Staff vs Red Single | |
Rendar - Student |
Anyone have any tips for a staff user vs a red single user that only does red triple combo and then jumps away. I can find anything that works. The only attacks i cant do to them end up dealing 40 or more damage to me as well. So basicly if dont attack i get hurt, and if i do attack i get hurt. I cant find a way to beat crouching red triple followed by an immediate back flip. |

I find fighting red especially hard if he is lagging!! just can't time when to go in _______________ I'm leaving, on a jet plane~ |

Yeah, but if you time it right, and play a little footsies (going back and forth to try to trick them in which way you will attack), you can fit in those swipes. But if you mess up, BIG BOO BOO! So you've got to be really careful, and master the dodging and timing. _______________ Top ten reasons to get a better computer...|My fan |

I have the same problem with red~~ the red masters always jump away after the 3rd swing (or 2nd when you are charging) and its so easy to get killed when the staff clashes with red _______________ I'm leaving, on a jet plane~ |

Secret to Staff v Single (if you are Staff) is: Timing, timing, and TIMING. Timing the Staff, is one of the hardest aspects of the game, but once you get the hange of it, than you can take the Staff a long way. If they are using red, than you have to hit between swings. Since the Staff swing is faster, you can fit a swing (or maybe two right spins) in. I usually keep a safe distance and listen when I hear the second swing, then I charge in. That way, if they have a third swing, then I will get to him right after it, and if he stops at two, then I can get a swing in before he can start the next combo. If they are using yellow, my advice is that you use scissors occationally and fast swings. (People don't usually use yellow, so I haven't developed very much strategy to it.) If a single is using blue, more than likely (epecially if it's a newb) is going to lunge you. If they are trying to lunge you, tease them by running close and far, close and far, ect, untill they actually lunge or change styles, then you can get in a swing. Well, now that I've told everyone my secrets, I'll stop babbling and let you get on with your life. PS: I think there should be a Staff Class. I'd like to expand on my skills, but there isn't one. _______________ Top ten reasons to get a better computer...|My fan |

Wow this thread is still alive? Well i am retiring soon but i have come to notice that the staff users have gotten more defensive against red, to the point they won't even move until they are sure they can't be hit. So basically now it makes for a very boring and ridiculous fight. No longer can i say that simply red alone can beat some staff users, because they remind me back in the day of the defensive whores in jk2 that i got pissed off at so much And now even the dual users are learning how easy it is to beat red. Thats the sad thing, i knew how easy it really was to beat yet kept using the strategy since not a lot of people figured it out. That, is where yellow now comes in. It's impossible for a staff to be defensive agaisnt yellow and they think they have a major advantage. Surprisingly, yellow can in fact dominate..despite the big hits you take when your blow is blocked. Red can easily win against staff users who fight, but against defensive people (whores, as we call it), yellow is needed. As always it is the man who makes the saber, but the way the man makes the saber has changed a bit from when we started this. _______________ "A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary" |

And never do a Kata. They will lunge you to your death. Believe me. I learned it the hard way. _______________ 362 Ohi on! |

Try to stay out of reach all the time. Once they are done striking move in and slash sideways. And then jump out. Don't do the following very often: Jump near them a little to the side perhaps and do a side-way butterfly move their direction. It's kind of tricky to dodge. But many could consider it cheating. _______________ 362 Ohi on! |

Red although powerful has that delay, and over the couple months of fighting red stance, you see that slowness come forth when you watch for it, and you can time a few swipes in there after a swing. It's tough to do though, and a good red user will usually have a backup plan to counter your plan.... _______________ Be honorable, be friendly, be trustworthy. Show respect to all whom you meet. Alright. Forgive me if I'm a bit defensive, lol Edit: I've spent a while learning staff, and beating red is easy for the most part. Use yellow to lure them in then bust them up with the staff from close range. Walking and using forward+left+right+left+right works very well. Also, running in after their combo ends, as I think I said. Yellow has greater range than the staff itself so it works well to hit between swings, though I found it is true that you can hit between red hits with staff. It just requires better timing. Also, learning to do trick butterflies works nicely, but some people aren't into the whole butterfly thing. _______________ © This comment was edited by Carve on Jan 08 2004 12:38am. |

Oh no you misuderstand, I did not mean to imply that Lrod was only red tripple, jsut that Lrod was the first to do the crouching red tripple, so it is his move kinda, not that it was all he did, he was the man. _______________ Using no way as way. Having no limitation as limitation. |

All else fails... jump over and attack from behind. That or you could get close and have him attack, then dodge and then jump ahead to catch him on the rebound. I can remember in JK2 when I was good enough in Blue stance that I could run in and strike a Red user in between swings and get away with no problem. I'd wear them down until I figured a lunge would finish it, and that's what I'd use. I don't quite have that sort of timing anymore _______________ http://steamcommunity.com/id/citizen059 |
