Staff vs Red Single

Anyone have any tips for a staff user vs a red single user that only does red triple combo and then jumps away. I can find anything that works. The only attacks i cant do to them end up dealing 40 or more damage to me as well. So basicly if dont attack i get hurt, and if i do attack i get hurt. I cant find a way to beat crouching red triple followed by an immediate back flip.

im no longer worried about red stance, yes it does more damage than god knows what.... but i found out a little technique that does 65 dmg for each of their swings and lets you roll out with no dmg.. so im happy now.

Never did i say win everytime, i said most of the time. My opinions aren't based on what i believe, they are based on facts i see. So my opinion is based on simple facts. Besides, i already stated when the skill level was equal and they knew how to play, a single would win for more adaptability.P.S. Thats what i'm hoping for someday, to get shut down horribly so im wrong and can work hard again. So hopefully one day, shut down i will be. It is the only reason i duel in the game.

U know everyones stated things on this forum is OPINION its never FACT
just cause u say Single is more "adaptable" then Staff/Dual doesnt realy meen its is and it'll win EVERYTIME
for all we know Dual/Staff is more adaptable then Single whos knows 4 sure..1 thing is even tho I can prove it or not it DOESNT meen it will be correct this is all OPINION never FACT remember that so most of the things we are typing down can be COMPLETLY incorrect..
In short ne 1 can win reguardless of what style they use never think 1 style is better than the other cause if u do 1 day ur gonna get shut down and caught with ur tail between ur legs..
ne wayz thats my $0.02

If two people are equally skilled at single and staff, know the ins and outs, don't kata and do none flashy moves. The single will prevail. One word. Adaptability. Your more adaptable in a single than you are in a staff. Staff may be good, even if your a defensive whore and you think no one can beat you. If you are equally skilled, which is rare to find, the single will overcome the staff. The single still dominates the game even though they killed a lot of it in this game. The only way the staff or dual could become dominant is if t hey ruin single to the point where you can't do much damage. At that point, i'll complain and then quit. However, as it stnads now, the dominant force in jk3 is the single user. I have plenty of proof to back up my claims as well and will be happy to prove my point whenever :)

it's been too long! i need to get my azz kicked some more man! :)

who was it that was a good staff user... Golden Ranger or something like that i think, i had to resort to timing katas to even do any damage to the guy. he was owz0ring me with staff against my single. i couldn't get anything going against him, with any stance.

Kenyon, I completely see where your coming from. And you can just tell by the amount of katas that come through their fighting. Hopefully though through the academy they see that there's more to it, then left+right clicking at the same time :).

As I said, unless it's a very good staff user. :D

What happens is that a lot of newbies often think "hey, that's an easy weapon, and fast, let's try it" and they spam the staff to death.

One thing I wanted to conclude with that I forgot is that all this can be done without laming. I'm a firm believer in not laming, and I try (it happens sometimes with the way the keys are pushed and I apologize profusely when it does) not to push the controls to throw the animations into swing. But the kata of swinging the saber around quickly, or the figure 8 animation, or the hated butterfly, those 3 aren't even a part of how I fight. When I'm talking of taking on other saber users Rendar, I mean it with just strict, straight up saber fighting, none of the pre-animated garbage. Alright, cool, wanted to clear that up before the responses come in. :P

Hate to be the one to go against the grain, but a good staff user will destroy any saber style if used correctly. With having felt intimidated in dealing with single saber users in the past, there are a few things I took upon myself to fix that. After fighting with staff for so long (since the beginning actually), and getting tips from noob through kebeker and the experiences I've gotten fighting everyone (at every end of the spectrum fighting wise), I can say my first few comments above with 150% confidence. Rendar, hunt me down bro on the JA home tonight, and I'll teach you how the strong stance is weak and able to be beaten.

*The last comment, wanted to add this because it sounds like I'm a pompous @$$, I mean it in the "Any stance can beat any stance with time and practice" sort of way, not the "We can kick everyone's butt sort of way" that I made it sound like. I'm a lover not a hater :D*

Well heres a few things
mostly all the time of course they will use red on a staff user cause they say its bugged or what ever which is true
BUT it applys to ALL other styles ESPEACIALY red
cause 1 hit can take 10o/50+ off a cheap leg sweep
so ne wayz for red stance its best to do sisscors on red swings that way u get in atleast 3-4 hits b4 they can land 1 on u
usually they like to jump in attack and jump out
or jump in crouch attack and jump out its VERY ez to see comeing so all u need to be is aware and if u can its is VERY possiable to do a manula counter on a red swing ut u need timeing
so hope some of my rembaling works for ya:P

ultimately its hopeless. A good red user will always dominate a staff unless they are a defensive whore who does nothing btu sit back and relax. Then the fight gets long, u get bored and just dont try. Butterfly spam won't work either. Its a simple fact that single still will dominate the jka world.

the problem with a strafe attack is that as soon as you hit, there next swing is in your lap, and if you do it on there last swing, they have already backfliped out of the way.
