CTF vs FFA or Dueling | |

Heya. I thought I'd just take up some simple things on manners in CTF that differ FFA or Dueling.
CTF is like an ongoing duel between two teams. The difference is you will most likely score more points if you can outrun your opponents instead of just killing them. Rule #1: Chatkilling is ok. In this ongoing duel, noone should ever chat or bring down the console unless it's a part of their gameplay, so chatkilling is ok. After all, if someone's telling the defender "Incoming on the left side", that person IS still playing, chat icon or no chat icon, and it's ok to kill him. Just don't waste time to kill some chatting dopehead on your way to the flag. Shoot him once and then run on (if you know how to move, he'll be way out of sight before you've had chance to fire a second time anyways). Rule #2: Attacking an unarmed person is ok. CTF is sort of a battle for positions. The team that holds the best positions is likely to win the game. A person running around with his saber down is most likely going to a place where he thinks he can do much good. Kill him before he gets there. Rule #3: The team scores, not you. If you kill the enemy flagcarrier, don't get angry if someone else returns it, and don't run out of your way to grab someone else's flag. The one closest should return it, or if it's in a bad spot, DON'T return it. This can be very useful for defending, since most players on the other team won't know where it is, and the player who 'dropped' it will rush for it as soon as he can. Rule #4: Help your teammates. Once again, the team scores and not you. You should have team energize or team heal to lvl 3 if you're playing ctf (any team game, actually), and use it as much as you can. There are certain positions on every map where a person is expected to be light or dark side depending on what the capper most often needs when he gets there, force or healing. Rule #5: The saber is useless in a guns game. (well... that was a bit bland, I guess, but still). It still is true. Saber has no reash what so ever, unless you throw it, and then you can just outrun it. If you're running around with saber attack to level 3 and saber throw (any at all) you won't have enough forcepoints to get the important skills (All neutral powers to lvl 3 with possible exception for seeing which can be lvl 2), absorb and heal if you're light side and rage and energize if you're dark side. Rule #6: Suicide. A lot! This is not only for when you're falling down, but for when you're out of force (on pubs, force regen time is 200, instead of the academys 100), low on health, don't have a gun or if you've spent most of your 'speed session' and you're still in your home base (when you kill enemy flagger and return the flag, for instance). This way, you get to respawn with fresh force, 100 health and the possibility to get the guns instead of ammo if you're low on it. For those of you who think suiciding is a way to keep the opponent from scoring points, read rule #3 again, and then one more time just for good measure. When someone suicides, it's only to save time. The couple of extra seconds might be just what's needed to cap or to keep the opposing team from doing so. Rule #7: Don't join a winning team. You should always choose "auto join" when you come new to a server, and stay on that team, even if you're losing badly. Just point it out and it should be fixed. Rule #8: Have fun, and play nice. Having fun won't be hard at all if you feel comfortable playing the game, and all academy dudes should be expert at playing nice. Gun on! /Pepsi PS. These rules go for any ctf game outside the academy (and hopefully on academy ctf classes). If you're playing on 'academy time', the rules of the instructor are the ones that are valid. |

Very well, Insaniac. I accept your challenge, but for ctf I think we need to go somewhere else. Join the irc channel whenever you can and I'll set us up on a server where we can be alone. If anybody wants to come and spectate that's alright. For the rest of you I'll just make a demo. |

I agree with most of those rules, but not all, If you see two people off to the side and they have their sabers off and facing each other, then you shouldn't kill them ,they are Probably PMing, especially if they don't have the flag and aren't near it....
the Saber ISN'T useless, in one on one matches of players of equal experiance, sabers will defeat the guns, no matter what. The master jedi/sith can easily get to someoen before they get hurt, it is a matter of combining Dodging the shots, blocking them and using force... I would be happy to prove that to you if you don't believe me, just tell me a time and i will be on the Servers for it. _______________ Midbie Council Member #13 Padawan of SilkMonkey Stuntman extraordinaire |

I pretty much agree with every rule there. The only thing the is suicide, there are 2 types, jumping off building to your death or pressing a bound key that is kill. There is a difference for me. I think it should be jumping off kill but I don't mind if people do the self kill.
