OK now I like the new map and all, but compared to the Academy version 4 and previous versions of that map. The new map just doesnt stand out like it should. Its just isn't "jedi" like I mean sure it has some neat stuff like the spawn rooms but those are bad for the server and we really dont need those types of things. The academy map v4 was a good map and still is today I say we go back to that map who withs me!!! So I want to start a poll and maybe if we get lucky enough we can have the "good" map back up and not this "spawn map" as I call it. _______________ Life is Something that Happens when You can't Get to Sleep. Acey your right. I dont think badly of Faded or Virtue for making the map. I am happy that they are making a map, whether have them then anyone else. For now I'm going to keep my comments to myself until the next version of the map comes out! So please nobody reply to this thread ever ever again, unless you really really want to! MOckran, considering the crashes and stuff. that is something that virtue faded and Chosen one are all looking at and trying to rectify. considering server crashes from people spawning too many whatever. it's not the mappers fault. look around you, to your fellow jedi. to that annoying kid that had somehow found a way to fly the tie-fighter around the central courtyard or something. it all comes down to the type of people we have here at the academy. being here for a whole year. I've seen many types of members and many types of rules. but a few really stand out (the rules that is) Respect if you have no respect for anyone, don't even bother joining or continueing with the JA Patience people jumping in line, people deciding to do their own thing during classes. it all comes down to sitting there and thinking about how you really want to be. plus many others that need not be mentioned as you should all know. ~runs back ON-topic~ I understand that you loved the jk2 Academy map. and if you liked it so much. have a look at the jk2 servers. they are still running them. my opinion is that the Academy is growing and so should the map in a way. the jk2 academy was nice and cosy. this new map promises the be much larger. and if you have or have not noticed. lets say the server is full(20 people). if 20 people decided all to cram into the bar. it would be LAGVILLE. but, if these 20 people decided to split up into groups around the whole map. the lag would be much less.. you adsl and cable users probably might or mightnot know this. but with a 56k bane upon you. you really notice it as it totally decides if you are able or not to actually play without too much lag. think about it... _______________ .Lag Bro to Xanatos. Onion the issues wont get fixed! Not for a while. Now Faded is adding that vehicle place which sounds cool on paper, but in the game its gonna cause more server crashes. I love the new map..yes there are some issues. But hey they will be worked out its beta  I agree with buzz and faded. jk3 is not jk2, yes it may be some of the same but its a new game with a lot more features added to it. We are a school and cannot favor other aspects of the game over others. Its now how a school should work. With this next comment i mean no offense to anyone but.. Things change. People must learn to change. In JK2 the only aspects the game really had in standard mp was guns and dueling along with a few other things. JK3 has vehicles much more complex movements and more possiblities. If we don't create a map capable of handling these things we're stunting the abilities to train. The fact that all those rooms are there doesn't mean you HAVE to use them all. Faded I agree. I would like it if the new map for the JK3 home wouldn't have anything special about it at all. It doesn't need huge space, it doesn't need spawns, it doesn't need any of the additions that JK3 brought into the mix. great guys.. so you love the jav2 map. that's wonderful. i like it too. but here's the thing.. it's for jk2. if you want to play it on jk3, you have to go through the long process of converting into a jk3 map. and even then, it won't look right. but let's say it does get converted and you finally have your beloved jav2 map for jk3. that's great except that the map only offers a gunning area and lots of duel space. it doesn't provide for other aspects of jk3 like vehicles and advanced movement. what you folks need to understand is that jk3 is not jk2. they are completely different games and should be treated as such. |

I remember ALL of the JA maps.. >.< Like what map got the elevators added.. I HATE THE ELEVATORS lol What map had the powerups like bacta and shield got moved away from the window.. who's sucky idea was that? I remember the pit, and when we always made it so we could walk with the spikes.. Heck, I even remember the 3 platforms that only the oldbies would remember JA MAP v4 is the sux0rz JA MAP v2 is the r0x0rz Nuff said. _______________ slorp |

now i was here since the first map,first site design and all that...my favorite map was the one called lostt emple wich featured a hole in the ground that lead through a tunnel/drop to a lost temple area,it was awesome-the newer map is ok but on the next one lets make it more jedish hehe _______________ Free Tibet! I think the new map is AWESOME!!! Even though it's not done yet. And I can't say that I hate ANY of the maps used by us (don't forget Advent 2). I was on the JK2 home server with the V2 map and experienced a bit of nostalgia. But, it's better to move forward than to stay in the past, though it is nice to visit the past once in a while. Mune's Bar is the SHIZNIT!!! i dunno. I've seen 2 or 3 different maps and I must say, I love the one for JA. The Guns castle area is great! (although, i would really like to see it built up a little bit larger on the sides) My only real complaint about the map we use for JA is the courtyard. I dont like the grass. Just looks a little wierd to me. I've played the map for JO and its nice, but is missing large open spaces for fighting. _______________ What we do in life, echoes in eternity. |
