| JAK+ Single Saberists Outnumber Others | |

It was cool that we finally got an awesome dual saberist for a JAK. Now, thats motrec and YinYang that aren't single saber. This is an aweful imbalance since there are 3 sabers and 90% of the JAKs are single. This goes for almost all the instructors as well. All in all we need more teaching of the other sabers so this remains "JK3", not "JK2 without decent DFAs"  _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten... Staff and Duals are extremely unique, very different in their own ways between themselves, and definitely single saber. Although they only have 2 stances each, they can be varied to create extremely effective styles. Both are 100% controllable. They're EXTREMELY effective weapons, and they both count very much on timing like the single saber. Each saber is equal and unique in it's own ways, it's the person that wields it that truly makes a difference  Don't forget guns either!!!!! This comment was edited by Fire on May 30 2004 11:23pm. |

But then, going to classes, learning the combos and movement, the duals have become my weapon of choice. I like the staff too, and use it at times. Another point about knowing everything about the game .... I've had my yap shut for awhile now with these threads, and now ozzcoz, you've spoken, and I shall too. I agree completely with you on the dual and staff, I've been a staff user the entire time, learning the ins and outs, and it HAS become an extension of my personality. It hurts still to this day when the "dis'" gets thrown about duals and staff. They are styles, just like single, that have their own way of fighting to them. I'm pretty sure what n00b was trying to say on the outnumbering, was with the main style used by the JAK+. Certainly you've all learned to use them, but the one you take into battle with you on a consistant basis is the single. I agree with the JAK+, I've seen you all use the different ways, but when you pick your main weapon of choice, it's significantly a Single saber environment. n00b, i understand exactly what you mean. I guess we'll just have to wait until more dual/staff users get promoted. It is a little boring to see so many classes dedicated to just single styles. On a sadder note, i'm disappointed to see so many students still dissing the staff/duals. One guy says duals are too hard to control! Ever considered learning buddy? I won't say one thing is better than another, but i love my dual sabers, and they become an extension of my personality. _______________ A wizard did it. |

Jake, it's great to know all there is to know about the game, with every little feature you pointed out below but 95% of us, or rather, basically all of us are not in that situation. To be honest, I don't really care about guns. Sure, i still have knowledge on guns and stuff, but I'd rather specialise in a certain area (single saber), and teach it well. Not all of us are allround 1337 players like you were in jk2, jake n00b, by all means, get people to change over to duals and staff if you wish. I'm just another token single saberist. It's what I love and what I'll stick with. However if the Academy wishes to add more staff/duals to the curriculm but isn't ready to promote people to JAK+ because of their saber style, then how about guest instructors? People asked to teach as a guest under the supervision of a JAT. Just spitting it out, I haven't given the idea much thought. This comment was edited by Tido on May 28 2004 01:04am. |

The staff are here to play as well so you can't 'make' anyone use a specicfic type of saber. My opinion though, if you're a 'teacher of JK:JA' then you should know EVERYTHING about the game, all gamemodes, maps, weapons, forcepowers, moves etc. Thats what I allways strived for in JKII and I think its a shame how most people only focus on one or 2 areas. _______________ Apprenctice of Jedi Master Ascari (deceased) Descended from a line of great Jedi Will argue any point of view from any side

There's 35 JAK+ and only 5 or 6 use dual or staff? Is this accurate? Even with the extra people you guys have mentioned, its still overwhelmingly single saber. It just sure would be nice to see more students encouraged to dedicate themselves to the other sabers. Gotta mix it up a bit, I guess is what I'm trying to say. Anyone reading this who has had second thoughts about becoming a dedicated dual or staff saberist because of peer pressure on the server, I welcome you to join in the fun of dual and staff. If more people join in, we can definitely spice things up a bit from the hum-drum repetition of single duelling. Its all in the name of fun! Motrec has been quite an inspiration to me and the dual sabers. Just seeing him try to be different from the cookie cutter red stancer has been quite a lift for me and my interest in the game. _______________ Gone but hopefully not forgotten...
