Janus - Retired  |
It is funny the coincidences one can encounter in a span of time. 2 weeks ago I had posted to the JAK+ that in "2 weeks time, I will be retiring from the JA Community". I gave two weeks because I wanted to be absolutely certain that everything was in order before I left. For one, the Aurochs, with their great amount of energy and motivation building need a leader(s) that can take it, and shape it into the excited bull I know the Aurochs to be. 3th and Sauce are spearheading this and with those two at the helm, I can guarantee the Aurochs to be making great successes on the path to becoming whole again. I am honored to have been a part of the rekindling fire and to have been part of the team so long ago. Secondly, my staff classes needed to have their end lessons. As much as I wanted to teach, I was only able to start off strong in the beginning, and cancel a few towards the end. I was extremely happy with this past Saturday's and Tuesday's classes though. For those that showed, I was able to give the final lessons I wanted to give. You all make me proud. With those things wrapping up, I knew it was now my time to part. In January, work dropped the load of loads on me by having me change work schedule to a 12am to 8am way of life. I was able to somewhat maintain a balance of work life and game life, but it's just too strenuous on myself. Not that I want to leave this place, the JA's great, a great community with great people, but in the same sense, they need a JAK that can be there for them, on the servers, in classes, there for them when they need 'em, and I wasn't fitting the bill for that. I'm glad the JACs are going to sweep through, I'm looking forward to stopping by and perusing the forums to see some new and old faces taking the helm of leadership within the community. Honor them as you have honored the JAK+ from before, we care about you (yes you! the students!) I had typed this up last night at work, but sure enough, luck would have it everything got erased. Not that I don't care about this speech, but it was long, so I'm going to reiterate a few things from last night, but I'm going to keep it short and sweet, to the point. It has been a great honor being a member of this community. Getting to be a student, learn the ways of the game through JAK+ help, other students, etc was great! I never thought you could learn so much from a game, yet I have, and I'm happy I've taken the time too. To be JAK allowed me to take all that I had soaked in, and reapply it to all of you interested in learning staff. I can do nothing but smile and look back at all the people that attended and had fun. If you didn't have fun in my class, you got to lame me at the end, which in turn made it fun right? (how many people did we get that one time to do the SAME move at the SAME time where it almost crashed the server?) JACs, keep on moving up up up. Keep this place going, no matter what. So long as there are sabers, this place needs to keep educating. It is also a haven from the dreadful pubs, always keep those doors open  . JATs, to those that were and those going to be, remember your students, and be there for them. We look up to you. We look for advice, for a shoulder to lean on, education in a skillset, and anything in between. Some of the most simplest things done without even thinking matter the most... JAK brothers and sisters, a true pleasure in first, getting to know each and every one of you, and second, getting to work alongside you in the name of the JA. A chunk of you grew up right alongside me, you know who you are, and we made it to this rank together. Others I got to know as I arrived, and with open arms you greeted us. Keep it up folks, keep it up... Last and certainly not least, to the students. Never give up, fight the good fight, and remember to respect and honor your fellow students and above. Pick them up when they are down, be the shoulder to lean on, and listen to what they say. Offer advice when applicable and no matter what, just be there for them. You are the future of the JA, continue to improve, continue to grow, continue to excel. Remember that just because you don't get recognized in some form or fashion, that you aren't noticed behind the scenes. The last piece of the post I had from before, was my surprise gift upon leaving, a short story, a final story of Janus the Jedi Knight. I'm going to summarize and type again the final piece, I hope you enjoy.... While teaching class one day, Janus recognizes from the viewing deck Motrec and Gradius leave in a hurry. Upon getting outside, Janus learns that there is a great disturbence in the force coming from the Droid Room. Janus runs into JP and 3th who escort the class back to their rooms while Janus runs to meet up with Motrec and Gradius. Upon getting to the Droid room, what looks like the remnants of a great fight are all around. Arm parts, body parts, strewn about, and not that of Droid practice fighters either. JK13 stands alone, clothes torn, panting as he tries to explain how a number of Sith came forth from the rooms which the NPC droids came from. He was able to fight off most while Motrec and Gradius came in to the rescue to help finish them off. Investigating the spawning room, they find a tunnel which leads all the way to the FFA area. It is there they find the pit of the area doesn't lead to one's own demise, but the deep underground catacombs of the Jedi Academy. Within the catacombs were old cloning facilities with hundreds of bodies, full clothed and