Well,

My Padawan made Knight, and I guess it was impressive. It was impromptu, so I missed it, was at work. But a great congratulations to him.

That being said, I have a vacancy for a Padawan. I have decided to take two. Damon Chessius is the first, and can bear the Belouve name if he wishes.

As for the second, I have a few in mind, but I will leave this post open for you to appeal to me. The goal here is to appeal to me, for a Belouve is not as much about HOW you fight, but who you are.

So, if interested, APPEAL to me. You don't know what might do it. It might be a well-constructed thought, it might be a dumb joke against the French.

(disclaimer: I am in Political Science, we make MANY jokes against the French. But really we like you. Or at least I do.)

Also, be prepared to wear the Belouve name. I may or may not make that a part of it. It's not a clan thing, or one of my ego things, its to remind you what you are doing this for, for whatever the Belouve name means to you.

So have at it. You can try to impress me in your skills in the servers, but appeal to me here or there. And good luck! Those of you that I have contacted already, leave your best shot here regardless.

I want to say I have been reluctant to take a master. I have only considered one other person, but you are now making me consider you as well. I do not mean to make this sound like I am arrogant and I will be selecting you. I’m just saying I do have respect for you. I also thought that I would never want to be someone’s Padawan if they already had one, but I have reconsidered that as well. Partly because I like Damon and partly because if you feel like you can handle it then it must be alright. Plus I think it was pride that was making me want to be someone’s only apprentice, and pride is something I am weeding out of my life little by little.

Ulic, you and I have not always seen eye to eye on things, due in part to my misunderstanding (and also the fact that you think you are never wrong. Heehee j/k.) We are different in a lot of ways, which could be just what we both need. When I become your Padawan I will treat you with the respect that comes with that relationship. I think it would be something like Obi Wan and Qui Gon’s relationship. You defying the council, me trying to discourage you from doing so, but in the end staying loyal to my master. I will take the trials after you die and then take on a Padawan of my own who eventually destroys everyone in the Academy including me.

Wait, scratch that last part. Just know that if you do not choose me I will hunt you down and destroy you. No no. Quite the opposite. I will not be offended in the least. I could still train with you and learn a great deal. I am worried however that I may not be able to work with you as much as a Padawan should. But I’m sure we could work something out. Heck, if you were able to train someone who is living in the next day, then I think time can be worked around.

I would like to talk to you in private before you make your final decision. I have picked up a certain style from someone I do not wish to name here. I want to know what you think of it, and if you feel you must “unteach” it to me I want to be convinced that there is a good reason. May the Force be with you.

Well...I smell nice. In exhange for JK2 skills, I can help you smell nice too.

I've had the game for almost a month. I play as much as I can and always play for fun. I respect people to a point, I don't kiss anyones ass. Cheating is a big no-no. I get along well with most people here. I like to learn as well as teach things to others.

I'm Canadian. -7:00 GMT. I can play a lot on the weekends and usually make some time in the evenings. I'm interested in getting to know you Ulic, you have quite the reputation.

I think I would carry the Belouve name with pride and honour.

Also, Mistress Ael'Ra is a fast learner with a good attitude. Make a good Padawan she would.

Appeal? Ok then.....hmmmm...(as some of you may know, I'm REALLY bad at this kinda stuff). Well, if you're looking for someone that can uphold the honor of the Belouve name, that I can do. I always fight with honor, I am very polite, in manner and in speech (except to SS, make fun of Koi will you! :)), I'm always more than willing to help others, even if it means going out of my way to do so. You more than likely know that I'm laid back, so if you want a g00f for a padawan, I'm your man :P. Anyway, I digress, I'm sure there are students who are in need of Ulic's teachings more than I, but hey, it can't hurt to try, right? Ok, I'm done rambling...carry on :D.

And also, there is a BIG, BIG differences between appealing to me, and begging. Often, it might be the person who does not beg at all, who appeals to me. It's more like asking someone to grab my attention. Begging is not the same as this. But enough time has been spent on trying to argue that point.

Well, notice I picked two. I selected the first in the manner you described, and am letting the second be an open race, sort of a wildcard.

You forget that if I always pick someone I WANT to have, really, really badly, then I learn little. Is is the wildcard student that teaches ME a whole lot. It is by teaching the student that is not the most compatible, that I learn to change on my own.

I could just pick two out of all the students, people who are my friends, and who always impress me online. But I want to see the student that I never run into, the one that may not WOW me. I want to teach that person, because we would learn the most from each other.

I post here for my third Padawan ever because I am looking for something that you cannot really show on a server. You said I should look for a Padawan that would benefit most from my teaching. That would be arrogant to think that they are the only ones who can learn something. With this Padawan, I'm looking for someone that would be a challenge to me, to where I can learn a LOT from teaching them. Teaching someone with qualities identical to me does not challenge me in all areas. I'm trying to develop otheres in multiple areas, as well as develop myself in multiple areas.

I've read enough lore on the Master/Padawan relationship to understand how this might best be done. At least I am not assigned a Padawan.

I have many reasons for choosing this method. If you really knew me, you would know that I take this Padawan relationship seriously. I am not going to screw around with it. I wish to give everyone a chance, the people that maybe never impressed others who were looking for a Padawan.

Really, if you don't get me here, don't try. If you want to critique my selection methods, become a Knight on your own, and you can pick how you want to. I am a unique Master, like each one is, and I have my own unique ways.

I really don't like that this is another instance where I express my own opinions, stance, and methods, and I am attacked for how I do things. It is becoming rather disgusting now, really. I didn't come into this thread attacking anyone, so don't attack my methods.

