Just wanted this to be a little work in progress - getting all our terms cemented. Please comment with terms you'd like to add, or terms you'd like to edit. Over time this should be a fairly complete glossary and maybe can be added to the holocron.
------------------------------------

#
--------------------------------
#ja-aurochs: Official IRC channel for the Jedi Academy team: The Aurochs.
See: Chat, How to get on IRC

#ja-ctf: Unofficial IRC channel for Capture the Flag at the Academy.
See: Chat, How to get on IRC

#jedi-academy: Main IRC channel for the Academy.
See: Chat, How to get on IRC

A
--------------------------------
Advancing Scissor: Technique used to create forward motion while performing the sissor combo.

Aerial: Any attack that happens in the air or from the air. Any jumping attack.

Aurochs: The Official Jedi Academy CTF/TFFA Team. It is a group of members that promote the Academy through their matches with clans. The Aurochs are divided into two teams: the TFFA team and the CTF team.
See: The Aurochs

B
--------------------------------
Backstab: A special performed by single's blue stance and staff. The user stands with his back facing his target and is standing next to him. The user then takes his saber and thrusts it directly behind him, stabbing the target and causing considerable damage. Executed by holding backwards + primary fire.
See: Blue Stance Specials

Backslash: A special performed by Yellow, Red, and Dual stances. The user stands with his back facing his target and is standing next to him. The user then swings with one arm while rotating 180 degrees to face his target and delivers a very powerful slash. Executed by holding backwards + primary fire.
See: Yellow Stance Specials

Ban: Power of trainers and above to prevent someone from joining the Academy's servers.
See: Rules

Barrier: Considered the Kata for dual sabers, it is a special where the user crouches down and extends both arms. Then both sabers are released from the hands and fly in a circular repeating pattern creating a 'barrier' between the dual saberist and his opponents. After about 5 seconds the sabers return to the user's hands.

Belouve: A Jedi Academy family where the name is passed from master to padawan.
See: The Belouves

Buzzsaw: A powerful move for dual sabers that uses a forward or backward diagonal swing followed immediately by the opposite diagonal swing.

C
--------------------------------
Capture: In Capture the Flag, when one team gets the other teams flag and returns it to their own flag station. This scores a point for that team.

Capture the Flag (CTF): A gamemode available in the game where two teams fight to defend their own flag while trying to obtain the other team's flag and return it to their own base.
See: Capture the Flag

Circle Jump: The beginning of a strafe jump; it uses a combination of strafe and mouse movement to form a quarter of a circle and then a jump. The jump travels with greater speed and distance than a regular jump.
See: Strafe Jump

Corkscrew: An aerial performed by a single saber in red stance where the attacker jumps in the air, flips over sideways, and extends a right swing as he lands on the ground.

Counter: 1- Attacking move performed directly after blocking/parrying the opponent's saber. 2- Attacking move timed to strike directly before or after an opponent's swing.

D
--------------------------------
Dance, The: Basic circular evasion tactic based on strafe movement and keeping an even space with your opponent.

Death From Above: Also known as a RDFA (Red Death From Above). A special performed by single saber's red stance where the user quickly leaps directly forward bringing his saber over his head and down strongly. In some cases it can kill instantly. Executed by pressing forward + jump + primary fire.
See: Red Stance Specials

Delay: Instead of a combo (one swing after another), a second swing is performed just before the saber resets itself. This causes a 'delay' in the swings compared to what usually happens in a combo.

Deflection: When a projectile or blaster shot is deflected by a lightsaber. Not to be confused with a parry.

Derp: Multi-purpose word that can mean almost anything. Opposite to m00. See: SilkMonkey.

DFA: See: Death From Above

D'Kana: A Jedi Academy family where the name is passed from master to padawan.
See: The D'Kanas

E
--------------------------------
Emote: An animation sequence that can be performed by the player's model in the game to express emotion or body language. Examples: bowing, standing with wrists locked behind the back, hugging.

F
--------------------------------
Fast Stance: See: Blue Stance

Framerate: The rate of how quickly the game can render several consecutive images known as frames. It is measured in frames per second (FPS). High FPS results in very smooth gameplay while low FPS causes the game to be choppy.

G
--------------------------------
Gripfly: When two people use level 3 force-grip on eachother and lift themselves up into the air. This moves allow two people to acheive heights that jumping cannot reach.

H

--------------------------------
Heavy Stance: See: Red Stance

Hesitation: a swing that is started, but a backward jump is added to 'hesitate' the swing. So the swing only completes after the jump finishes.

I
--------------------------------

J
--------------------------------
JAA: The tag for the Jedi Academy Aurochs.
See: Aurochs

JABot: An IRC bot with a Napoleonic mindset that regulates the Academy's IRC channels.