armed, in deep sleep within seperate chambers. Tigerclaw and Yellow5 snuck away from the class being escorted back and manage to meet up with Janus, Motrec, and Gradius. When the five of them get into the facility some more, they discover the chambers which had already been broken from awakened clones and the hundreds of chambers awaken at once. They fight their way back towards the only entrance out. (this is where i'll continue from) The five battle their way to the exit, Motrec's sabers deflecting shots from 3 Sith that were aimed for Tigerclaw. Yellow5 spins around and cuts another in half, and rolls out of the way of anothers lunge. Gradius leaps forth, staff twirling as heads roll. The glass doors to the entrance of this lab are in sight, and Janus knows this place needs to come down and be destroyed. He maneuvers his way to position himself in between Gradius, Tigerclaw, and Yellow5 and the Doors leading to the outside. Motrec had gotten out of sight, taking on numerous amounts of Sith while using Force Speed. With the other 3 in position, Janus sweeps low and takes the attacking Sith down, then aims his hand towards the 3 and with all his might Forces pushes Gradius, Tigerclaw, and Yellow5 out of the room. With his other hand he chucks the staff saber and cuts the circuitry to the door, closing the doors and sealing Motrec and Janus off from the other three. "They are safe now, that is all that matters." Janus turns to face the crowds, a small smile on his face. He can hear the pounding on the glass behind him from Gradius shouting to open the doors, but he knows that this, is his time. Motrec was now out of sight, nowhere to be found, but he could still sense his presence in the Force. They both know that this is their final fight, but what could they do to ensure the safety of the rest of the academy? Looking up, Janus spots the structures of this underground lab are their own support. If he were to bring down the house, the caves itself wouldn't collapse and the Academy above would be left intact. Gradius from the outside tries to use his staff saber to break the glass doors open, but the material doesn't budge as he puts the saber through it. "It's too thick, I can't get through! Help me and with our combined sabers, we'll be able to get back in there!" He stops however as he spots Tigerclaw and Yellow5 looking up and through the glass. Janus stands on the opposite side facing them. In the background Sith are approaching and fast. With one last smile, Janus puts his hand to the glass, a final goodbye. Sabers tear through him as he fades away, his tunics all that are left of him. In somewhat shock and awe, Gradius blinks in amazement, "He's gone..." The rumbling can then be heard and the Sith on the otherside begin to scream as the structures from above all begin to collapse one by one. A few more minutes of loud noise can be heard before there is silence, and the underground cloning facility was then buried forever in rubble. "C'mon, let's go...there's nothing more we can do...we have to inform the rest...." whispers out Gradius, and the three head back to the surface. It would be a day of grief and rememberance as the Academy looked back upon Motrec and Janus' brave deeds, and the sacrifices they had made. They knew what had to be done had happened, but they missed them nonetheless... Not too far way, on a cliffside facing a vast ocean, rubble can be seen moving away. The camera shows only the floor as feet come into view, dirt being shifted one way or another. Recognizeable voice can then be heard, "Did you have to bring down the whole thing?" "It was the only way, you were already within the side tunnel, I knew it was safe..." "They probably think I'm gone then..." "You wanted to be on your own for a bit anyway right?" *silence* The camera pans back a bit to show a slightly dirty Motrec and a blue glowy haze outlined Janus talking, Janus continues, "The Academy doors are always open my friend, if and when its your time to return, they will have open arms and smiles abroad." "What about you?" "Oh I'll be around, in one form or another. They can always come and talk with me, my spirit will be free roaming...." "Then that's the way it is..." "Yes, the way it is...." Camera pans back farther and farther as it fades to black... Fin _______________ Be honorable, be friendly, be trustworthy. Show respect to all whom you meet. Don't forget you learn when you win AND when you lose. Be the first to admit mistake AND the first to correct it. Be the shoulder for someone to lean on. Always remember those that sacrificed time to help you. This place isn't were we started, it won't be where we end, it's just a stop along the way. Good times when you were around, I will miss them. for most...the path may appear to end...look closely the threads are there. they will be carried on, not by one...but by many. many honorable students, friends, and brothers. Janus bro, you're the one that i've come the farthest with here. from the beginning to the apparent end...brothers of the saber, brothers of the stein i wouldn't trade a minute of every bit of fun we've had, not for a damn thing there's really no words that can quite put it all together my man. you'll be missed...but never be forgotten. i hope that blue glow you have now doesn't affect your ability to hold onto a stein. i know we'll still share one from time to time. peace be with you my brother. stay cool, may success abound in your life.  _______________ this is the internet, be serious damn it! |
