Man, the cruelest of creatures... -Sared - May 13 07:26am | |

May your thoughts and prayers be with the Berg familly this week. Thier eldest son, Nick Berg, a civillian contractor, was captured by Iraqi terrorrists, detained for an unknown period of time, and then beheaded. The execution was publicised and videos are trickling through the news networks. This has only brought more pain and suffering, two things the world needs a bit less of if you ask me. I can only hope that the memory of Nick can be honored properly. |

Halendor, you make the very point I was going to make. Although I agree everything is sick and twisted, we - the civilized part of the world, not just the USA - need to hold ourselves to a higher standard. Sinking to their level is...well...their level. And then where are we? I'm very sorry for not only Berg, but many others who have had horrible things happen to them...no matter what the nationality. Quote: Yeah with the pictures of the inhumane treatment of the Iraqi prisoners, we have about every person in the administration apologizing for it while others in Washington are high fiving and congratulating each other about one more reason to hate our government. I never heard of any other country apologizing for: The World Trade Center, the thousands of other terrorist attacks around the world, the treatment some of our captured/killed soldiers received at the hands of Iraqi soldiers (in case you forgot about some of those pictures from a year ago), and the death of this man. The prisoners you see being humiliated are remember the former soldiers in Saddam's army. Men that mistreated Iraqi citizens more than likely and committed who knows what else. And we're saying we're sorry for doing humiliating things while anyone they have captured is in a situation ten thousand times worse. I haven't watched the news but are the people who were so outraged about the naked pow's making the same uproar about this horrible thing? What differs the good guys from the bad guys is that the good guys don't do the things the bad guys do. It's in any movie or book that is about the battle between good and evil. The good guys always save their enemies when they are helplessly hanging from a cliff, and even don't regret it when they get slaughtered by them later. The USA has assumed the role of the good guys, and therefore they are very limited in what they can and can't do. The terrorists can do anything they want because they are the bad guys. If the USA start doing anything they want to, they become the bad guys too. And that is why there is so much uproar about the mistreatment by the American soldiers, and so few about the crimes commited against those soldiers. Sure, it is understandable they did it, but it doesn't make it right. And didn't Jesus say something about loving your enemies? Here's the time to practice what you preach. |

I just watched the video despite my good judgement. Makes me want to join the army. I will say, regarding our "Inhumane Treatment" of the POW's we have.......SCREW THEM. It is not like they are following the Geneva Convention. If the shoe was on the other foot, those POW's would be Cutting our heads off. All we did is publically humiliate them as a mechanism for interragation. IMHO, we should do whatever is necessary. Sorry, but if you watch the video of Nick Berg, the pictures of what we did is NOTHING in comparrison. -DM- _______________ One Day, it will all end. |

I'm sorry, but to that I cannot agree. I have just read the news in the papers, and felt sick, and ashamed of mankind, if mankind is the right word. Then I come here and see the news all over again, imagine... The USA isn't searching for reasons to hate you, nor do they hate YOU or YOUR PEOPLE, or YOUR BELIEFS. What happened there cannot be blamed on an entire country, nor on a religion. I know, only too often, there are people who generalize and blame it all on the Islam or on Irak or whatever, but that is not what America does. They removed your dictator, they removed your oppression. Now we have a war against terrorism, and to my mind it is a justified war. How can't it be a justified war? Aren't we allowed to fight for a world without wars? There is good in this world, and if we don't fight for it, sooner or later, it will go away. What happened to mr. Berg was cruel, and heartless. Yet none of us lay the blame on the Iraquain people or the Islamic Belief. We blame it on the terrorists who did it, and in my mind, they deserve to die. Quote: deserve to die? I daresay he does... Many that live deserve death, and many that have died deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then don't be too eager in dealing out death in judgement. I'm sorry, but this quote came to me when writing the last line. After this, I am a supporter of the war against terrorism, more than ever. Yes, innocent people die by wars, and they should be allowed to live on, but if terrorists use humans, living, breathing humans, with lives of their own, if they use them as shields, then those terrorists are nothing better than cruel, down-hearted murderers. And I totally agree with Javaguy here. Quote: The only thing mankind has to do to ensure a victory of evil, is for good men to do nothing If we would do nothing, the evil would spread. Slowly but surely, we would be overtaken by corruption, dictators, and pain and suffering. Do not think the USA hates you, nor are they trying to find reasons to hate you... I assure you, they are not. If anything, the Terrorists bring it upon their own, and upon their own country. Do not seek the blame with the USA, or any of the free lands, but seek the blame with the terrorists and everyone who supports the terrorists. I wish this never had happened, and I feel really sorry for his family, and for what happened. May he rest in Peace _______________ Visit the Belouve Family Website! Quote: I try to have fun with my friends and try to make a difference as best I can. What does making a difference mean? Well, it can be as simple as saying hello, answering a question that seems obvious or heck, just talking. -- Vladarion