JAC: Jedi Academy Council.
See: Ranks, About Us, Being a JAK+

JAK+: All ranked members (Knights, Trainers, Staff, and Council).
See: Ranks, About Us, Being a JAK+

JAK: Jedi Academy Knight.
See: Ranks, About Us, Being a JAK+

JAStaff: Jedi Academy Staff.
See: Ranks, About Us, Being a JAK+

JAT: Jedi Academy Trainer.
See: Ranks, About Us, Being a JAK+

JK1: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II

JK2: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast

JK3: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

jk3ctf: The Academy's CTF Server
See: jk3ctf

jk3classes: The Academy's Classes Server
See: jk3classes

jk3home: The Academy's Main Server
See: jk3home

jk3projects: The Academy's Experimental Server
See: jk3projects

jk3wireplay-uk: The Academy's European Server
See: jk3wireplay-uk

K
--------------------------------
Kata: A preanimated pattern of attacks where the user quickly moves his saber in a series of very powerful combos and rotations while the saber creates a blurred image.

Kick: 1- Power held by ranked members to removed someone from the game by causing the server to cease it's connection with them. 2- Secondary attack for staff users.
See: Rules

KOTOR: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

L
--------------------------------
Lag: A condition that occurs when the delays in the connection become severe enough that the server and client briefly lose and then reestablish contact, causing data to be delivered in bursts, often with delays. This creates 'choppy' gameplay.

Laming: Intentionally attacking another without both parties having some mutual understanding that combat is taking place. Example: attacking someone with their saber down, attacking someone while they are chatting, ect.
See: Informal Rules

Lunge: A special performed in blue stance by single and dual sabers. The user holds his saber facing directly infront of him around waist level. As he quickly steps forward, the saber is lowered so that it is just off of the ground, then is quickly brought up to head-level.
See: Blue Stance Specials

M
--------------------------------
Medium Stance: See: Yellow Stance

m00: Multi-purpose word that can mean almost anything. Opposite to Derp. See: massadoobie.

N
--------------------------------

O
--------------------------------
Overhead: a swing that goes straight over the head. Pressing primary fire and forward, or with no motion at all performs this swing.

P
--------------------------------
Padawan: 1- Someone who has a personal instructor or master. 2- The personal student of a ranked member.
See: Master/Padawan Relationships

Paddie: See: Padawan

Parry: When one saber's impact counteracts the swing/impact of another. This is usually followed up by a second motion striking the opponent.
See: Counter

Ping: Measure of milliseconds it takes a data packet to travel from the player's computer to the server and back. The lower the ping, the faster the overall data throughput between player and server, thus the smoother the play.

PM: Private Message

Q
--------------------------------

R
--------------------------------
RDFA: See: Death From Above

Rollstab: A low attack where the attacker goes into a roll, comes to a crouching stop, and extends his saber directly forward in a powerful stab. Performed by holding forward, crouching, and then pressing primary fire before the roll completes.

Rotation: In a combo, setting your second or third movement backwards + current strafing direction while holding primary fire, causing your character rotate automatically.

S
--------------------------------
Scissor: Chaining left/right movements to create a combo (in yellow stance primarily, also in staff and duals).

Silence: Power held by ranked members to prevent someone in the game from talking. Different levels of silence can be applied.
See: Rules

Sleep: Power held by ranked members to force someone in the game immobile by having their character lay down on the ground and unable to move. They still have the ability to talk however.
See: Rules

Special: An attack in the game that requires a combination of keys to perform and does an unique attack. Example: Kata, Butterfly, Lunge, Rollstab, DFA, yDFA, Backstab, etc.

Spin: Using the mouse to rotate the character rapidly.

Splash Damage: Damage inflicted from close proximity to a detonation or impact from a projectile.

Stance: The mode of saber combat selected for a particular saber. Example: Single saber on red/strong stance, dual sabers on blue/fast stance.
See: Stances (incomplete)

Statz0r: A notoriously slow and often absent IRC bot that performs scans of the Academy's game servers, Google searches, lastseens, manages quotes, and collects trivial information about the channel.

Strafe: Sideways movement.

Strafe Jump: 1- Jumping technique that increases the height and distance of a normal jump. 2- Hopping technique that greatly increases speed (strafe jumping).
See: Special Moves

Strong Stance: See: Red Stance

Swaying: Using mouse movement to exaggerate swing movements.

T
--------------------------------
Teleport: A power reserved to ranked members, it allows them to travel instantly from one part of a map to another. They also have the ability to teleport others.

U
--------------------------------

V
--------------------------------

W
--------------------------------
Wallrun: A special movement where the user runs directly up a wall roughly the same distance as a full force level 3 jump and then backflips off or runs alongside a wall roughly 2 meters off the ground for a short distance.
See: Special Movement

Warping: A latency issue where the number of packets a user sends to the server is restricted, causing him to move in a very choppy fashion. Unintentional warping is known as packet loss.

w00t: An exclamation of happiness or being excited. A celebratory statement.

