1337 servers are great: me and luke used to do trips to those. We'd either a)spam Lando Time or Smily Rules b)start a FFA c)beat clan admin people and the results are what you'd expect: THEY WORSHIPPED US!!! N'ah, we always got booted after a while. Ah, 1337 servers...some good competition there, but when you beat some of the best players...damn do they get pissed, and I must say, most of them have horrible attitudes. |

Xanatos my friend I did not just join the Academy to become good nor to merely attain status. I joined because I sensed alot of good people that liked the same things as I myself do. My comments meaning was less about obtaining skill and more about keeping a balance in things. Call me old fashion but I enjoy the interaction one gets with the trainers/Knights and such. I mean we can play on any server with just anyone. We play upon the Academy server to be with friends and our brothers and sisters of the Academy. The hard part about it is convincing them the JA isn't a clan. Also, if you go to recruit, don't jump on the 1337 servers. Those guys think they're the center of the World, if you wanna recruit, go for the new(er) players. This comment was edited by Jacen Aratan on Oct 14 2003 04:24pm. |

I believe that it is good for us to try and recruit people, whether we have 62 applicants a day, or 5, it cant hurt to just go and recruit. But having a program to do this? Nah, I think that it would be enough to just grab a friend off IRC, give him a IP, do some duels with people, and tell them about the JA. No programs needed to do that. Just take it upon yourself to go out there and help in your own way. _______________ |

Being here at the JA has been it's own reward. I joined on 07OCT03 and so far i've helped new people with the limited knoledge I've gained the past week. I've gotten loads of help from Instructors, Council Members, Knights, Padawans, and the regular students. I've never ran into a problem that can't be ironed out with a short chat so far. The reason, I am here anyway, is because I did my homework: I was on IRC finding out how things are done, reading the forums, and just researching anything I could get my hands on. I didn't find a single thing that I didn't like about the JA. I have made some friends here in the past week I think will be good long term friends, no matter the age or location. Vladarion, you dont have to have a master to become good. If you wanted to give a master to every student in this academy, then half the students themselves would be knights, and the other half of them would be students. Just go to classes, pick things up yourself, try new things, explore it all, there's always something you've missed out on, there's always something more to learn. An incentive program would be great... however from what I have seen right now there is a greater ratio of students to Knights... there for making the prospect of becoming a Padawan difficult for new members as they come in. Having more teachers than we have students would not be a problem but at the moment there are many students who are teacherless. I have been one of the lucky ones to be padawan, and one to Master Mace Windu of which I am honored. Standards must be kept in all things but if we can get the ratio more even and keep the quality of excellence then we should be okies. _______________ Padawan of Mace Windu, Brother to All. We had a recruitment class, with Aeth, some time ago, when the applications fell to about 5-10 per day. Worked, we got a few new members, including the weirdo Killborn who's now my padawan.  |
