JA Servers use: do not be careless !!!

Hey JA people :D

Yesterday around 2 am GMT the Wireplay server was full, 16 players on the 16 slots. When I see that I have 2 reactions: first I think 'wow it's cool, a busy server is a server where people have a lot of fun', second I think "too bad I can't join'.

By looking at the people connected, I saw something utterly disturbing: on a full server, one guy was AFK. His name was changed to Name-AFK. I waited like 15 mins to see if a slot opened. Bad luck. And the AFK guy was still AFK, his score wasn't moving. So I requested him being kicked of the server to leave an empty slot for people wanting to actually play.

This guy went out of his AFK state while he saw the kick message. He reconnected and asked for explanation like that: "who kicked me and why?'
He was replied that it was because he was AFK for more than 30-40 mins. He replied something like 'So what?'

This is a careless and rude behavior. If you are going to be AFK for a long time, ie more than 10-15 mins and the server is full or nearly full, just leave and come back when you will actually play. Do not occupy a slot when you are not playing. Be nice with your fellow students and allow them to use the server as well.

This should be common sense for everyone but the event of yesterday showed it's not.

Our servers are reserved to the people who want to play, you cannot reserve a slot for when you'll come back from your 2-hour groceries trip. Be thoughtful about that and remember other people might need the slot. Most of the time this is not an issue to idle on a server but when slots become rarer you must understand the necessity of disconnecting so that other people may have fun too.

Enough said, I'm sure you all get the idea now.
Peace out :D

Always look in the console for kick messages, if you don't see them when the kick occurs. Just scroll up with pageup.

Masta, I merely used what happened yesterday as an example of what we want to avoid. I agree servers are not often full, but the cap of each server is given in the game. Don't take it personal as I did not mention your name for that reason.

The situation itself is not pleasant for you as it wasn't for anyone else, the people who wanted to play and the admin that kicked you.

Now, if an admin kicks you, there is ALWAYS a good reason. Sure mistakes can occur, but keep your cool and try to sort out things. :)

So be at peace man, I'm not angry or anything with you in particular, I'm merely stating something we should all apply.

We all friends again? :D

Personally, I see absolutely nothing wrong with just "hanging out" on a server when it's not full. IRC? I have nothing against it, but it's not my cup of tea. The server is a whole virtual world full of sight and sound, even if I'm just hanging out there. But yes, if you are just hanging out, and you see the server approaching full, yield your spot to someone else. And again, when you return from AFK, even if you're just chillin', take the AFK off your name. And take it with good humor if you get kicked for AFK.

Yup ppl this guy was me

First of all i want to say sorry to any ppl i may have offended with this behavior

Now give me a Chance to explain myself:

Me, who was in this server for like...3 hours (At that Time it was pretty empty) was trying to set a new Record on Frags (lol yea its pointless but whatever...i just tried it...i failed 3 times now because i got kicked 3 times in a row...so i just leave it >_>''...)
Anyway...so i made my Frags and went afk after a while to get a brake (m8 it makes u go crazy after a while)
After some time...with Food in my left and some Coke in my right Hand, i got back and watched the Conversations goin on in the pretty full Server.
Well...i actually saw that the Server was pretty full but i havnt counted the ppl down who were on it...and i didnt knew the Player Limit neither x_x
So...i just stayed without knowing that even MORE ppl wanted to join but couldnt because of the full Server.
After a while i got kicked...and reconnected of course to ask for the reason for that.
So i got back on the Server (very PO inside...but calm outside) and asked who made that and why.
The answer was > You were AFK <
Me said thereupon > So what?! < because of my completly unawareness of the Situation and the very full Server...and got the answer > The Server is full and ppl wanted to join so u got kicked <
Still pretty PO but without giving ANY comment to that (i knew that it was just right what happend) i left the server >_>

Once again i apologize for my ignorant and careless behavior

One other thing to be aware of...When you change your name to JoeBlowAFK to go grab a sandwich or whatever, remember to change it back. Sometimes people's names say AFK when they are actually not AFK, so you could be angering someone waiting to join the server who thinks you're hogging a server slot.
