As of this moment it is my pleasure to announce that The Jedi Academy Series is now green light and ready to go! For those of you who don't know, TJAS is a series of video shorts to show people exatley what the Academy is all about. To start with, research and recording will begin on a sort of intro video that could be posted on the site as a sort of advertisment to inform and create intrest. It will be a very general introduction to the JA, short clips of classes, duels, and interaction, all synched up to a great SW soundtrack! The proceeding videos will break down the Academy peice at a time with videos on the Staff/Trainers/Knights (and thier paddies!), the way the Academy is run, gametypes, projects, themed videos, and, of course, one specially reserved for the goof-offs and jokers here that need several years of therapy, preforming whatever crazy stunts, tricks, assassinations or laming they do. (A.K.A. the JA version of MTV's Jack@$$.  )How will this all be put together? It is actually very simple. First, anyone with a good connection to the servers can record a demo, the recorder will then go over the different recording of whatever they have recorded and choose the best one and send it to me (or to someone that can upload to a good server for me to download.) Once I have it, I can process and cut the demo into several clips that I will review and then select what fits based on what we have discussed here in this forum. Go ahed and start posting ideas and let's begin to hash this thing out. Actuall recording will not begin until at least a small layout of the first video is complete. In the meantime, experiment with the spectator mode while trying to keep track of a high-octane duel and test your connection to see if it is steady enough to handle recording. I have spoken about this with the entire Council and they all agree that this can be something great if we really put some effort into it. I myself am prepared to put myself into this. However, this is NOT my project! It is OUR project! Something that I want the entire Academy to get involved in, one way or another. Something that we can look at with pride when we are finished! The demos need to actually look nice though you know? So chat shouldn't be displayed...nor the whole HUD really...question for you thou, when you've got your demo and you go back to main menu and type '/cl_avimovie 30' or w/e, i did the command right...but nothing happens. The demo is in the Demos folder...but that folder is gamedata/academy/demos. It was created by the game. Any idea what's wrong? |

for my ideas i will need lots of help mostly from administrators but also from talented students who want to be in a movie all of the academy will be proud of here it it will be short but sweet. if you want to be in the movie leave a post under my name. . my idea was draw pictures it would write "the Jedi Acadremy" suddenly jump to a 2 second thing of a guy about to kill you throught rdfa. the it would write "wield the power of the force" Then it would show a class. the it would Writ "kill your enemies" It would flash thoruough many difrent scenes such as doulble sided lightsabers 3 vs 3 vs 3 vs 3 Guys doing rdfa ydfa rdfa being blocked all the x's are guys that are going to block the rdfa all O's are people doing the rdfa x o x o x o x o x o x o _______________ Mapper a la strange. Aphex, go ahed and send 'em in. urded, go ahed and post them here, thats what this thread is for. I found some music I like, listen to the track that plays in the JA MP startup menu. Ok a few things about demoing: first of all, i recommend you get a script to help you record demos. typing in all the commands in every time gets annoying. especially when you have a lot to do. chosen's JA scripts include demo functions, so that would be fine. if you still decide to do it manually, don't forget the following: g_sync 1 // this is needed. with this the game will appear choppy to you when you record. that is normal, the demo will come out fine. don't forget to turn off afterwards (g_sync 0). the full command is g_synchronousClients but g_sync is enough. to start recording, type "record [demoname]" to stop recording, type "stop" or "stoprecord" that's all for the basic commands. if you want your demo to come out better, try playing around with the following commands to see how they might improve your demo: cg_draw2d ! // toggles your HUD on and off cg_drawgun ! // toggles your gun on and off cl_noprint ! // toggles chat messages and text on the screen on and off cg_ThirdPersonCameraDamp – Changes how the camera follows you when in 3rd person mode. default value is 0.3. play around changing the values to see the results. now, if you are playing the JA mod, then all demos will be saved in the gamedata/academy/demos if you're not using any mods, they will be saved in gamedata/base/demos so don't think your demos have disappeared just because you can't find them in one folder. look for them everywhere in your JK folder. if you have any more questions about demos or stuff, ask. i'll try my best to answer. _______________ make install -not war This comment was edited by Bubu on Oct 23 2003 05:45am. |

Khalek, if you know how to then by all means, go ahed and post instructions on how to record a demo. I am kinda swamped at the moment. Bail, consider you and your Master our sound crew. All great ideas, but I wouldn't mix music of star wars, because that could be tricky and buggy I would just choose one song and make different demos with different songs Anyway, a great program to mix images with extra music or something like that is TMPGenc, it works great for me _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Hmm...this looks excellent. One suggestion, Sared. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, then just write a few notes down on demo recording AS YOU DO IT, as it'd be useful stuff for the Holocron, I think. An up-to-date sindie scoop on how someone actually produced this would be just the kind of tutorial-esque thing that'd be perfect for those of us that want to try demoing, and haven't before.
