Well,

My Padawan made Knight, and I guess it was impressive. It was impromptu, so I missed it, was at work. But a great congratulations to him.

That being said, I have a vacancy for a Padawan. I have decided to take two. Damon Chessius is the first, and can bear the Belouve name if he wishes.

As for the second, I have a few in mind, but I will leave this post open for you to appeal to me. The goal here is to appeal to me, for a Belouve is not as much about HOW you fight, but who you are.

So, if interested, APPEAL to me. You don't know what might do it. It might be a well-constructed thought, it might be a dumb joke against the French.

(disclaimer: I am in Political Science, we make MANY jokes against the French. But really we like you. Or at least I do.)

Also, be prepared to wear the Belouve name. I may or may not make that a part of it. It's not a clan thing, or one of my ego things, its to remind you what you are doing this for, for whatever the Belouve name means to you.

So have at it. You can try to impress me in your skills in the servers, but appeal to me here or there. And good luck! Those of you that I have contacted already, leave your best shot here regardless.

Mistress, you sexist person you. I guess it's definition time again.

jour-ney-man: n, a worker who has learned a trade and works for another person (I don't see any reference to gender here)

man: n, a human being

Just teasing. You are part of mankind aren't you? So you are a man, only with a "Wo" added for that extra something special.

i could be wrong, but a jman has nothing to do with sex. for example, the Java Man. One of our ancestors. There were female Java Men, why is the Journeyman any different?

Sorry for not posting more guys. I have been busy with work and school lately, i hav e a fair bit more time on my hands now work has laid off for a while. Its sad to see i wasn't one in the finals, i would really haved loved this golden opportunity. Considering 4 j-men were chosen and i am a j-person considering i am female means i ma not one of the top 4 :( Good luck to those last people and congratulations to that who gets it, you must definately deserve such a priviledge.
*salutes*

Thank you for your time M'lord Belouve.

Damon Chessius just passed his Learner trial.

In doing so, he illustrated impressive dedication and skill. His training shown through, and impressed those doing the trial.

Afterwards, he decided to do a great presentation to honor his master, and changed his name to Damon C. Belouve.

I thank him for all of this.

I do not nearly expect such a thing from any of my Padawans. I do, however, know that those that I have considered will do well as a Padawan, regardless of how they honor me.

Do not feel you need to compete with this unique act, you are important to me regardless, even if I do not take you as a Padawan, I will still be proud of what you have done and will do.

With that, I raise my saber in salute to Damon C. Belouve, as well as Bubu, another Belouve, and to whoever may join this family soon.

I have settled on a list of 4 people.

Ha! You think I'd post it, huh?

But I will let you know that despite my thought to MAYBE not have a Journeyman as the second padawan, all four on my list are J-Men.

So, I will let you all who the new Padawan is once one of them accepts (it is in a ranked list too, so I'll ask #1, then so on.)

I promised that if none of them accept, I will torch the JA server and melt my precious in the fires of Mordor (oh, wait, that's LotR).

But, yeah, more to come later.

Hehe, those definitions were meant to make you Ulic, laugh as much as they were meant to make anyone else understand. I'm following in Arcuss' footsteps in failed attempts at humor. (J/K Arcuss, everyone knows you are funny.)

However, I retract all of that butt kissing if you are in fact still considering Journeymen. J/K.
I do think the journey from J-man to Knight will need more guidance than initiate to Journeyman.

I am not saying that I will NOT be taking a J-Man. Hmm...to clarify the multiple negatives there...

J-Man candidates are still in the running. Just that I let you in on a thought in case I did not choose a J-Man. Heh, Ioshee made it too quickly to J-Man, although he made it from Initiate to J-Man in the same amount of time as Bubu made it From J-Man to Knight. So I think the J-Man to Knight is a tough step. So I'll help out most any J-Man.

But...yeah..thanks for the definitions there, Ioshee. I was thinking the same, but I didn't want to come off as abrasive by "defining" it. I think people got the jist of it, but thanks anyways.

So Ulic, are you saying you will not be taking a Journeyman? :( for me, but I understand. And your idea about some J-man training sounds sweet.

Well since I’m out of the “race” I can say this without sounding like I’m \amkissing butt: I think it is cool to look for innovative ways to find a Padawan. It seems like your goal here is to have fun with it, and I think I get you when you say “appeal to me.” It is not a pride thing but a great way to get some character out of the people posting here. I think you have earned the right to ask for people to appeal to you by even being able to take a Padawan. Just be nice to Master Lew and don’t take it too personally. He means no harm I’m sure. I think people just feel so comfortable around here that they share their opinions whether they are welcome or not. That can be bad, but over all I’m glad we feel like that much of a family.

