Yellow certainly has its strong points. There is no greater stance than yellow to use against a defensive opponent. Unfortunately, a yellow user really can be quite easily defeated by a skilled staff user of equal skill. There is no denying the effectiveness of redstance when used sparingly. It can easily crush both your opponent's defenses, as well as their mindset. Few things are as devastating as receiving a 60-damage debit in one blow. Blue stance, though greatly underappreciated and rarely used, also has its strongpoints. The greatest unpredictability comes from the effective and mindful use of all three stances (as far as the single-bladed saber goes). Also, it depends strongly on the situation and environment. On a tiny platform or in a crowd or trapped in a narrow hallway, the evasive aspects of yellow stance are vastly nullified, and yellow simply has neither the range nor power to compare to red in such a situation. As Jaina mentioned, adaptability is the cornerstone of an effective dueling style, regardless of what your technique entails. _______________ © |

best way to stay unpredictable: Close your eyes and put your head back and play by the sound of the other persons saber! lol i wonder if you could some how learn that with surround sound _______________ It's funny how many people know they have the right to remain silent, yet never do. |

Oh and a tip for those who would like to use yellow. Chain your first move with the move that's opposite. As in if you swing left then the next move should be a right swing. If you use a forward right attack the next should be back left etc. For yellow this makes the combo faster and you're more likely to get that two-hit combo. Also don't back away with yellow or any style infact, side stepping is a better way to avoid damage. _______________ The A-Wing, TIE-Interceptor, Raven's Claw and Millennium Falcon are available for download from my homepage. The more you start to use yellow the more you will realise that it is just as good as red, overall. Although I'm still better with red, there have been many times where switching to yellow has saved my arse. Yellow is a good option if you feel that you're becoming too repeditive and predictable plus with yellow you can get 2 hits in rather than the one with red. _______________ The A-Wing, TIE-Interceptor, Raven's Claw and Millennium Falcon are available for download from my homepage. Yellow stance is the most awesome stance. Faster than red and yet more controlable then blue, you can time every swing perfectly with yellow, and following the dance keeps you fully aware of every move of your oponent. Though i'm strongest with yellow stance, I'm no where near as good as some of these pros here at the JA.... I'd love to be as good as them. Yellow Rules And the dance ROCKS! |

Quote: Fascinating to see that this way of fighting is actually quite lag-resistant, it doesn't bare the problem of timing under lag as much as people who use more complicated patterns with yellow. No offense but that is simply not true. Timing is critical to this way of fighting so lag makes ALL the difference. Where you are probably confused, is that people who use this style adapt to suit whatever situation they encounter (INCLUDING lag), and dont rely on the same sequence of combos continuously. Leif actually just talked about the most important thing for this style...the mind. Every1 has their own mindset but correct me if im wrong but an important aspect for this way of fighting is adaptability. Thus we must be willing to alter the way we fight to suit the opponent. Of course I dont speak for any1 else when I say that, but this is how i see the style. _______________ INTP This comment was edited by Jaina D'Kana on Aug 23 2004 12:14am. |

It's not the style that makes the difference, it's the mind of the person controlling it I do believe all stances are equal, but they are made equal for the same reasons as anything else, the person behind the 3d player It all comes down to mind. |

It's actually quite interesting to watch the real yellow aces in the academy. Jaiko, Virtue, Jaina.. (must admit I havn't seen Leif in action yet but I really intend to do that ASAP). The thing that always struck my eye was an impressive way of Semi-controlled fighting... Part Control of the swings, namely the scissor and then letting things happen by simply following the dance. Fascinating to see that this way of fighting is actually quite lag-resistant, it doesn't bare the problem of timing under lag as much as people who use more complicated patterns with yellow. _______________ I love meh TaunTaun! I dunno bout this all sabers are equal thing. I will slap whoever says duals are newb sticks, cause my buddy K uses those things and he uses them good, and I cnat begin to use those things rihgt. But bout this sabers bein equal thing, I dunno obut that. All sabers can PWN, ill say that, and all sabers can win against others if the correct strategy is used, but I don't think they are at all equal. If they were equal then there would be no point in having different kinds, and you would use single just like oyu do staff, and you don't BTW. No, i don't think they are equal at all, but they can all accomplish the same thing if you know how to use them. _______________ Using no way as way. Having no limitation as limitation. |

i switch between yellow and red, to me i think blue is a bit pointless because it blocks nothing and is so weak it basicly does no damage, but if u ca use blue well then good 4 u. i think its stupid how u can only go up stances i think u shuld be able to go backwards eg: red to yellow not red then blue then yellow, just wastes time. i normally start my duels with yellow then move onto red for finishing hits. how often do u ppl use yellow special? _______________ Be the best u can, dont try be better...or you will look very stupid and nowone will like you |

I'm a staff user myself. Usually all the singles just use red against me, cause that's all they know. Then, I was playing virty one time and he pulled out yellow.