Good Idea Master Lew it does make you feel good when a Master comes to you. That is how I found myself with a Master. He begged me to be his Padawan, even going as far as sending me flowers to win my affection. In the end I would have said yes with out all the extra attention, but who can turn down flowers.

Ulic, I think it would be better if you would search out for the Padawan that you would like to instruct instead of posting on the forums. Get on the servers and watch how people interact with each other. Ask questions of the people you meet there. Then when you are interested in someone that you think would benefit from your instruction, ask them if they would like to be your Padawan.

This would give the person you chose the good feeling that you think that they are worthy of your time. This would be an honor to them that you would ask.
Making someone APPEAL to you, is like begging. There is no honor in that for either of you.

If they decline your offer to be your Padawan, it is in no way disrespectful to you. They might not want to be subject to a Master at this time.

Use this approach if you will, you might like it. I hope others Knights that read this might do the same.

:)

wow, about one comment each hour....

Anyways, thanks, I remembered some people that slipped my mind.

As for comments, I have some good "expressions of interest" and some good jokes. Metroid hit well with the joke, he's the best. Ael'Ra did a good job with the expression.

Bubu is in the Tokyo area, so the time difference isn't too great. I can accomodate him, so I can probably accomodate anyone else.

But, hmmm...the joke thing was just tongue-and-cheek...I didn't make this thread a "who has a good joke about the French?" (although I thought about making a thread like that.)

So, still, make good cases. And don't think that if I don't pick you that I will forget you. More than likely I will give some random sessions if I run into you.

So, as for the Belouve thing, it really shouldn't be an ego trip, I don't mean for it to be. It started out that people thought I should make a Belouve Royal Family, as a clan-like thing, with the BRF tag. I didn't want a clan thing, so I shrugged it off. Bubu is proud to be a Belouve, and so is Chessius, so I thought I might keep the "family" name in there somewhere.

Really, being a Padawan is a lot like being adopted (according to Jedi Lore.) I'm not taking things NEARLY that far, but we will be "like bros". Or...er..."like siblings" if you are female. So we'll share that bond of brotherhood, whatever one makes that out to be. So you're not only becoming my Padawan, you are becoming a sibling to everyone else. I look at it as more joining a "family". Granted, I am the master, but think of me as your older brother, but still, of respect, address as Master.

Does that help clear the ego thing? I tried, really, I'm not going to worry about it. Just that others liked the sense of family, and having some common "family" name, that's all.

As for appealing to me, I'm doing that not of ego, but to give people with little game skill a shot here. I'm trying to be fair, you don't need to impress me with skills. I can teach you most skills, but who you are, I can't change that. You might change, but that's by yourself.

But, I'll keep this open for...until...Wednesday night. Maybe. I won't be on this next weekend.

So, hope that helps clarify. The French-joke thing was mere jest. It's not going to win it for anyone, but you can make me laugh, no prob, doesn't hurt anything.

Well, keep up with whatever you want to say to me. You can keep posting. Some people I would like to hear more from.

Well some one needs to shut him up!hehehehehehe! No... Jedi Mika may plead for an hour or so for a master but he really can hold his own quite well. I throw my vote out to you to take him as your padawan. He has the willingness to learn and that could lead to great things. His skill increases every day. So he's not an idiot. Fight with him, question him and whore around with him for a while. You'll like him. As for the French... Well, I just love their laugh. Dop

Well I haven't got a French joke, or a Canadian joke, but I do just have a French-Canadian joke handy =)

An Alberta construction site boss was interviewing men for a job, when along came a Quebecois.

"I'm not hiring any Quebecers," the foreman thought to himself, so he made up a test hoping that the Quebecois wouldn't be able to answer the questions, and he'd be able to refuse him the job without getting into an argument.

"Here's your first question," the foreman said. "Without using numbers, represent the number 9."

"Witout numbers?" The Quebecois says. "Dat is easy," and proceeds to draw three trees.

"What's this?" the boss asks.

"Ave you got no brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine." Says the Quebecer.

"Fair enough," says the boss. "Here is your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99."

The Quebecois stares into space for a while, then picks up the picture that he has just drawn and makes a smudge on each tree. "Ere you go."

The boss scratches his head and says, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?"

"Each of da trees is dirty now! So it's dirty tree, and dirty tree, and dirty tree. Dat is 99."

The boss is getting worried he's going to have to hire him, so he says, "Alright, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100."

The Quebecer stares into space again, then he picks up the picture again and makes a little mark at the base of each tree, and says, "Ere you go. One 'undred."

The boss looks at the attempt. "You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred."

The Quebecois leans forward and points to the marks at the tree bases, and says, "A little dog come along and crap by each tree, so now you've got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, which make one 'undred.

So when do I start?"

"What am I? Carpet-beater?"

The very next day, Jean-Claude comes home from work and Michele says: "Oh, Jean-Claude, today your friend Pierre came over. He changed ze light-bulb and he beat ze carpet for me."

Greetings M'lord Belouve, i would be greatly honoured to have the opportunity to become your padawan.

I am an Australian Female (Amy Lane) aged 17. I attend high school still. I am not very good at appealing though :( this is more of an expression of interest. I know your a very honourable man Ulic and also that of your famliy Belouve. I have seen you fight, heard you on the servers, and your morals and Ideas and fairly much the same as mine, we both value honour greatly, even about points and winning duels. I know my chances of this are slim, but i decided its better to have tried and lost then never have tried at all. Thank you for your time m'lord.
