Some of our students run private servers. If this is your case and you wish to share it with the rest of the students please post the info here.
Do it on the following format. Student Name: Server Name: Server IP: Server Port: *Map List: *Mod List: *Extras List (hilts, skins,etc): Remember, these forums are public to all visitors so if the server is supposed to be private don't post the password here. In fact, hardware in general doesn't - I've run a 16-client JKA server quite happily off a 600 MHz P3. The 'Net connection is the only real consideration. 2) eeeww, a server running on Windows. your hardware is perfectly fine for a dedicated JKA server, great actually, as long as you plan to host reletively few clients (12 or less) and can dedicate most of your system resources to the server. Well not MOST but say not as to bog it down with another floating point app (compileing video, useing audiograbber, etc) The connection is where you will be made or broke in the lag department, im sorry to say <_<  _______________ It's a false hologram, it IS artificial... |

so my hardware is: (this is a spare system) 1.4 ghz AMD 1 GB DDR Should I be concerned with Video for this machine? Will run whatever Microsoft OS needed (I will still need this machine for my lab work) My connection as tested at dslreports.com 4082 kbps or 4 mbit down 497 kbps up lets have some brutal honesty on if this machine will do well for serving Jedi Academy, if all is kosher I want to serve my maps for beta if I throw a couple bucks at it i will be able to leave it up 24/7 I have the technical expertise to maintain may need to call on you all to get it set up _______________ “Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. - A DSL connection can support a good few clients without any lag, usually, so I'd recommend a Broadband connection or better. - I'm not sure about that version of Win, but I know the server console application Raven released works best on most recent Windows systems. - 256MB RAM or more if you can get it - this can also decrease the chances of lag. |

What kind of specs would one need to start a JK3 Game server? ...bandwidth for no more than ten players? ...will Win 2k3 Server to the trick? ...recommended settings for the above server? would be cool to know. Alrighty folks, just thought I'd give you a small heads up. I'm sure alot of you remember back in the day when jk3 first came out, and power duels was such a great gametype loved by all. And I'm sure you all remember that most power duel servers were sitting on mp/duel8, the abandoned city. Well, for all of you who miss those good ol' days, Sfire's server is now running power duels, on basejka, on a 24/7 rotation of the abandoned city map. I'm getting tired of Naboo Hills, so if I'm on the Estate it might be on another map, maybe even with cheats on. (Regulated cheats, though! You need permission!) Update on the server at taddia.com: Get files, including the map, from here (13.7Mb): http://www.taddia.com/salet_files.zip If you already have the naboohills2.1 map but aren't sure about or don't have the droids, animals and vehicles then get this one instead (9Mb): http://www.taddia.com/salet_files_nomap.zip If you already have the map with the vehicles et. al. then get this smallest one (5.5Mb): http://www.taddia.com/salet_files_nomap_novehicles.zip Come to beautiful Naboo! Dane's All Night Kewlery, Aussie Server. Not always up, usually on hours when the most aussies are on, 6-10 east coast time, sometimes earlier during the day. usually no password on since not many people join servers with high ping to america, if unsavoury types join i'll kick them and password the server but usually dont have it, password listed below ^_^ sidenotes: ip is static and shouldnt change. im pretty layed back as far as rules go but use common sense. we are running the academy map and i will be enforcing a respect rule in vladarion's memorial. this isnt a JA server but it is a server only for other JA members so i'll assume you're all familiar with what that portion of the map is for and if you mess up there you wont be welcome on my server. Well i'm still running test with this thing, but no harm to let people connect to it... If you get disconnected or anything... well that's because i'm still configuring it...
