A "Teaching teaching" class?

I've not been to the "15 minutes of fame" class, maybe it does exactly this, but anyway:

I would really like to have a teaching class, where you learn how to teach. Period. How to construct a woking class and stuff like that. What do you think? Personally I make no secret that I would very much like to become a trainer and teach, but I really suck at teaching. (Well, I suck att saber combat too, but that's a question of time. :D)

Thanks for all the response, I'll have start going to the 15 minutes of fame class.

By the way, it comes from some author I believe, he said that in their lifetime, everyone gets 15 minutes of fame. In one way or the other. You might die in a spectacular way, and be on the front page for a day. He meant that everyone is noticed at some point in their life.

When I think of teaching, I find I get a little bit embarressed. It's sometimes hard, especially when the people who have attended the class play up. It takes practice. So I believe that people should find their own strategy and get some experience.

When your the teacher, your basically in charge. Being in charge kinda makes me dizzy and sort of nervouse. So taking that class several times and teaching a few times will help get rid of that nervouseness. If anyone wants someone to teach them, it would give the person who is teaching some experience if they hadn't already taught a lot of times before.

I think that the person wanting to get used to teaching without being nervous at all, should start with one person, then two people then gradually get the audiance into a big crowed of people.

I don't know how that would work, so I can't think of anything else to say at the minute except that I think that people (who want to learn how to teach better) should take that class (whatever it's called :P) and get some experience.

hey Bamse, i would recommend doing some writing first. that's a good way to outline your ideas and really figure out what you want to cover. then begin fleshing out the different parts of the lesson. you can even practice small bits by sharing with students on the server. make sure to make notes of questions, as this will help you put even more detail in the lession write-up. also try to put yourself in the position of the person who's being taught. try to think of any and all questions they might have reguarding the particular move you are teaching.

hope that gives you something useful start with. good luck :)

For 45 minutes actually. Am I really the only person in the Academy that has heard of the saying "15 Minutes of Fame"? Everyone else seems clueless...

in 15 minutes of fame the students present a class to the others, one by one, for 10-15 mins.

then others comment on, thats the basic concept of it.

so, its exactly what you're asking for ;)

Well, maybe one of the Trainers will start such a class, I know it would be constructive. But the downside is, some ppl will just go there and fill the schedule to show off at the teacher, and try get a good position. Maybe I'm looking at things at the grim side now :P

It's difficult to "teach teaching" to a large group of people. In the past, I've been taught to teach by Virtue: he could see me teaching in action and then PMed me suggestions. The feedback method on it is often more effective than designing a technique beforehand. That way, it'll still be spontaneous and your own style, but refined.

I dont think its something that can be taught bro, I think every trainer has a unique style, just like their personalitly. Maybe Im wrong as usually though lol