FYI
ap-peal: vb, to arouse a sympathetic response.

And just in case anyone is confusing sympathy with pity:

sym-pa-thy: n, a relationship between persons or things wherein whatever affects one similarly affects the other. (Great definition of the Master/Padawan relationship imho.)

Just to clarify, I WILL still look at people on the server. It's just that I place as much weight on how one carries themselves OUTSIDE of the servers (patience, humility, good posts, etc.)

Really, the "appeal to me" is sorta a prelude to my searching around the servers. It lets me know a bit more about a person, perhaps a different side of a person, before I go looking at them in the servers.

Also, it lets me know who is even INTERESTED. Then I don't look for someone who may not really be in search of a Master.

As for my thoughts thus far (a look at my selection process maybe), I am thinking that for J-Man people, I will merely hold some sort of my own private session for them, regardless of if they are my Padawan or not. From the J-Man people that have posted, I see where they have a lot they already know, but I would be happy to enhance their learning where they might want to learn more.

Also, I may have semi-classes, like an open Padawan training. It won't be fully open, just open to those who post here. That way, those that do not become my Padawan can still get some level of training. I'm still working on this.

I also have a bit more detail (as I've been asked by a few) as to the origins of the Belouve name. If any are interested, let me know, and I can either post it here, or send it directly to you.

I will also be making a thread, after I select my second Padawan, with some "Lessons". These will be my take on various things (like if some of you remember my writing on Patience, seemed legendary, I didn't think it was THAT good.) as well as excerpts from Jedi Lore. Those will be open to all, and would be a good place to start if you want to be next in line for a Padawan.

As for the "attacking me" thing, Lew, you came off as a "It would be better if you did it <this> way." It was a bit offensive to try and tell a Knight a better way to do something. I know I might not have shown this recently, but I would have used a bit more tact in suggesting a better method (and I was going to do that anyways, only after I narrow it down here.)

Well, you do intrigue me! I've herd so much about you in such a small amount of time. You have chosen a good man as your padawan. Damon Chessius and I spoke for a little while and he seemed to be a very patient and respectful person. I can only assume you should have the same traits. I should like to talk with you some time. I wasn't able to see any of your "controversial" posts before they were deleted. I can understand deleting them. People have their heads in the clouds these days. Unethical and prejudice rule them. They are stuck in there ways and do not wish to change. Doesn't mean they can't. We must be patient with them till they learn. If you seek a padawan still I would love to talk with you first and get to know you. Drop me a post and I'll meet with you whenever we can. Peace, Dop

Ulic, Ulic, Ulic…

Again you attack another’s comment. It seems that you think most people are attacking you or your way of doing things. I was not. I was giving you an alternate way of selecting a Padawan other than posting on the forums, (your choice, as inferred in my post). It was also to give you the perspective view from a potential Padawan’s position, (not me in particular, but someone). It was to honor both the Master and the Padawan.

Not everyone is out to get you. Read my other posts. Get to know my character. Watch how I act in classes or on the servers. I do not disrespect anyone. Do this for everyone you see or meet.

I’m a Master in Tae Kwon Do in real life. I know what honor is and how to respect all living beings. I know the privilege it is to instruct someone and the responsibility to do it wisely.

Even as a Master, I have much to learn.

Have fun in life. Make new friends. That’s why I’m here. Peace and Honor my friend.

well Ulic, in my eye, its amazingly hard to describe yourself in one post. People change. Im sure you are fully aware of that. Your padawan Bubu did do very well, and it is probably for the best. Unless i am mistaken, doesnt the jedi lore, or the jedi code, say that a master must choose their padawan? That they must watch them, get to know them and then decide and ask them (if they would like them to be their master)? Correct me if im wrong, but I thought that that was how it went. Of course, I could be delirious.
as for a lasting impression? there isn't truly anything that someone can say to completly impress you at your first meeting. You have to get to know them personally, and learn about their faults. Only that way can you truly teach them. For all I (we) know, someone here could say something, but do the complete opposite! I personally think that by posting on this, or any forum, something to impress someone enough to get them to become your personal teacher, is really difficult, and almost impossible. Why did I leave a comment here if thats my view? I guess i just wanted to say how i felt about this idea. Well thats all.

Edit: i just read the previous posts. Most of what i say in here has been stated earlier :s
