i dunno what port to specify my sound card is, so the result is NO SOUND... Plus i can't find out what kinda sound card i got... i go to control panel | system | device manager but it won't fckin gimme sound card type... help??? BTW: this prob is not so urgent, but i would be glad if you could help... oh yeah! just remembered the word... my PC has native multimedia (is that the right expression?)... omg i got as good memory as... that big fat gray animal wit 2 horns...
