I already posted this on the JAK forums, but at Ashley's request, I will post her statement on here. "Hey...my comp was banned from all JA related things the other day. But I want to tell you what happened. My cousin was... under the influence (his name is Andrew, I think he said in the game) and the password was saved on JO so he went in, and started laming people I guess. I don’t know. But I understand how I got in trouble for it, but do I deserve to be banned from the JA? I mean there’s really nothing I could have done, I can’t take off the passwords of the JA because it’s all... you know how JK is, it’s not consistent, it saves passwords, sometimes you join a game with a name you had months ago. Well anyways, I don’t think I should be banned because it really wasn’t my fault, I told him not to do anything like that when I first joined, but that’s about all I can do, I got mad at him, and I know he won’t do it again. But I think it was unfair for me to just be banned forever right off the spot without even a chance to explain. That’s not very fair at all. I had no chance to explain anything, whoever did it just jumped to conclusions without even getting the story and I feel that’s really unfair. Well said Solo; I support you in this. Who the hell cast this girl in gold anyway? Why can't she keep control of her own computer. Since when does JK2 or JK3 store the server passwords, I have to type them in every time. I have 2 game players (more sometimes) in my house. You have to have a password to even log onto my computer, and if it's a different account you can't even access my "sensitive" programs such as games that require passwords for network play. I'm not a rocket sceintist but just from reading that message I don't believe it. The sad part is that i've heard these same excuses from recently banned members that want me to help them get back into the JA, My brother/friend did it; I didn't know that they were on my computer. This kind of stuff is seemingly becoming a fadd. The best thing that we as members of the JA can do is don't endorse it. One of the recent bans was a buddy of mine. He did the same thing and got the same result. It's called INTEGRITY and RESPONSIBILITY people. I happen to think that this place is for a type of serious gamer that wants a group of friends to play with, that won't cheap shoot them left and right, will help them when they ask, and will generally respect them according to how they conduct themselves. I joined this community for those exact reasons. The bottom line is that Ashley is GONE. It's the council's decision and they have made it. I think the answer is pretty obvious and perhaps that was just a rhetorical question. Personally, I also think it was very unlikely that Ashley was a girl. I banned this guy called " . ". And I knew it was Ashley when I did it. I like to chek the person's IP on the site 1st to see who she/he is. Thas the part where I have my chat box up and everyone is shouting "WTF are you doing Jacen ban him". Anyway, I cheked the guy's IP and it matched Ashley's. When I came to the server the other students had already warned him and told him about the rules. Then SS did it. Then I did it. He kept ignoring us. So I banned. Now 3 pieces of evidence. 1st - If he was her cusin , why did he went to the trouble of installing a kill tracker just to play behind her back. 2nd - Why would he have binded name changes if he was playing behind her back.(He changed his name a couple of times trough binds) 3rd - Take a peek at this thread: http://www.thejediacademy.net/forums_detail_page.php?f_id=5070 Specially at this comment "... and u students cant tell me thatni cant post that, it was an instructor who was the one trying to hook me up with it, so be quiet .." WTF is that ? That tells me a lot about this person's character. I don't even think that this person is a girl by the way she writes. Everyone knows that there are lots of peeps that get off by going ingame pretending to be a girl and wipe the floor with the other peeps. Some pretend to be new to the game and say crap like I have the game for 2 days and then they beat the crap out of you and laugh. Other pretend to be girls. It's not the 1st time it happends here. Anyway if she want's us to even consider letting her get back in, tell her to talk to me on TS or msn using a microphone. She better have a girlie voice!!!!! Everyone is going nuts about a picture of a 16 year old blonde that has been around for a week or so. Please control your hormones gentleman. I was not in this position for cases like Jim and Loaf that got back in for countless times. And fortunatly Whispy was able to keep the Spawn gang out. These days we have lots of peps runing around the servers thinking that they can do whatever they feel like without having to care about rules. Specialy on JK3 servers. So I'm sorry, I won't open any exceptions or precedents. I'm not god allmighty so the decision doesn't depend on me. She has her right to plea her case, but she should do it personaly. She is not banned from the IRC channel so she is free to talk to any of us. IMO, considering the rules are explained clearly, she has probably not been banned without her giving an explanation. Now passwords are 'saved' if you do not exit the game and it may happen sometimes that you just leave your comp for a while with the game running, at least it happens to me. Now considering the 'story', I can't tell whether 'she' is making up an excuse or saying the truth but I trust the judgement of the Council in this matter. I don't see the point of this thread, as DarthM said, would you still try to make 'her' come back if 'she' had not put this nice pic in her profile ? One other thing I noticed and I just keep wondering: she acted as a newbie, asking questions, enrolling in all the classes available, saying she didn't know about anything and yet she is a real good fighter in duel, knows all the basic moves in JO, knows the timing of the stances, and how to use them... This sounds funny, doesn't it ? I was there, I saw it happen. JK2 doesn't save passwords, I've never seen any mod/script that does that. The laming was pretty horrible. It did seem like those in high power did give her quite a bit of time before banning her, although I wasn't really paying attention much...most probably done through whisper or something anyway. The story in general seems, kind of fishy. Assuming it was a lie, the tactics she used were pretty obvious (not saying I'm experienced in it myself...but I am quite an observer). Only three things to say about this experience: JAT room is sweet; Don't mess with the Academy; and she's got to be the most popular lamer ever! |

*Blank* <irellevancy> The JACs are very merciful for such situation and, as I have experienced in the past, very thourough in investigating and giving the 'suspect' a chance to defens his/her position. Leaving passwords saved on any program is begging for something for something to happen. This happens way too much... People just get banned, right off the bat. Seriously man, people get banned, without even being told. Not an email, nothing. People should be given a chance to explain themselves. So what if this person was a tough dueler? Maybe she has played JKA/JKO *BEFORE* coming to the JA? You don't know. We can't prove she wasn't the one laming on the servers, but we can't prove she was either. I say we give her the benefit of the doubt, and if she acts up again... *slap!* Edit : About the whole password-saving thing... I was not there and have none of the facts but what is posted. But I can say I put full faith in those of the Staff,Council,Trainers,Knights whom are dealing, and who delt with this issue. Ok, this is how I see it: IF it really was her brother, then she doesn't deserve to be banned. BUT: Was it Ashley that explained herself to Solo, or was it her brother? If it was her, and she couldn't explain herself... Then I'd say, keep her banned If it was her brother that had to explain himself in her name, then I would lift the bann But always keep in mind that it could just be a lame excuse to, that it was her brother, so be careful. I know, I didn't really say anything to defend or judge her, but then remember what Gildor Inglorion said about wizards: Do not go to wizards for advice, for they will say yes and no at the same time.
