I'm guessing this topic will become like my Jar Jar one, but what is your opinion on the Saber combat in Multiplayer? Personally, it's more to my liking. I always thought the rolls in JO MP were too long and quick. what I'd like to see for dual sabers, is a system where mouse1 attacks with your left saber, mouse2 with your right. Clicking them at the same time makes you do a double attack (sorta like the attacks are now) I think this system would be kinda cool, since it would allow for a varied fighting style, as well as making it somewhat difficult to fight with. And why not take it further and make mouse1/2 horizontal attack/vertical attack for single saber? (soul calibur style) That way you could up the number of moves available as well as the difficulty of the sweetest combos. Alas, maybe in jk3... _______________ Second-in-command of the mighty FiZZsters This comment was edited by Silencio on Sep 25 2003 01:49am. |

I don't have a problem with being able to chain attacks infinitely, but it should take some skill. You should have to learn combos. That's what this game really lacks. For example, it should be possible chain a move--let's just call it move A--with one of a couple different moves, say B and C. If you do an A-B combo, then you should be able to chain D or E onto it, and so on. Every move should have a couple of moves that can be chained onto it, and someone who REALLY knows all the combos should be able to do combos forever. Also, the "alt-attack" button (usually right mouse button) should be for blocking, not throwing. Left-move + alt-attack=block left, and so on. There should be a combo for throwing. And the rules for chaining attacks should be different for attacks that get blocked. If I have a choice of chaining move B or C after move A, then if my A attack gets blocked I should still be able to chain a move onto it, but not the same move. That way you REALLY have to respond to what your opponent does, and you really have to learn all the moves. It would be cool if there were attack-block combos too. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |

I agree that this game has some issues that will be resolved. I also agree with luke going to have to learn a whole new strategy once the patches come out. I use double sabers and the damage is very wacked. Sometimes i woop on people 7 or 8 times and do 10 damage each time, and then ig et hit for 90 damage in one swing. But be patient and have fun with the game. I agree to some extent that how the stances interact with each other seems quite shameful. Yet I've seen other players block such moves as butterflies, stop katas as their in the middle of it, 1 hit kills take down 100 hp 100 shield, from single saber. I think you should just take the time now untill a patch to observe the gameplay, what you can do what you can't. There's always a way. _______________ JiM |

HW is of the Devil, Luke! Don't give into the temptation and actually do it. And yeah, I agree, the game needs a patch. I've never played it in my life, but according to most people, it seriously needs that update. Besides, I'm not gonna buy, *cough*steal*cough*, that game before a patch is out. Waste of money until then, imho. |

Yeah, the game is new, but you'd think Raven would have learned something from making so many patches for JK2... The blocking is a little random if you ask me. The damage I see done is as well, you could hit someone so many times in the torso and do like 12 damage a hit... (mostly with single saber I think) and other times it's like 50+ per hit. Duals and Staff should also be fixed in the damage areas... especially the butterfly, what the hell was Raven thinking? What the hell were their beta testers thinking? Another thing that should be fixed, in my own opinion of course, is the fact that duals and staff can chain attacks infinetely. Why in God's name is the single saber limited and the crap that does the stupidest damage can swing forever? Those will take time to fix, but in the meantime... I wouldn't get used to too much of the new style's mechanics... If your style revolved around unlimited swing staff spammage... and out of the blue they made the patch and limited it, what are you gonna do then? All the practice in that area will most likely have gone to waste... EDIT: Why I wrote something that long when I could be doing homework is a mystery to me... so I'll just end it here by saying... hmmmmm SMILY, KOYI, & YY RULE!!! _______________ Luke Skywalker This comment was edited by Luke Skywalker on Sep 24 2003 08:38pm. |

I love it. It's a huge step for those not familiar with the mods available for Jedi Outcast. Although I haven't played it enough online to notice any serious bugs yet, but I'm sure after a few days I'll draw up an opinion. |

<random crap> I like the single the most, then staff, then dual. You can actually stand still and survive a kata or dodge them fairly easily. I haven't really found an effective way to counter them yet though. That superpowerful barrier move can be countered with a roll stab right before it's over. The twirling windmill moves can be countered with a quick lunge to the back. Kicks should be easier to do, and do about 25 damage. Guns should stay EXACTLY the same. I love guns even more here. I'd like to see blocking be a bit better when moving as well. <random crap> _______________ Jedi Academy Holocron http://jaholocron.ryanmh.com/ Why should our government send our soldiers to foreign soil to protect freedom of speech, when our freedom of speech is being taking away everyday by the same government. I really feel single saber is f00ked and they took out the upleft move in the left upleft combo so I am sorta mad. I did a duel today and another thing found dissappointing is that I was BEHIND someone who was doing a staff kata but somehow I was still hit and died. _______________ What is the difference between love and Herpes? I don't think any of he poll options reflect my opinion. Parrying really blows. Someone gave me a little demo of how well parrying works while I was standing still, but if I budge even an inch I stop blocking. Lame. Also, sabre staff is to JK3 what Zerg was to the original release of StarCraft. It's mega-powerful and really easy to use without much practice, so EVERYBODY uses it. Dual sabre comes in a close second. Seriously, how many sabre staves were used in the movies? I recall exactly one. How many Jedi fought with two sabres at once? Again, I recall exactly one, and I bet he doesn't do it again in Episode III. I like the fact that these two styles are super powerful, but they should also be super difficult. The fact that they're super easy pretty much guarantees that they'll be the only styles anybody ever uses. _______________ My signature is only one line. You're welcome. |
