As of this moment it is my pleasure to announce that The Jedi Academy Series is now green light and ready to go! For those of you who don't know, TJAS is a series of video shorts to show people exatley what the Academy is all about. To start with, research and recording will begin on a sort of intro video that could be posted on the site as a sort of advertisment to inform and create intrest. It will be a very general introduction to the JA, short clips of classes, duels, and interaction, all synched up to a great SW soundtrack! The proceeding videos will break down the Academy peice at a time with videos on the Staff/Trainers/Knights (and thier paddies!), the way the Academy is run, gametypes, projects, themed videos, and, of course, one specially reserved for the goof-offs and jokers here that need several years of therapy, preforming whatever crazy stunts, tricks, assassinations or laming they do. (A.K.A. the JA version of MTV's Jack@$$.  )How will this all be put together? It is actually very simple. First, anyone with a good connection to the servers can record a demo, the recorder will then go over the different recording of whatever they have recorded and choose the best one and send it to me (or to someone that can upload to a good server for me to download.) Once I have it, I can process and cut the demo into several clips that I will review and then select what fits based on what we have discussed here in this forum. Go ahed and start posting ideas and let's begin to hash this thing out. Actuall recording will not begin until at least a small layout of the first video is complete. In the meantime, experiment with the spectator mode while trying to keep track of a high-octane duel and test your connection to see if it is steady enough to handle recording. I have spoken about this with the entire Council and they all agree that this can be something great if we really put some effort into it. I myself am prepared to put myself into this. However, this is NOT my project! It is OUR project! Something that I want the entire Academy to get involved in, one way or another. Something that we can look at with pride when we are finished! Does anyone know if there is software that can edit the demo files directly? Remember the old Quake 1 movies that were hand built demos? There was software that was used where you could splice parts of various demos together. _______________ The Force is a powerful ally... ...and a terrible foe. |

Sweet, action. I'll have to give JA's demo feature a run and save fraps for games with no demo feature . Would you mind posting the console commands for the demo taking on my profile? Ok, first of all let me agree with Gish. HL demos are utter crap. I hate them with every particle of my being. Now, JO and JA demos rock. As do all other games with the Q3 engine. What the game does is record a stream of events, NOT of pictures. The information is pure data. That way, anyone can then replay the demo in-game and review it. What I am doing is plugging my s-video out cable to a high-resolution camera, then replaying it back into the computer. This will give us high quality footage, and crisp, clear sound. Not to mention the original demo will remain intact no matter what. Please trust me on this urded, I had all this worked out beforehand.  _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

Well, that's what fraps does only with system overhead The only other game I've played with a demo feature is HL (not counting jk2) and if you've dealt with HL demos you know they're utter shit so I have never even bothered with trying demos in jk2 and JA. If they're more than a compilation of screenshots like HL and actually video like fraps produces, hell yeah, use the demo feature. Please do not create video like that urded. Just take the video. If anyone else has a video card with either video in/out or s-video in/out ports then they are welcome to assist me in converting and compiling. For now, keep it to demos. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

Why bother when I can sources straight from the game onto my computer? Don't need any system overhead at all. Besides, with a demo, you can record it at YOUR settings and then when I playback with MY settings then it will still be the same. Hey, if you have $30 to spare, something better than using the demo feature is fraps. It's an fps monitor, screenshot taker, and video taker (with sound). It has a hefty system overhead when taking video since it records in an unencoded, uncompressed .avi format but if you have a good pc, it does better than taking a demo. Oh, and don't bother with the demo version of fraps if you want to check it out. The demo is utter shit. Music: YU-GI-OH season 1 title, it's semi quick and semi slow, but it's really cool. Duel of the Fates is cool, but it would take insane mixing. I propose our beloved theme, the yavin one Video: Cool idea, I'd propose to do one movie like, "this is a normal jk2 player." Then show him chat killing, using kill trackers and other laming. Then, "this is a jedi academy student", and you see him stop duelling when someones chatting, bowing before a duel, saying gf after a fight, etc You choose Idea: do I have to even say anything?