X
--------------------------------

Y
--------------------------------
Yellow Death From Above: (YDFA) A special performed in single's yellow stance where the user leaps in the air, flipping over so he is upside down directly over his target. The user then swings his saber in a horizontal swing while he is suspended upside down in the air, effectively hitting his target in the head. Executed by pressing forward + jump + primary fire.
See: Yellow Stance Specials

YDFA: See: Yellow Death From Above

Z

Lame - To attack a person who has not agreed to participate in a duel or other fighting activity.

Grip-fly - A means of flying whereby two people with Level 3 Grip simultaneously Grip one another, and each lifts the other as high into the air as he can as quickly as he can.

Ping - The number of milliseconds it takes a data packet to travel from the player's computer to the server and back. The lower the ping, the faster the overall data throughput between player and server, thus the smoother the play.

Lag - Network latency that causes a decrease in a player's ping and "choppy" gameplay.

Emote - An animation sequence that can be performed by the player's model in the game to denote emotion or body language. Examples are bowing, standing with wrists locked behind the back, and hugging (currently disabled ).

Framerate - The number of frames per second (FPS) of animation rendered by the graphics card. Slow framerate is often confused with lag but is not the same thing.

Should we include engine-related terms like portal and area portal? These terms don't come up that often, but they do come up, and understanding them would help people to understand why you shouldn't stand holding the door open to the Matrix room.

Here are all correct names of guns.

-DL-44 Blaster Pistol (BlasTech Pistol)- Modifiable weapon used throughout the galaxy by pilots, smugglers and the like. This is your starting sidearm (in addition to your melee weapon).

-Stormtrooper E11-Blaster Rifle ("ST Rifle", "Blaster";)-Basically the ST Rifle is a "blaster machine gun." While it doesn't look that powerful, it can be quite useful in combat

-Wookie Bowcaster ("Crossbow";)- The Bowcaster's Primary fire can be charged for up to five shots, and makes a distinctive noise while charging up. Also a green glow appears on the barrel when a shot is charged.

-Imperial Heavy Repeater- While the ST Rifle has a certain finesse, the Repeater fires even more shots in a shorter amount of time (though the individual shots are quite weak) and is more accurate than the ST Rifle's secondary fire. The Secondary fire is both hated and feared among the ranks of Lightsaber users, and is an excellent weapon for Flag Base Defenders in CTF.

-Tenloss DXR-6 Disruptor Rifle- The Disruptor is one of the most powerful guns in the game, with regard to damage, as a fully charged Secondary shot can kill a fully shielded enemy in two shots, and will disintegrate an unshielded enemy in one.

-Destructive Electro-Magnetic Pulse gun (DEMP 2)- This weapon is often difficult or impossible for a Lightsaber to block or send the shots back with Force Push, making it good for surprise attacks against certain Jedi. The shots do extra damage to shields, and secondary fire is an "instant-hit" expanding effect, that can knock enemies back slightly.

-Merr-Sonn PLX-2M Portable Missile System ("Rocket Launcher";)- The Merr-Sonn is your basic Rocket Launcher with a twist. The Secondary firing mode has the added ability to track enemies.

-Stouker Concussion Rifle (Concussion Rifle)- The large amount of damage dealt by this gun comes at a price. It consumes large amounts of ammo per shot, throws off your aim (Primary Fire tilts the camera, Secondary pushes the shooter back slightly with its "kick";), and has a slow rate of fire.

-Golan Arms FC1 Flechette Weapon (Flechette)- The primary "flak" bursts will bounce off of walls, but not hurt the user. While a Lightsaber can block the flak, it takes a high level of defense (and often the use of the Blue saber stance) to block ALL of the heated metal chunks. The Secondary shots remind me of Thermal Detonators and can be difficult to Push back (but it is possible).

-Thermal Detonators ("TD's", "Grenades";)- They will make a series of beeps to indicate they are being armed, and the longer the button is held down, the greater the distance they will be thrown. Jumping and moving forward while throwing can increase the distance and height as well as looking up or down to adjust the angle as you release.

-Detonation Packs (Det Packs)- Det Packs, like mines in previous Dark Forces games, can be stuck on virtually any surface (while placing, simply walk up to the wall, jump up to the ceiling, etc and if you are close enough it should stick). While they are somewhat rare and you cannot hold a lot of them at once, each one produces a sizable explosion that can be devastating in close quarters.

-Trip Mines- These placeable explosives project a blue laser beam in Primary mode, that once broken by a body, will detonate. Secondary places a proximety mine that gives off a small blue light.
