You are here. Therefore, I am going to make a very simple and generalized assumption: you have a problem. How do I figure this? Well, most likely, if you are a normal reader of this section of the site, then you have probably been here for a little while. However, it is my opinion that if you have been here that long, you need a break. Not any of this retirement crap. You just need to go tend to your life; that which matters more than this stupid game. If you feel that in any way you are dependant on this community for your own mental or physical well-being, I don't want you here. People like you remind me of what I used to be like, and it wasn't f#$%ing pretty. Its a matter of balance. There are several factors involved. First of which, is how much time you spend here as opposed to how much time you spend doing anything else. Personally, I think someone who spends 20% of thier time here is extremely active. Let me tell you something: we don't need you. The world will not stop spinning if you are not here. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy you being here as much as you do, but you have got to remember that we do this for fun, not because we think that the internet will bluescreen without us. For that matter, I can only think of a few individuals that the Academy needs in order to function, and that would be DJ_Sith (the webmaster), or Huxley (our server provider). Just take a look at how active they are, and you will see exatly how crucial thier participation in the community is: Not very. We can survive without them for a couple weeks without the universe ending or anything. In fact, I applaude the fact that DJ has not cared more for this place than the rest of his responsibilities. He has been purpousfly inactive as of late, due to a rather insane work schedule, and needed some time off. Did he put up one of those posts saying 'Hey, I'm going to be inactive now!'? No. Neither should you. The JA is something you do with your free time. You hold no obligation to fill us in on every nuance of your life. Nor do you hold any obligation to be here for a set amount of time every day. Secondly, is the level of seriousness that you handle yourself here with. Please try to remember for just a moment that this is a internet community. In the grand scheme of things, what you do here does not effect your life. Period. If you become a Knight, big deal. You get banned? So what? Or,(and this is a more recent and direct example) you get banned and your name is slandered left and right in the community. Big f#$%ing deal. Its a game; and whoever worries about thier social status, or the social status of another in a freakin game is fast approaching a point where reality is becoming distorted. When I log into this site or connect to a server, I expect two things from everyone, and I will say that I am not wrong in doing so. Maturity, and fair play. I do not go to any of our forums or servers looking for a pit of whining, immature children. If I wanted that.....WTF am I saying, I wouldn't ever want that. This does not not discount the fact that we are here to have fun, and should be so serious that we lose sight of that. Here is how the rules for posting will work for this article. Put up a simple post, saying something short like "start". Then, shut down your computer and walk away. Go do something else. Anything else. Call a friend, read a book, go for a drive, draw a picture, get into a fight with your sibling. Then, post again an hour or later telling us what you did and how you chose to spend your time. There, this rant can now be considered complete. Yes, I am writing this in light of recent events. No, I will not mention anyone or anything here. If you have trouble with the views and expressions displayed in this article. Sue me. I'll be outside practicing my Poi. |

Hello im kinda new here so i dont want too make asumptions abought your post and im shure glad to be here not because im adicted to this game but because for once their is a place that has reall structure to it and i can see this particular jk gameing saga actually grow and evolve it is fasinating to me to whatch this happen it is another phanamana i think with each game thay get better and better at the over all gaming experiance and i seperate this type of gaming from other games that you might play for the reason of the fact that thay made this game just like a soccer,are football,tennis,our other sports games that you would spend possibly just waisting an hour maby two are maby an intire day on telivision which thay say that is preaty adictive too,And always just being a spectator, but with JKA you find your self in the thick of things so to speak,in the action,and im more of a perticipating type of person myself and yes im guilty of maby role playing here and their but i dont think that is a mental health problem hahahah but i wont even try to tell you how you would want to run your forums but i do often think of all the diferant openions of people and wounder how it all stays together ;D if you think abought the amount of people and ideas that are expressed on multiple forms of this game and imagin that all thoughs conversations took place with all thoughs people together in one location and time at like your home you would have to have a home the size of a large state in the usa lol.But i just wanted to say thank you for your post and yes their is life out side jka and also life in jka you just need to find your balance and if gaming happens to be a hobby for some are a quick passing fansy for others as long as your having fun their is no harm done,but as far as the other stuff goes for slandering people's names ect.computor games are just computor game's but just remember thay are played by reall people that have reall fealings and people do form friendships i dont want to tell you what you want to post in your forums but i know from experiance when people left from are servers that made this game fun , it did leave a hole  and a perfict example of that if you think it is the game that is so fun to play go to an empty server all by your lonsome and see how long you stay their before you leave and move on to somthing else lol expecialy if people show up that dont know how to play the game it isnt varry challengeing are varry fun to play other players that dont respect the rules of the game and their are people who take pride in their acomplishments just as profesianl athleets would just we dont get paid for it yet lol which i find funny that the best football athlets play video games and the best solders in are military play video games and thay say your motor skills improve 60% higher than people that dont play video games so that tells me that their is some benifit to playing theem ,and i always think its funny that the football players play with their own skins hahahah and with their own model talk aboght ego lol.I will say this when i saw the end of your post i just had to laugh out loud when i saw the poi the first thing i could think of is how do i make that a pk.3 file hahahahahaah. One or two notes from your beloved.. well...me <_<: Even though i agree with ya there sared... ya gotta admit this place has been a great place for people who.. have made great friends... enjoyed they're time here and still are... we all get told that its easy to get addicted to the wubble yu wubble yu wubble yu a lil' too much.. but in the end... if ya don't go crazy then ye'll be okies... Other than that i thought about it for a bit and i thought... well... i almost had to give up the internet because of a lil thing going on... financially.. which.. in a way scared me... i keep contact with alot of friends and loved ones via the internet... sure i can access it from Cyber Cafés and stuff but its not the same...also this place is a place for me to forget my life... which aint so nice let me tell you.... its a place for me to forget my past and my mistakes.. sure its not the kinda thing i should be doing... in fact i should be out making a difference and changing my life... which i know i can do if i try.... but its one of those... i try, it falls apart. I try again but harder, and it only falls apart and upsets me. ... maybe i've drivelled on enough now..... more than likely i've made one or two of you go... this dudes weird.. and/or attempting to correct what i've said... if someone thinks this is aimed to offend anyone then please don't .... im just making my oppinion.. which none of you needs to take heed of... Great article, Sared! I feel that I get away from the computer enough. I love this place, but I understand that RL has to come first. Because of that, I always do my homework (except Norwegian homework, that sucks ), and I go to parties and for walks with my friends.Another factor that keeps me away from this place is my sister. She's fond of using the computer too, and I have to share it with her. Sometimes, when she comes to take over, I feel angry, but now I realize how lucky I am having to share this...black box. I also go to school from Monday-Friday from 7AM - 4:30PM, which REALLY helps me to stay away from the computer! School + RL > *. That's just the way it is. _______________ In the navy and LOVING it!
