Hi, i got this probleme that whenever i fight a staff user and he starts to lame his butterfly attack i get killed in a matter of seconds, running away is no answer but i can' seem to find a decent counter attack for his butterfly ... im more then open for suggestions cause its kinda irritating, thanks  forever_______________ " The acceptance of others is not a guarantee. The one where they knock your saber away and decapitate you with both sabers?  The one where they move your saber away with one and impale you in the chest with the other? Or my favourite, the one where they hold the lock with the one saber and then use the force to move the other around in an arc to stab their opponent in the back? Mind you the staff has the Maul special by knocking the saber up and then a spinning back stab! _______________ The Force is a powerful ally... ...and a terrible foe. |

HI here's my comment about that hated butterfly attack *Tosses some katarn wisdom* battel experience 6# in JKG the last part of the damn butterfly (where the staff barely moves as it the charter ends the combo by turnig round) it has often killed me when i had full health and schield..However double saber 'shield' almost always kills a butterflyattcker and i don't mean the spinning kata. This is because the butterfly get's stuck against your rapid saber attack. NEAT! Like rapid skull basching a butterfly to a pulp. Of course there's also a way to counter this but i ain't gonna say it heh _______________ The dark side is for the weak, for they could not resist it. The Katarns rule! |

Er, I guess I can call my technique the scissors then ..... I basically just keep attacking and turn right towards my target then to the opposite direction. |

many good players (i'm talking about skilled players who are good with any saber  ) have adopted exactly 2 staff techniques. left-right scissors and bf. that's it. the scissors own everything and bf, well..anyway, there is no real counter to a butterfly, although i have heard people talk about the blue single saber kata as a good counter. what i usually do is evade the bf (force jump) and do a quick lunge into the staff user when their bf ends (last spin). if you are close enough they might believe in a chance to still hit you with their move, being easy targets once it has ended. of course, the good bf lamers know when do establish distance even when being in a bf. _______________ When the winds of change roam the land, there are those who raise walls - and others who build pin wheels. |

well put java, Best way to look at it, is that when you do learn the best way to counter it, the people who spam the move wont be a problem to you anymore. "Laming" in duel mode? LOL! Attacking before bow is laming, and attacking when the other guy puts up a chat box and says he needs to answer the phone or something, but using the same move a lot as "laming?" Hmmmm...I find it quite hard to lame with a butterfly attack. Maybe I suck but the best way to defend in my opinion would be to wait for the staff to stop moving and lame the losers ass with a cheap move to piss them off (like the dual saber barrier) _______________ "So, how does it feel, being able to take a head off at 1000 yards away?" |

Since I am a Staff user I DONT user butterlfy due to its trash of taken so much sheilds and health from the target what I recommend is with singel:a good lunge willl counter it but u need to REALY time it good,or usin red style against it is preety good to ie moveing to ur right or left and attack from that direction,for dual sabers:ither the saber twirl special or that jump spin special once again u need to tiem it GOOD, as for staff use the saber twirl special or backwards jump attack, remember TIMEING is key so u wont take lots or ne dmg at all ALL of this is just my experience with the butterfly so hope that helps ya _______________ Sister to Smily,Axion,and CT Friend to ALL... Feniks, running away is too slow, jump away will get you out of there. If they do it surprisingly on you, theres not much you can do. It's lame, I'm all about the staff and fight honorably, so if you ever need a good fight, I know myself, Odan, and alot of others will fight without even doing a kata, roll, or any other sort of cheese that takes away from the fun. *Side note* check out the spam i left on the test server, hope you enjoy _______________ Be honorable, be friendly, be trustworthy. I use staff most of the time, but i try not to spam a move or be too predictable. I counter the butterfly by side stepping out of the way(still have to watch out cause they can change direction in mid air). Or jump high over it and try to come down timing a strike as you land. After a butterfly, you can be slightly disorientated, so it'll give you a second advantage. If you use single, try to counter with ydfa or rdfa. Timing is tough but it will eventually show the guy his butterfly won't save him for long. Otherwise, you take a staff and spam the butterfly to him for a while, and when he begins to whine that you're spamming, you explain him that he's doing the same goddamn thing over and over... At last, if that guy doesn't want to understand, just refuse to fight him, tell him he's not worth the effort or better keep silent and walk away. Spammers are a pain in the a** but if you stay cool and act wisely you make them go crazy. I've learned that the hard way like you. Btw a lot of ppl in here are worthy adversaries that do not spam the same moves over and over again...
