Hi guys,
it came to my attention that there are some misunderstandings of the knight's role. I want to post here *my* interpretation of the knight rank with all it's taks and rules. First off all you have no "right" to become a knight like you have a "right" to become a journeyman. Your ultimate goal of course *can* be to become a knight (don't want to burst any bubbles) but don't be upset if you won't become one. Knights are not selected because they are l337 pla0rz or because they own j00 (sleeping in the right beds doesnt really help too  ). They are mainly chosen for their character, the way they act towards others, how they handle confilcts etc. So *don't* question a knight when he looses a duel. Your respect has not to come from their fighting skills, you should respect them for their character and for their detication!
Can you imagine how big the pressure to win on a knight is, if everybody expects him to win? Can you imagine how it feels when you're asked: "So YOU are a knight?" after you lost? Treat a loosing knight like you would treat any other guy: fair. Don't set a knight under too high pressure or it will come back! In fact, what makes a knight worthy is his ability to loose! I saw knights loosing on purpose to cheer up others several times. Remeber that! Last not least, a point that I take very serious among knights (listen up if you are one). Knights shouldn't be egos. Although you *are* skilled with the saber, although you *are* selected by the leaders, although you *have* adminpowers and although you *can* eat two donuts in three seconds remember one thing: You are here for the people, not the people for you. With all your strength, with all your autority with all your knowledge... never forget humblness and humility. Theese two are the last steps to become a true knight. Let go of the secular goods and you will be enlightned and more wise than you can imagine 
Really, I am serious here. Please make sure that every knight for himself controls his attitude. And every non-knight, check his own relation towards knights aswell. Thank you. Now carry on

Yesterday was in a server with this guy padawan. was in there with some other knights, we were all asking who this guy was. He just goes "I am padawan that is my name" So he chalenges me to duel, and I beat him, didn't even touch me. Then he changes his name to arcuss JAK. 'Oh dear I thought'. He went on to beat me about 10/1

I whole heartliy agree with this. The people who have the guff to question whether someone is a knight because of a few losses is obviously someone who will never be a knight.

i love you brother aeth... you have said it all! i recall at least one incident when i was training one of my padawans, i purposely adopted a bad dueling technique, for the training. Someone watched me fight, and after i lost, he said something along the lines that he doesn't believe i'm a JAK and bla bla bla bla bla.... i was so surprised, even shocked, to hear a student say something like that i didn't have anything to say.. i just ignored him. i can already see, just from reading people's posts on the forums, potential future knights. without knowing or ever seeing someone duel, you can tell if that someone is JAK material or not. so nobody should judge JAKs, or anyone for that matter, by their skill as button-pressers...

Well put Aeth. Lord knows how much pressure there is for the Knights/JAT/JAC's to play well. Boy do I shoot that theory down in a duel (I just reinstalled.. gimme a bit to get my skills back.. you're all going down then. )

Totally agree Charon, sometimes there will be a complete newbie that can whip me, and I have to duel them 8 times before I can beat them, if at all. And it's always because #1 I'm having a bad duelling day, or 2, they just have a strategy that happens to get me down, or just the way they fight is really strong against my own style.
So yeah you definetly shouldn't question people over their rank versus their duelling ability... especially the knights and JAT's, but you know... I still get nervous when I duel a JAT, hehe. _______________ [Oi Oi Oi!!] |

Were you watching? ;> Seriously though, this happened to me a couple days ago. Had a bad losing streak going in dueling, and somone asked me if I was really a Knight. Kinda hurts in alot of ways. Yeah, I was in suckmode that morning, and that's all cool. No, I don't expect every member of the Academy to recongnize all the Knights by name even without tags, half the time, I can barely remember who the JAT are without tags. ;> Still, it felt like I was both being accused of posturing beyond myself, a level of arrogance I only reserve for duels with Arcuss and Hux... I mean, nevermind. And it also felt like a shot at the Academy's standards. To say nothing of my ability. I've never been given reason to suspect that somone I've seen in any of the servers was posing as a Knight or Trainer, either with thier own name, or impersonation. I'm very pleased with that, and I think people should think well enough of the other members not to even suspect somone of being an impostor or poser without a better reason than having a bad day dueling. But you know, that situation was explained, forgiven, and apologised for on both sides the morning it happened. I'm not here to wound anyone, just to reenforce the point Aeth is making. We're not all unstoppable dueling machnes, and none of us can be all the time. What we are, are people, some of us with some knowledge, some with some wisdom, some with some humour, and all of us with a good outlook, strong tolerance, and a slightly protective view of your Academy. Well said bro, the funny thing is, people who act all l33t will prolly never even get to be a knight because of their attitude, even though they think making knight would justify their rudeness and egotistical nonsenses. Funny how people like that contradict themselves
I don't really care so much about being a knight, just for the sake being a knight, or JAT for that matter. The name doesn't mean so much to me as the oppurtunity to teach others and help the academy as best I can. I must say I think the COuncil has done a great job of selecting knights, as I can't really think of any circumstances since I've been here of having a problem with knight. Kudos to the council, as well as the knights and their respectable attitudes. I can feel for ya Aeth. Imagine how the pressure is one JAT's. There are always some who asks you are Jat? U just lost... Thinking somehow we got invulnerable with our titel. Everyone looses now and then.

I must agree on everything you have said, I didn't notice anything in there that wasn't a part of a Knight's role .
