Yeah but the game guides don't apply to the patch as well. The patch updated a lot of things. But yeah, depending on what swing you're doing either duals or red can have the longest range.

Just read all the game guides, even the stance description in the SP. Dual has a long range but red has the longest range of all. Everyone knows that. ;)

actually the left duals swing has a longer range than the right red swing. try it yourself. find a flat wall, hold walk, swing at the wall and adjust until u can just scratch the surface, and mark the distance of the swing with ur gun!!!

Actually red, especially the right swing has the longest range.

it's really hard to rank things that are different but here i go!!!

Dmg per swing
1)red
2)staff
3)duals

Dmg per second
1)staff
2)duals
3)red

i was bored so i went to test some swings out!!! and haha!

Range (standing)
1)duals
2)red
3)yellow
4)staff

who would've thought dualz have more range than red standing. red has a longer range in duelz because of it manuverability--meaning u can move more between the swings--and not because of the actual swing animation.

It all depends on what mod you're using as well. In JAR (Jedi Academy Reloaded), I find this to be more truthful:
1. Red
2. Duals and Staff are about equal
3. Yellow
4. Blue
However, in JA+, I've found this to be true:
1. Red
2. Duals
3. Yellow
4. Staff
5. Blue
But as Jaina explains, it all depends on your experiences with each stance as well. Different counters and how fast you are with combos makes each stance a little bit better than others.

Of course blue "can" block yellow and red but it's very, very unlikely. Even if you do block it, you get a severe recoil from blocking it. Most of the time the attack will move though your block and hit you.

thought i'd say that's not exactly the case from my experience. yellow and blue can block red. just more likely to NOT do it or have your saber knocked outta your hand if you're blocking red with yellow. and even MORE likely to have either of those happen if you're blocking red with blue.

that's my experience anyway :)

The name's Kyle by the way. Anyway just so you guys get an idea of which styles have a stronger block here they are from stronger to weaker, red has the strongest block (it can block any style), Dual, Staff and yellow are equal, then blue, which has virtually no block, it can only block another blue. So consider what style you are using and what style your opponent is using so that you know whether your counter or block will work. Also if you have a server, having saber touch damage on will improve players ability to block and counter.

That's good advice previous poster (not sure what the name is so I'll leave it at that). However, staff can be just as good defensively. Those are the two types of staffers, offense, defense. The trick is to see which you are better at. For offense, yeah, just try and attack them as best as you can, catching them off gaurd most of the times. Strafing helps. For defense, it's best to wait for an open spot, and make your move. Jumping around comes in handy here. :)

The moves in the Staff stance are designed for rushing. A good strategy with staff is to rush your opponent from the side, leaving them vulnerable and unable to defend.

In case you don't know what rushing is, it's attacking quickly and rapidly, sometimes catching opponents off guard. Also be careful of not attacking pointlessly. A trap that Staff users often fall into is attacking when their range is clearly too short. Having the shortest range, staff users have to draw in close and take away their opponents adavantage of distance.

Good luck with the staff, the most difficult style to master. ;)

No, unfortunately Daid hasn't been around to teach staff. But don't forget about SmilyCrazy, she's an uber staffer as well, and I believe she runs a staff class too!

Well, here's what I learned:

The staff's strategy is simple, but not easy.

staff vs red - Dodge their swings and hit them inbetween or after their swings. You have to time these very well. A mistake is devistating to your health.

staff vs yellow - yellow scissors (which will be the primary attack they use) are limited, while staff scissors are not. So, the object is to hit them during the end of their combo, so your scissors can outlast theirs. This doesn't always work, cause they often jump away, but it's effective if it does, and not very risky on your part.

staff vs staff - In this case, you both have the same speed and damage. So my best advice is to attack them while their back is open. Spins are the best windows for a good short, but direct, hit to the back, hurting them allot. I'd recommend charging scissors and fast simple attacks for this kind of fight.

staff vs duals - I still haven't been able to master this, but I've found that duals have suprizingly strong defence. They parry almost automatically, making them fast and dangerous. You might want to handle them similarly to a staff vs staff duel. Though remember: every saber's biggest weakness in defence, is from the bottom.

Well, that's all I can get out right now. Keep dueling. Practice will help you learn faster than anything. (cleshè comment)

Staves are my forte, so here is some basic advice:

-The staff is a rather agressive weapon, and it can deliver multiple strikes with a single attack.

-Be careful about its special moves, they tend to leave you open to lunges and thrusts.

-Learn to use the kick. It's a very useful technique and can mean a quick win if you manage a downward stab with it.

-Finally, when crowded, use the Kata. It will not always work, but you become a living buzz saw and can make quick work of anyone close enough.

That's all I can offer, others can tell you more.
